TL:DW This game isn’t terribly difficult, just focus on breaking parts off of behemoths to get more gear. Slashing weapons get a bonus to severing parts.
3 questions: - does part damage = damage against behemoth health? - what do critical strikes numbers look like? - are all weapons able to inflict part damage (I.e. spears)?
Should also be noted that Slashing Weapons (pretty much everything except the Hammer I think) deal extra Part damage to Wounds. So if you see a wound you should most likely be trying to attack it. There are some rare exceptions but this is a good general rule to follow.
do try give updated guides on different weapon types following new patches/changes..most of the dauntless utubers for now are heavy on the clickbait and less on the information..im happy i stumbled across your channel :)
When you do damage to a part they hide the damage to the behemoth. It is hidden because it would be a copy of the part damage, therefore redundant. When you add part damage perks the hidden white number is unaffected by part damage bonuses. If you strictly attack parts the behemoth still dies.
that what you said at 10:08 is exactly what i thought playing this as a new player. I have unlocked rift and umbra armor as well and like the way they look but i dont know which weapons are good for the future and if i'm wasting my time leveling a "cool looking" weapon. can you make a video on the weapons that are good to invest in and what not to for every weapon class?
Hellion. Hellion EVERYTHING. Fighting a fire behemoth? Use riftstalker weapons especially for hammer and axe. If you want anti-fire weapons for reals though, use Borings weps.(Boreus)
Hitting yellow does still subtract from behemoths main HP pool it's even on website about it. You see yellow numbers because part isnt broken yet. It's why you dont see white numbers. For Example say your hitting for 50 white health damage and your also doing 150 part damage when you hit a part not broken you will see 200 part damage. Even though your only doing 150 part damage to break the part your still doing 50 health damage. Same reason why you can kill a behemoth and last hit can be a yellow number. Parts have there own part health break point to break it. Which is why running part damage cells make you break parts faster. Another example is running cunning for double damage proc with ragehunter for say 50% more damage these talents boost your raw damage. So now your 50 raw damage goes to 75 damage from ragehunter when behemoth is enraged and if you get cunning crit it will be double that at 150 raw damage, but you still only do 150 part damage. If you hit a part that's not broken you will now see 300 yellow numbers it seems like your doing more part damage to break the part but in reality your not. This is same reason why sub 3 min fights you kill behemoth and he still has parts not broken yet when you run all damage boosting talents that boost your damage and not part damage. Its confusing I know wish they would of did it a little different personally.
Emjay The Great Yeah I jumped on a reply like this too but yours is more complete. It’s just hiding a number that would be redundant. Swing at a part and see two numbers would be weird. Even if you’re using part damage the numbers would be in the same range and be noisy and even harder to see. I think you were unclear about raw damage boosts like rage/rage hunter/cunning/predator/overpower. They do increase both part and behemoth damage because they simply increase all your damage. All of this is easy to prove because you can compare your yellow and white hits. The other big learning hump is how different behemoths have different health and every part and stagger/wound pool is different between different parts.
Pretty much this. This wasnt really something I wanted to cover right out the gate, because its indicated so poorly and very confusing to someone never playing dauntless.. But if there are any over achievers in the comments section. Emjay's comment is absolutely true.
@@FearsomeWarrior yeah I wasnt 100% sure if it boosted part damage. Another thing I dont like is bonus damage to stagger behemoths I'm not sure if breaking a part counts as staggering even though they stagger... reason I say that is there are two different cells that heal you when you stagger a behemoth and when you part break a behemoth. I've ran the stagger one with chain blades and when I part break looks like a stagger I get no heal.. but when I run the part break heal everytime I break a part I get a heal. Which makes me think that bonus damage to staggered behemoths doesnt count when you break a part and they seem to stagger. Gonna try to test it more when I can.

Mainly it's up to the group. Someone can take the lead in asking for a specific part, whilst more chaotic groups that don't talk tend to go for different parts. However, observant random players /will/ notice if you're focusing on a part and may focus on it as well to assist you and themselves.
@@RevvyVtuber That would be amazing! I tried doing an Embermane fight to check for the "signal" like you mentioned and I noticed in the video, but I can't see it at all when I play. It would really come in handy to have that indicator for sure, but a video detailing which attacks are able to be interrupted and how to do so would be magnificent in the meantime like Sixstrng stated.
Your tutorials are GREAT! Can you, please, do a tutorial showing how to interrupt with each weapon? I dont have any idea how to do it with chain blades and spear. Another video showing how to interrupt each behemoth will be awesome!
To interrupt with the pike, you need to lock a shot by tapping Q/LB/L1 after you've charged it, and then holding the same button/key to aim. When the point glows (you'll see what I mean, it's pretty distinct), it'll fly straight. If you undercharge or overcharge it, the shot will go wild. The same windows as Revvy pointed out apply to all weapons, and you generally need to hit the behemoth in the head or arms/front legs to boop 'em. Bewarned: when you're lining up your shot, you plant your feet and can't move unless you roll - which cancels the shot and preserves the ammo - so you're staring down the thing you're shooting at. For chainblades, you need heavy strikes 6 across your gear to interrupt, but once you have that, any heavy attack (their ranged attacks) will boop.
Tys for the vid it was very informative for someone who just started playing on ps4. If u ever get the chance to make a guide on each behemoth it would go a long. 👏👏👏
I enjoyed the way this video was done. I'm a big monster hunter fan so many of these concepts aren't new to me, but Dauntless does enough different that it has me interested. Definitely going to sub because the game doesn't explain the different damage types at all. I'd love to see a video on the actual difference that elements do. How much more damage does a fire weapon do against an ice enemy compared to a neutral weapon or shock weapon? Would be interesting to see.
This is helpful. I didn't know there was 2 damages. I thought you just try to kill it. But how do you hit for yellow damage? It didn't notice where it explains this. Just explains about hitting for it with some demonstration.
Great info... just started playing, but i have been watching and waiting since the early days( i dont have a pc for gaming) this has been a fun couple of days
just so console players know. on Xbox One X the orange prongs dont appear, however you can still interupt the attacks you just have to either learn whats interruptable through trial and error or wait until they patch it lol
best use of a sword's shockwaves or tetsuga tenshou whichever is get close to the part then..use Combo YY-(X Repeat)(or just spam X after 2 Y's) the behemoth will take massive dps.
Enjoyed the video and learned a lot. Now I know to not just swing wildly and try to kill the behemoth ASAP. I smashed the subscribe button and look forward to going through your videos in the coming days!
Amazing video! Please do a video on what weapons are for what particular play style? I downloaded the game on the PS4 but I can’t decide what weapon to use!
Try them all! See what you like the feel of, and make sure you check your movelists, and use the weapon abilities. There's nothing wrong with changing between each weapon depending on what you want to play and what you're fighting.
Does anyone know if the "Prongs" that appear during a Behemoths interrupatble attacks are glitched on Console? I didnt even realize that those were a thing until this video. This feature doesnt seem to be working on console.
I don't see a lot of videos that tell you exactly how the interrupts work, is it a specific attack that can interrupt or any attack but timed correctly? Also not sure why i get grieved and mocked for playing with the pike? Is it considered a noob weapon? is it a bad weapon?
You get griefed and mocked for playing with the pike? What? That's...really, really odd. It's easy to use, but it's not a noob trap - good pike play is useful against any behemoth. So long as you're stabbing more than slashing most of the time, and wounding parts then moving on (provided you don't want that particular part, of course), you're doing your job. If you want the part you're stabbing, then stab til the wound shows up, and go to town with the slashing attacks on that same part. Make sure you're interrupting anything you can with your shots too - good ones to practice on are Shrike and Embermane if you feel unconfident with it. As a pike main here, I don't think I've ever seen anyone grief someone for using it - but I'm also on the AUS server, so maybe people on your server have just decided that it's a crap weapon for whatever reason. Doesn't make it true, but it might take a lot of ignoring them and learning your poison through and through to shut them up.
great vid and learnt some new things too, just letting you know the video isn't in the dauntless Ultimate Beginner guide playlist for some reason. Keep up the good work dude!
This is super informative but I don't get the alert above the behemoths head at all for an interupt attack? I'm on ps4 and can't seem to see a setting for this, does anyone on know how I get it?
@@RevvyVtuber oh that's handy what gear set is it normally? i just started playing dauntless and i already for the ember chain blades to lvl 5 with for part breaking
I wonder, is it possible to interrupt with a War Pike? Because I’ve been wanting to get into a more heavy damage class due to that all of my mates have like +3 weapons while I’m here with a +6 war pike and doing little to no damage, I want to deal damage to parts for crafting so I can make stronger gear but I’m not really doing all too much to help finish the hunt successfully
I do love that mod. But yeah, your window with the pike is the same as everyone else. You just need to read movements a little ahead of time and prepare your interrupts, since you need to plant your feet and charge your shot to fire.

Can you explain how the ranking after a hunt (d,c,b,a,s, etc..) works. Like is it just damage that affects your post-hunt rank or what?
Cade hudson mostly how much damage you take
It's a combination of overall damage done to the behemoth (not part damage) and damage taken
I dont think ive seen them on ps4 either or i wasnt paying attention but i hope it get fixed soon
Yeah I was watching this and thinking "I've never seen those indicators", now I know why lol.
Hey so maybe i missed it but on Xbox what’s the interrupt button? Or is it just attacking it
@@QwannyMon as a general rule of thumb roll attacks or powerful special attacks or grenades are best used to interrupt
To be honest I'm mainly hitting and running and repeating or just hitting from range with the guns.
best use of a sword's shockwaves or tetsuga tenshou whichever
is get close to the part then..use Combo
YY-(X Repeat)(or just spam X after 2 Y's) the behemoth will take massive dps.
gained a new sub my guy!!! great vid . easy to understand and informative. thank you!!
Thank you, Sophia.
Great video bro I Learned a lot, u gained a new sub
Very helpful video.have the interruption markers been taken out of the game?because I can't see them on xbox one.
Enjoyed the video and learned a lot. Now I know to not just swing wildly and try to kill the behemoth ASAP. I smashed the subscribe button and look forward to going through your videos in the coming days!
Cannot wait to get back into dauntless, last time I played the repeaters were just announced so bit behind
So much to try out! Excited for you!
Good guide man. Thanks for the help!
Wait i thought only heavy attacks boop? Are you dodging into a light attack or heavy?
CalmDown Bruh with the sword, you can boop with a well timed dodge roll + light attack.
Amazing video! Please do a video on what weapons are for what particular play style? I downloaded the game on the PS4 but I can’t decide what weapon to use!
Try them all! See what you like the feel of, and make sure you check your movelists, and use the weapon abilities. There's nothing wrong with changing between each weapon depending on what you want to play and what you're fighting.
hOW ARE YOU doing INTERRUPT ATTACK like when he comes dashing toward you but he falls when you attack
He literally explains it in the video
@@FriendlySpatula No he doesn't. He doesn't say what attack he's doing.
It's called a boop, he explains it in the video. Whenever they have those marks on their head that means you can boop them.
Does anyone know if the "Prongs" that appear during a Behemoths interrupatble attacks are glitched on Console? I didnt even realize that those were a thing until this video. This feature doesnt seem to be working on console.
Are all behemoths legs parts? How do you know what are parts? Does the appearance of legs change when it's broken?
How do u keep knocking embrace down? How?
Do a heavy attack when it does it's interruptible charge attack.
Might get back into this game. I stopped some time before the repeaters were announced
It feels so great! I'm a returning player as well and going through the beginner parts makes me so happy. :P
How does wound damage work does it just make the part have less part damage or does it like increase your damage?
Wounds increase you, and your parties part damage for easier breaks. Once its break, the wound disappears.
@@RevvyVtuber so one it glows blue it takes more part damage
@@h4xnslash900 yup!
Great guide, really helped
Been using the hammer, but will try the sword to get more parts
Get a buddy to run polearm. Win win.
I shall take these tips and help for my own experience, thank you!
If I can ever get into the game....70,000 long queues!
TheSaltSeeker2 It takes only like 20 mins to get in with 70k queue
@@GoldtisticYT Not quite, took half an hour for the queue to go down from 70k to 50k last night.
Hey dude, quick question, can you do a guide for booping? I'm really really bad at it, and I play with striker, so I feel I should know hoe to do it.
Great Info, thanks for the Heads Up.
Thanks I'm new to this game and it helps a lot Thanks
Hello, do you have any tips to get the rare materials?
great vid and learnt some new things too, just letting you know the video isn't in the dauntless Ultimate Beginner guide playlist for some reason. Keep up the good work dude!
Thank you for responding! Appreciate the feedback and more content is soon to come!
When he charges do you use a light or a heavy attack to drop it? Or doesnt it matter?
Always heavy attack and sometimes grenades, general rule of thumb for most behemoths
I love revvyrad
This is super informative but I don't get the alert above the behemoths head at all for an interupt attack? I'm on ps4 and can't seem to see a setting for this, does anyone on know how I get it?
It isnt on console... I have never seen it and im on ps4
@@dizzyjustin4445 bummer
Can hammer break parts too?
Just what I needed. Thanks.
What does the percentage on the top right corner mean?
It's the danger meter. When it fills up to 100 revives by allies are disabled, only through stims can you revive.
How do do you do the tornado sword spin
Awesome video man i subbed with notifications man i will def be back to see more dauntless and most likely even more man. Great stuff😎💪👌
These are good, very comprehensive even for me! Now to just get passed these long que times...
Great video
Took 2 years for the game to realise hide != legs
nine lives is really good as well it has saved me on some hunts and has allowed me to play a bit more risky
How do i get transmog stones?
Thanks. Im a mh player and i wasnt going for the head, cause i thought that i could only use hammer to break horns
how do you know which leg you didn't break yet?
good shit was wondering what PART dmg was for lmao ^^
been doingg heroic's with 0 knowledge
thanks for the help! i am new to the game and this helped me a lot!
How do you interupt with the chain blades because im currently playing those in dauntless
You need a cell called weighted strikes. And that perk needs to be +6
@@RevvyVtuber thanks for the help because i was wondering how you do that but how do you also lvl up the perks?
@@Tylenish You can craft armor with Weighted strikes on it. Or Use cells.
@@RevvyVtuber oh that's handy what gear set is it normally? i just started playing dauntless and i already for the ember chain blades to lvl 5 with for part breaking
@@Tylenish Shrike gloves will eventually have it.
Yeah, it's possible to interrupt with the pike - you need to use the shot to do it though.
Rhys Camilleri that’s fine, I usually have all 3 shots ready for the fact that I have the mod that increases the shots power over time
I do love that mod. But yeah, your window with the pike is the same as everyone else. You just need to read movements a little ahead of time and prepare your interrupts, since you need to plant your feet and charge your shot to fire.
Rhys Camilleri thanks man, you’re a massive help
No worries! If you want a demo, I'll be online in half an hour or so, can add you to epic friends and teach you in real time.
Excellent vid. Would love information on weapons and which to prioritize so we don't have to waist so much resources early game. Just want to maximize my playtime
You just taught me so much, thank you.
How do you do those counter attacks?
why is there no heath bar for these monsters
Totally agree...it is sort of annoying?
The more I think about why they did not put a HP bar for the behemoths would probably be for suspense and more anticipation to complete faster!
Because its a rip off of monster hunter which does the same thing lol
How do you gain orbs?
Incredibly helpful. Thanks.
Can you make a video on weapon attacks for the different weapons?
Are you using light attack or heavy to interrupt?
Either work.
Is it okay to just use guns in hunting behemoth
Super underrated channel! On my 4th straight video, dope shit my dude!
About the heartseeker drops, you have to walk over them to collect or it's just like regular loot and you get them at the end anyway?
For me the guides are perfect
I'm super new and I'm not sure how to use the vents or when too.
how come i cant stun the monster with a war pike ? i attacked when the orange marker was up .
great vid
You have to hit it with the ability shot that the pike gets to send things sprawling like that.
Thanks Rev, good job dude.
can you tell me how to make the camera further away from ym character and damage numbers actually seeable? mine fly out top of my screen in milliseconds..impossible to tell what im doing, halp
You could try increasing the FOV in the options
Solo hunts seem to be extremely easy I can break parts left and right but group hunts monsters seem to run around more and of course have more health, and no one focuses parts
Also, most hunts are easier solo because the behemoths can be predicted better due to them not swapping their target every 5 seconds.
Is it just me or does console not get the orange markers over it’s head?
When fighting a specific Behemoth let’s say a Boreus, is it better to wear frost resist armor or have armor designed around your build ?
Frost resist or neutral if it's better, fire weapon or any non-ice weapon if they're better than the fire weapon.
