The gear it auto shifts down to when stopped is user configurable on the Kiox unit - you don't have to stay with 5th. I have mine set to 8.

01:25 you can set the starting gear to a higher gear on any Bosch interface.

Great video running through a few tips to fine tune the e-bike. But a couple of queries:
    1. That headlight - the front bag is going to shadow the road illumination really badly. The best place for any headlight is at the fork crown and R&M really need to develop an simple bracket to mount the headlight beneath the rack, perhaps a suspension bridge mount or off the front of the rack (though this is not so good as the rack does not turn with the steering).
    2. Front loads for touring. Is there any way to mount a front rack to carry panniers on the front end? Racks mounted low on the front forks? These are almost essential for good balanced bike-handling when loaded up.
    3. I use a Rohloff on my touring bike (Thorn Nomad Mk2) and I set up my gear range so that most of the time I use gears 8-14 for riding around town, as these are the more efficient range to use. Dropping to gear 5 at the lights would be a real pain, as that is far too low for most take-offs. Can this auto down-shift be programmed to a different gear?

All good points. Note that when the bike is ordered with the front bag the light is installed in front of the rack. Though, your point re: the light not moving with the wheel remains valid. For point 3, yes.

Seit 18 Januar 2024 super charger 3 hs rohloff Bike. Mein erstes neues s Pedelec .
Neuen riemen bekommen.

Nice video. I’m considering the Multicharger at present and have read similar concerns to your statement re: the cargo bags being difficult to take on/off quickly. Do you have another recommendation?

Loved the video and great to hear from an ebike expert who happens to own one too! I've got a supercharger 2 on the way and I'm looking at getting some extra batteries (perhaps overkill haha), could you confirm that the supercharger2 HS uses a Bosch PowerTube 625Wh vertical and horizontal (one of each) battery? Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback Niall. We don't have the HS version in Australia so suggest you check R&Ms website (choose which country you are in) and they list the full specifications there 👍

As per my colleague the best way is to check the RM website but I can tell you my bike has 2 vertical batteries. It refers to the positioning/orientation of the cells within the battery!

I live in Auckland and I am so tempted to purchase this bike, for I have been looking and reading the specifics on various videos. Auckland has rainy days all the time, because of the weather condition in Auckland, how does this bike handle the rainy days ?

  • @homeworshipwithmartyandamy7754

Hello, my dream would be to ride across United States, but I was wondering if this bikes motor can handle handle the Rockies, Ozarks, mountains? It would be on paved roads pulling a small trailer. Do you know anybody who has done this type of ride whether in the US or Europe. It seems so many of the other E bikes have 500, 750, watts motors here United States, while the Bosch I believe is 250 Watts. Thank you for your time.

This is the exact bike that Gregory Maassen used to do his solo solo ride, coast to coast across America. 7,500km ridden on gravel and tarmac; total bike load of 188kg; steepest climb 27.1%; completed in four months. You can see his route on his website here

@@simonbender Quick clarification, the rear wheel lock comes as standard with this bike (at the moment) but not the alarm lock. Please always refer to the Riese Und Muller product page for what comes with the bike as this changes!
