I like the lighter color wallpaper on the left for the wall, it goes well with the floor. If you really want to step outside of your comfort zone, paint your bookcase one of the bold colors from the rug, like that orange/russ like color! I think that would pop!

Absolutely YES. .love the Rug...I am all about " Colour " with Rugs/ Pillows/ Accessories... and let the Drapes, big pieces of Furniture stay " Neutral "....and add thise Metalluc Accents. The colours in the Rug are great, ( I'm not sure I am totally ' sold " on the Pattern,lol) but the Colours themselves are fabulous! Watching from the Midwest .

Rug totally works; lamp works too. Wall paper = both are nice but the orangy one is more "stimulating" to the senses and may clash w/the rug and lamp, the other is calmer and make work better, imo.

I live in Atlanta, currently watching from Jacksonville, Florida. I LOVE the rug, once I saw it with the sofa and nesting coffee tables, I was like YEEESSS... it is beautiful. I can vision pops of color in the bookcase that coincide with the rug and throw pillows on the sofa to do the same. Maybe a basket tray made from the same material of the lamp shade on the coffee table with linen coffee table books and a candle to bring the look together. TFS
I just emptied my storage unit and other than a piece to update my space every now and then I won't need to purchase any decor for a few years lol. I don't go for trends, my style is international so it's timeless. Love what you've done so far. Looking forward to seeing your new direction. Maybe it'll help me figure out placement, right now I'm overwhelmed trying to figure a place for everything and put everything in it's place. It's hard to say not being in the room but the orange paper may clash with the floor. On the other hand the lighter color may blend in and make the space too bland. Since you've gone with a colorful rug and rattan lamp shade I'm thinking the orange may be the way to go. Not being able to experience the space in different lighting it's a hard decision to make. I would paint the bookcases a darker color such as Expresso or black and then wallpaper the back of the cabinet with wallpaper of your choosing....Really nice compliment to your decor

Neutrals while classy can be boring but if you don't know how to add color and texture, the grounding of neutrals can get lost. Right side wallpaper, the rug is warm also, it will all come together,perhaps pull in some pillows or covers with a couple colors from rug: rearrange.. Maybe get a chair that has slipcover choices, as you change things ,can always be able to change for less money! I lost my husband of 36 years, during cvd, but for awhile it's like I couldn't remember him anymore, also dealing with pancreatic cancer this year ,so just recently, memories have been flooding back ,trips we took together, little things he did ,he wasn't afraid to be goofy, I miss him terribly ,but I know everything will be alright, God is with me. I pray you find much comfort in your memories!!
