  • Your vehicle has many different parts that function in many different ways to make it run correctly. Over time some of these parts will go bad and need to be replaced. The Breather valve on your Vehicle is an important part, and when it goes bad, it can cause your vehicle to burn excessive oil. This video shows you how to replace or modify a Breather Valve on a Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave & GMC Acadia from 2009-2017.

    Good video. It's worth mentioning that when placing the valve back in after drilling and cleaning out, or replacing with a new one, the easiest method to use is socket and hammer - place the valve in the hole, put socket over valve and tap on the socket with the hammer.

    I discovered one of those trim tool pry bars actually works great at prying it out of the manifold.

    Spread the word. Apparently 2014 and newer comes with bigger hole to fix this GM problem. I drilled my holes on my 2012 traverse, it was consuming oil

    Did that to mine, 2010 Traverse. Still burns oil like crazy. No leaks. What's on the opposite end of the hose on this part? A PCV Valve? Can these go bad also?

    Had a really hard time getting mine out. The new one slid in the hole much easier than I thought it would, there is some drag but I can pull it back out with my fingers, do you know if this is normal? There was no grommet or rubber seal that I could see when removing it and looking at diagrams it doesn't appear to be anything other than the metal PCV valve. Appreciate the video!

    Could this cause loss of power and the engine to rumble when putting in gas?

  • @godovermoney1124

    So if the holes are clogged how does oil get through it to be sucked into the engine? I'm confused

  • @godovermoney1124
    @godovermoney1124 Год назад

    One would think that being clogged it would prevent oil from being sucked into the engine? Am I missing something here?

  • @mattday172

    Looks like a pcv valve. You can usually get one at the auto parts store. Don't drill things that could drop metal in you engine.

    I have a 2016 Chevy Traverse Lt AWD my PCV value tip of it broke of of any help how to get it out would be appreciated I was told maybe a trim tool fork tool would get it out with taking of intake manifold and valve covers. I priced out value cover gaskets at AutoZone dam $92 for the set plus intake manifold gaskets another $50 this is ridiculous

    My Buick is sputtering , got tune up, changed air filter I’m wondering if it’s the pcv valve now because there’s a little oil in my intake, and rpm slightly jumps on acceleration like it’s not getting enough of “something “ idk

  • @Ranbuli

    Is the PCV orifice on Enclave 2016 supposed to be removable? All part stores say the orifice fits Enclave up to 2015, but nobody sells the PCV orifice for 2016, although 2016 has the same PCV tubing. I can't remove the orifice on my 2016, the sealant is so strong and there is no room back there. I just insert an iron wire very deep to unclog the hole.

    If you are coming here for a quick fix please note that the oil consumption problem is a flaw in the engine. And is a known issue. The only way to fix it is to rebuild the engine or buy a new one. GM had known about this issue for years now. There is no quick fix. Sadly.
