I'm making one of these. Some one came into the shop and just gave me a SNES. The casing of it is completely yellow and brittle like the damn thing was played out side. All the guts work, and even if they didn't, we would have repaired it. So my wife and I are going to make this. Great video and inspiration for us Richard!!

You should test it out with Star Fox as well if you get a chance. SMW2 and Star Fox both contain the Super FX chip, so if Star Fox also doesn't work, then you know you probably cut something out which you shouldn't have ;D
+andrewpum Did, as well as Mega Man X2/X3. They didn't seem to give me the same trouble as SMW2. Just like the NES, some games seem to be much pickier than others. Kind of a bummer. Having to rotate the cartridge orientation 90 degrees didn't help matters much. Not sure exactly which signals are crapping out. May revisit it someday.
