Well described narration of this tragedy. I am heart broken once again by listening to this. I have climbed a few times with Martin Moran and also once with Chetan Pandey and John McLaren, three of the eight who passed away in this tragedy and also with Mark/Zac/Ian, three of the four who had gone to set the route on ND-E. So the tragedy hit hard. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of the climbers involved in the tragedy and salute the rescue teams for the difficult task of performing the recovery of the bodies. Martin was a fantastic climber and a great human being. I was with him on three of his expeditions in the Indian Himalaya and have also climbed with him in Scotland in the winter. I had met his wife and son as well. Very heart breaking.
I have known through a REUTERS article that they scaled the unclimbed peak for acclimatization and not for its summit. Their motive was to climb Nanda Devi East Sunanda peak only.
