Nice job! I'm doing almost all the repaires/enhancements for my car because I hate giving other people money for doing a job I'm better at. So keep up the good work! And the money in your pocket.. :)
i need to get one of those extension bars to undo the engine mount, tried a normal ractchet and sock I need the long extension bar, also because the bolts are on so tight normal brute force wont undo them.I will try putting the extension and socket onto my electric drill i may get them undone
This is the SHW type water pump, which has a metal gasket. Wonder if sealant if still required when replacing a Pierburg type pump, which comes with a rubber gasket.
Answering myself: Pierburg ones (the ones with the bolt on plate on top) come with a plastic impeller, SHW ones (the one with no bolt on plate) come with a metal impeller.

@@incapabledub that is needed man but i order another 1 with the other bit on there so it will be ok now but what is that suff you spraying to help slide the pipe back on called thanks man
***** just the trolly jack with some flat wood to help spread the load. I actually left the engine supported on some blocks of wood overnight so i could put the jack back in my garage. There's not alot of weight with these engines. Thanks for your comment, i'm hoping to make more detailed videos as car repair seems to be quite popular.
i was looking to try do the job myself as my head gaskets are going so thought i could cut the cost down on the repair as i know they will change the water pump.
i cheated a bit, i just pulled the return hose off the top of the water pump, stuffed my garden hose in the header tank and forced the air out that way, then topped up with anti-freeze. From what i could see there's no bleed screw anywhere on this system.
oh right, I have got a waterpump with drive belt so would I be okay when I change the water pump with new drive belt as it doesn't need to change the timing?
That's one pro of chain driven timing, like on the GM Family 0. Replacing water pump gets easier. The con is, you have to be very careful about correct oil and correct oil and filter service intervals and it can get very expensive to replace.
very bad video. Don't forget this is a TUTORIAL video and not for show us your technical skills. One of bad points was that you didn't show us how you supported the engine.
Thanks!
Always nice to take a watch of what one is about to do ;)

NO!
Brilliant video. Very helpful.
barry dupee glad it helped barry
How about showing how to remove airlock from heater matrix too.
So, water pumps for the Z12XE (including the original one) all have a metal impeller, right?
Answering myself: Pierburg ones (the ones with the bolt on plate on top) come with a plastic impeller, SHW ones (the one with no bolt on plate) come with a metal impeller.
Hello, how do you release the belt tension? How you get the belt of and on? Thanks. Free beer if we meet...
what were the symptoms with the pump, that it needed replacement? Did the engine temp gauge go over 90 C?
Michał Lukasz usually a bad bearing that causes leakage.
How high does your jack go I need to get one similar as the one I have won’t raise the engine enough for me to reach the bottom bolt on engine mount 😣
Lower the jack

Very Nice 👌
Ηow did the cooling system ventilate( vaporization ) after the coolant came out?
InstaBlaster...
You open up expansion tank cap and run the engine for 15 minutes. Cooling system will bleed itself out of any air

Good video. What did you use to support the engine when you took out the braces??

Is the blue to the gasket grease?
Please anyone know what type of pump is this? with sensor or without sensor?
+Diesel Weasel Workshop
Whats the sealant you are using?
hylomar. i zoom into the product pretty clearly.
You want high temperature resistant silicone. They sell proper silicone for water pump on ebay
i cant get the belt back on :'(
how did you managed to change the waterpump without change the timing marks??
chris0147 its not timed by that belt it uses a chain. thats just a drive belt for water pump and power steering etc.
oh right, I have got a waterpump with drive belt so would I be okay when I change the water pump with new drive belt as it doesn't need to change the timing?
chris0147 if the belts not driving the camshaft you dont have to worry about timing

haha yeah missed that bit, not really a detailed how to, just me and a friend messing with his new camera. It magically bleeds the system too ;)
