Thank you so much for making this video! My version of office is in the hidden appdata\etc folder. I couldn't even have guessed at where it was without your help.
Holy beejeezuz it friggin worked (and I'm not really a computer person). It took me a while to find the folder to put it into (about an hour). But I got there. Thanks!! :)
I have gone through this process C:\Users\THE_USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style But could not install any new style in my Office 2019 pro plus. Please help me
Thank you very much sir! I would recommend adding a little a youtube annotation explaining the different path for versions of Word after 2013 -- what you explained in the comments to Gunting Oren.
Hi there! I have Office15 and am struggling to find the right place to copy the Vancouver file. If I go into C:\Users\THE_USERNAME\AppData, there is no "Roaming" folder. Is there anything else I could try?
+Luke Sher Are you sure you accesed the right username? (i.e the username where the software is installed). Or try this path instead: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\Bibliography\Style. Please let me know if there is anything else I can be of assistance.
Thank you for this. I have a problem though. I downloaded and installed the bibliography styles then I did a in text citation and selected the Vancouver style, all of the styles I just added where there to choose from. Then I selected insert/document elements/bibliography to create a bibliography list at the end of the document. The elements gallery appears and then i am asked to confirm the citation style in a drop down menu on the left side of document. In the drop down menu none of the citation style I added from this download are there only the 4 default styles. Would please happen to know of a solution for this? It would be most appreciated. Thank you Andrew
hi! I tried installing the Harvard AGPS but it does not show up. I have tried both the AppData location and the one on ProgramFiles(x84) but it still does not show up. I have Word 2016 and Widnows 10. Thanks for the help!
@@iFrancisc Pretty sure. There were only 2 files under the User, one named "public" and another one named "user". The only folder containing a Roaming folder was the "user" one. Thank you so much for taking any time to help me! No need to rush!
I downloaded the vancouver style, but I don't know where to put it in the style folder. I can't find the library folder anywhere. Could you please help me? I have the latest version of word. I believe it is 2015.
+prinses369 Contact me on Facebook or Google+ and we'll do a TeamViewer session. I am not familiar with Office versions above 2013 edition, so I can't give you any advice. (By the way, it should be Office 2016; there's no 2015 edition)
Thanks a lot for this. I just have a question as I cannot seem to cite more than 1 source at a time with this...Is there an option of citing like 3 references for one sentence? I dont see the option in doing that...
John Lee You're welcome. Do you need to cite 3 sources like this (with superscript what follows) [1], [2], [3]? In Office 2013, on the References tab, in the third section, click on Insert Citation ---> Add New Source, and after you added the data click OK< where your cursor is placed, there will your citation be inserted. You just need to add one source at a time; after the source is added in the library (Manage sources) from Insert Citation you just choose where to add it in the text.
Dear Francisc, Vancouver style can be used with superscript ^3 (can't do the superscript here) reference or in-line with parenthesis (1). When i installed this version i can only do the in-line parenthesis. How do i activate the superscript style? Kind regards!
+Abigael B I'm sorry I can't be of much help. Maybe this RUclips video (MS Word macro suprescript for reference number) can give you some idea...: ruclips.net/video/56HWKBuM-zg/видео.html
Hi! I copy the files to the bibliography>styles folder but then they dont appear on Word, I tried re-opening it as well and nothing. Am I missing a step? :)
tizgelmi Hi :). No... if you followed to steps presented above, it should work... . But, if you use Office 2013, than you need to do this: C:\Users\THE_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style and copy there the *.xsl files. In the Users directory, you may have multiple folders (Admin, YOURNAME, Public, etc)
This tutorial applies only for Office versions up to 2013 because I didn't had access to higher versions; I'm sorry. If you want, I can try via a TeamViewer session to solve the problem; contact me privately (on my channel, in the tab "About" you can find my email) to set up the session if you want me to try solving this issue for you.
I see. Before downgrading, I suggest a solution I cannot guarantee 100% for, but it's worth trying; I've done it in Office 2013 and it worked, and Office 2016 is not that different as far as I am concerned: For Office 2013 and [maybe] above: C:\Users\THE_USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style *THE_USERNAME is your username - e.g. Admin, Administrator, etc., where your software is installed. You are welcome! P.S. I would kindly like to ask to let me know, if this path worked for Office 2016.
You’re doing it wrong. C:\Users\THE_USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style *THE_USERNAME is your username - e.g. Admin, Administrator, etc.
Hi! I was wondering what if in the Bibliography folder, instead of *.xsl files, there's an *.xml document. I tried pasting it there but it doesn't come up in Word.
+Kathleen Tronco I don't know what happens inside the Office software but if it doesn't show up, it surely doesn't work. It's a different format anyway…. If you need a specific format for your referencing, just write one in Notepad++ using another one as a draft.
+Falak Naz Make sure that the file you want to copy there is an *.xsl file and also, follow the steps from the video description correctly. Let me know if you need further assistance.

for office 2013: C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style (and in that folder you have to paste to *.xsl files) AppData - may be a hidden folder (if you don't see it you have to activate the function that enables you to see hidden folders as well: in a random explorer window[win7]: Organize(under Back and Forward arrows)->Folder and Search Options->View (tab)->Show hidden fildes, folders and drives). Sorry for getting so late back to you. It is not very complicated, but you need to have some programming knowledge. For the version I use (Office 2021) the pathway ist:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
oot\Office16\Bibliography\Style
There you choose one Referencing Style, you copy it (i.e. duplicate) and adapt it to your prefered style. You will have to save it in the same location. Kind regards.
