Your production quality is high and all though I just discovered you a few months ago I consider you one of the best action figure reviewer's. Never stop & thanks for sharing

    As a child of the 70s, Christopher Reeve was my Superman so when I got the chance to get the 1/4 scale Neca Superman at a decent price I jumped in. Wow!! It's exquisite, well deserving of the number one spot!

    My one and only Superman toy was an Action man with a paper cape.. I also had an A team van which was a generic black van by matchbox(?) with a nail polish stripe, and a Herbie which was a German police VW beetle with white out paint and marker and ball point pen stripes. My TIE fighter was made from two toilet rolls..

      I knew a guy who made the entire Justice League out of notebook paper and tape. They had like, brick shaped bodies with tube shaped limbs. They would have looked sharp carved out of wood.

    A lot of these are pure childhood nostalgia relics, but I love the New Frontier Superman by DC Direct. It has an authentic early Siegel-Shuster combo of Fleischer emblem and George Reeves Superman vibe [no spit curl].

    Oh Dan Larson, I like your style. Icons Superman is great as is the Superman from the Doomsday set. NECA Superman is a ton of fun and a well made figure. Super Powers Superman would be my number 1. I put that guy through everything! Honorable mention, and it deserves to be mentioned, is the Super Friends Superman from the Multiverse line. It's got that 6" style that I've come to enjoy and the cloth cape I love and prefer. Plus, the pack in stand has fantastic art on it.

    Pleased to see the DC Direct Superman on the list. That entire line is so amazing. The Cyborg Superman from that line is my favorite action figure of all time. The Cyborg superman looks like it came right out of the pages of the Superman comics of the 90's as drawn by Dan Jurgens. I was not aware of the NECA Chris Reeve Superman...it is now on my short list of things to buy. The DC Direct Superman and Cyborg Superman were sculpted by Tim Bruckner.

  • @tommytoytravels

    Completely agree with your #1. Such a great figure. It makes me cry so much that NECA doesn't have a license to make DC, Marvel and TMNT figures.
    I've really been enjoying your videos. A lot of my beliefs regarding figures and what makes a good figure have been challenged. Thanks for opening my mind!

    • @SecretGalaxyTV

      Thanks for watching, glad to have you on board! NECA is just doing a totally different thing than anyone else in the action figure industry and should really be recognized for it regularly. Saw the Weird Al figure the other day. I'll definitely be getting that.

  • @darthbaldi4375
    @darthbaldi4375 8 лет назад +4

    I think the new neca superman vs Mohammed Ali figure would take the number one spot once it comes out. Cloth cape with S logo on it, good articulation and a comic styled paint job. I'm super excited.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 лет назад

      Definitely looks cool. I'd love them to be able to release that mold painted "normal" without all the comic book lines. But either way I think it looks fantastic.

    I've never been happy with any comic book superman figure released by any company. It's either bad articulation, wrong suit, blue being too dark, or bad head sculpt. The one I go with for my display is a kitbash i made comprised of the dc multiverse super friends superman body for the right color and reasonable articulation, a wire Cape glued on that I found on Ebay for a thor figure and the head that I went with was from the dc direct silver age/robot superman. For what I'm looking for, it's the best I can do. I really hope that with mcfarlane toys taking the license they can give me something I actually want to put on my shelf.

    I definitely feel as if Mattels DCSH Superman should've been included instead of the DCUC version. While the colors on the DCSH version mimicked the colors of the Superman Returns costume, the face sculpt alone was more superior then the DCUC version. They also shared almost identical bodies.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 лет назад

      You know what? You're totally right. As much as I tried to do my research and track everything down (and... as many Superman figures as I own personally) I didn't even know that one existed. I'm going to go see if I can purchase it right now. Thanks!

    • @charlesblack1491
      @charlesblack1491 8 лет назад +2

      Yes get it! It's an awesome figure. It's the first poseable Superman figure that was around at the time of Toybiz Marvel Legends. And hey I know you're not the biggest Batman fan but if you do a similar segment you should probably pick up the DCSH Batman as well. The details on that figure totally trumps the DCUC version.

  • @kal54321
    @kal54321 3 года назад

    The 2003 DC Direct figure doesn't have alternate heads/hands, but there is a Cyborg Superman, Eradicator, and Black Suit Superman from The Return of the Superman storyline. Those figures are all similar. The Cyborg Superman DC Direct figure is my personal favorite Superman figure. The Cyborg Superman and regular Superman were sculpted by the great Tim Bruckner. The Eradicator, Black Suit Superman, Superboy and Steel figures were sculpted by James Shoop (I believe). All of these figures have held their value well. The Cyborg Superman (on card) sells for at least $150.

    I'm fascinated that DC Direct thought #2's bicep swivel would fly. It's kind of a bizarre design choice. Very 90's for a more modern figure. Glad it didn't catch on. Minimates Superman would have to be my favorite.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 лет назад

      So many of those early DC Direct figure were really just statue with arbitrary, inconsistently placed articulation that served no purpose for posing the figure in any other position than the statue type position that they came in.

    • @D21BeastReviews
      @D21BeastReviews 8 лет назад

      Toy Galaxy Yeah, I suppose that's why I never felt compelled to collect them. Even if I just pose a figure on a shelf for a year in the same position, I like have the option to change the way they're standing at some point.

    Christopher Reeve is my Superman as well. Been watching the movies since I can remember and still enjoying them to this day in high school. Recently shared them with my best friend whom had never seen the Donner/Reeve Superman films and needless to say, I have gathered us another Super-fan. Before he was aaaaall about Batman and the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy, or anything Batman period. After watching the movies, he has much more respect for the Man of Steel and regards Reeve as the one true Superman. Christopher Reeve IS Superman. I will hear nothing more. Lol. He was and always will be the best Superman we got on the silver screen, with Reeve it was like Superman literally stepped right out of the comics and onto the screen. RIP Christopher Reeve, much love and respect to the man who made us believe one could fly

    I enjoy the DC Universe Classics Superman’s even though his face sculpt kind makes him look like David Hasselhoff. My favorite is the DC Direct but the wrist joints are notoriously fragile even in later editions like the vs. Doomsday 2 pack.

    I really love the Ed McGuinness sculpts. There's a shiny, almost metallic, Supes, a robot Supes, an old Supes with grey temples and long cape and I think there are red and blue Supes, too. They are pretty limited in articulation, but the chunky sculpt just looks terrific, I think. My 2 cents worth.

    Great video and great list. While I cannot argue with your choices I can ask why no 12 1/2" Christopher Reeve Mego Superman from 1978? As much as I love all of my Hot Toys Superman figures this was the one and only Chris Reeve Supes for over 30 years. He was bigger than the standard 12" Mego or 12" figure in general and more muscular than Big Jim. He was not just my Superman but THE Superman figure.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 лет назад +1

      You know, I have that figure and it's sitting on the shelf right next to me as I type this and I considered putting him on there, but ultimately I went with the regular WGSH Mego Superman. I felt like that figure was more well known, more popular, had a greater impact on the toy industry and covered that whole Mego department.
      Like I said though, lots of good figures. Hard to really make those cuts at the end of the day. I had *5* honorable mentions that didn't make it into the final cut of this video.

    • @trapierjervay46
      @trapierjervay46 8 лет назад

      I think fans like myself who can't get enough Toy Galaxy would have loved to have seen your honorable mentions. Also, your reasoning is sound; the original WGSH Superman, to me, would be more groundbreaking if Ideal hadn't done the Captain Action Superman set in 1966. But, when it comes to one of the greatest toylines of all-time, WGSH, this was THE Superman figure. With this being 2016 and most of the figures we buy today have the likeness of an actor and the Mego Chris Reeve Superman was groundbreaking for me because he was the definition of Superman. They changed to character in the comics to reflect Christopher Reeve's portrayal and this was the only 12" figure they ever made of him up until Hot Toys. Even for 1978 the likeness was pretty good. I too have him sitting on a shelf but he sits alone; that's how important of a figure he is to me.

  • @JosephGualtieri
    @JosephGualtieri 6 лет назад

    I'd have liked to have seen the DC Direct All-Star Superman figure on here, but that's kind of a personal preference thing. The figure that makes no sense being left off the list and should have been top 2 is the DC Direct Showcase Presents Silver Age Superman figure which comes with four interchangeable heads-- regular, lion, bug-eyed, and big brain, all reflecting actual Silver Age Stories (plus three sets of hands). Finally, the sculpt looks exactly like Wayne Boring's art style.

    I have the Henry Cavill Hot Toys BvS and the Christopher Reeves Superman from Neca in 1/4. I prefer the neca version.

    Wow. Almost all of those looked... awkward or just awful. Though I think that really points to the fact that things like GI Joe are almost cheating in this regard, with how much uniform embellishments and equipment can help hide joints and seams.

    I'd rank Super Powers Superman # 1 and Neca Reeve Superman # 2 . So many figures got Superman wrong in my mind that I'm not even sure I can make a Top 10 lol

    8 upset. 90s Toybiz needs to get top 5. You got a Kryptonite ring with it, that made his joints limp when you held it to his chest! Come on!
