Im so glad to see people from 10 years ago here saying how they liked the gameplay change or how they are fine with this game trying something new. I like a lot Mario Party 9 and hope more people could respect this game for its merits instead of bitching.
I haven't played this yet, and it looks like a good game. Just because it's too different from what you've been growing up with during the N64 and GCN era doesn't mean it's bad.
Mario Party needs to make Mario Party 10 as a Costume theme series! Mario Party 2 had awesome costumes and other stuff! They went downhill after MP5..they even took out DK.
BTW, the turn shuffle is probably the smartest thing they could have added. I remember being screwed so many times by the turn order. That should have been put in 9 game ago lol
@DinerSals That's the major point of the mario spin-off games like the sports and party games. You use items to attack you opponents to make sure you reach victory.
I like how their all in the same car but the mini games are a little cheesy. The boss battles seem cool and also the bowser gate at the end is cool. p.s. how'd you get this game already!?!?

All that matters is how fun we have together while playing the game, not if we're in a car or not. Or maybe you guys don't play the games for fun? @JimTheEliminator I vastly disagree. MP9 is a reskin of Wii Party. I really really love the mini games for all the previous games over this one too. The new party system is is bad, just saying, especially considering for something so fresh, it got bad extremely quickly. I did not find it easy to screw over an opponent, everything I found, goes against what you said. Though I respect your opinion! It is not easy for me to find someone like you so optimistic over this Wii Party with Mario's face.
@Deffpoised I tried something new. Mario Party 9, hated it, will not play. I'm going back to Mario Party 8, and all the games before that. I really liked the minigames in the previous games too over MP9's. MP9 has a soft, soccer mom touch to the minigames.

I got this for christmas and I'm so done with this game >:O there are no fair chances the bowler battle with bomb-mustache thing is so programmed to pick your bomb 9 times out of ten and if he doesn't the only other player (the cpu) picks the same one as you. anything that requires luck is totally rigged and the minigames all feel the same I miss the ds version :(

I was actually disappointed in Mario Party 9. they changed it, but it was the bad change, changed it for worse! I'm sorry but this is not what I expect nor wanted from a Mario Party game, even after it was explained on the commercials. I expect this from Sonic, not Mario.
Mario Party 9 is a fine game. The minigames are a vast improvement over Mario Party 8's (the minigames just kept going down after Mario Party 6, and MP8's were just awful). The new party mode system is different, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It actually keeps the game fresh and engaging. Just because you all travel together doesn't mean it's all sharing and caring. It's actually easier than ever to screw over an opponent because of this (such as leading them into Mini Ztars).
I dont care what people say, i have played every Mario Party since #1 and im just as excited for this one. I think its more fair with the mini stars, and a better chance for everybody to win. And the fact that everybody travels together adds a whole new stratagy. I like it and cant wait, there was nothing wrong with the first 8, and there is nothing wrong with this one. TRUE MARIO PARTY FAN
this game looks more fun than I initially hoped for.. I like the fact that they're trying something new with the series, and so far I'm pretty excited to give it a go myself
I honestly thought nintendo would mess this game up, but on the ironically, this video gave me a perspective on how good it is. The new game type is going to take time to get used to (Since Mario Party used to be a board game type of thing) but I think it's manageable ^__^, Wish there were more characters though. I miss Toadette, Blooper, and Hammer Bro
@Linksapprentice100 Did you see the game boards? There's no way the "option" to play in the old way would work. They're designed in a linear fashion, they don't loop around.
@DinerSals Your point stands because your not talking about Mario games where you can mess up your friends and your friends can mess you up, your talking about the regular mario games where you just go through world to world and try to save peach from bowser. so you can't make a point if we aren't talking about the same thing. Mario Party doesn't go in that category where those games stand.

@tnt551 What the hell are you talking about? We're talking about Mario Party, not Mario Kart--they're both different genres, so you're comparing apples to oranges for crying out loud. The fact is, repetitiveness can be staved off in multiple ways, and Nd Cube seems to rightfully want to move away from that. It's still a board / party game. Having Mario Kart do what MP9 does would not make it a competitive RACING game.

There is always a minigame mode, in case people don't remember in every MP game.
Well...this is nice, new twist to Mario Party! Sure, it'll take time to adjust to it, but Mario Party 9 looks excellent!
