Hey man, very good video. Just wanted to say, the reason it might be stuck at 59-60 fps is that you might have v-sync turned on. From my experiments, v-sync kinda caps the frame rate to your monitor's refresh rate. You probably knew this by now but if you didn't, there you go. Anyway, good video, keep it up.
Note that the game only runs this fluently on the GTX 960 as MSAA is switched off. This results in ugly effect when objects change their detail level as they close in on the player. It is somewhat visible in the dring scene from 4:30 to 5:00. Look at telegraph poles and especially the metal frame power poles (4:39 +). It appears the thickness of the metal bars changes serveral times. The effect is not as pronounced in this video as it is in actual gameplay, where the sharpness of the objects changes too. During the changes of the detail level, the objects appear overly sharp and show a jagged outline, even though they are supposed to have a flat surface, while in the next second they're softened again. With MSAA active, the ugly effect is gone, but the GTX 960 will then work at around 100% load and frame drops can occur.
GTX 960 SSC ACX 2.0+ graphics card from EVGA. Ran on an seagate 1tb hybrid drive using a 600W power supply. Recorded using Shadowplay. Any other questions?
João Filipe da Costa Sad to say I am. I cringe playing with shitty graphics especially in a time like 2016. Good gameplay always makes up for it but hey, where can you find that nowadays?
I also have your same specs. but when I keep no matter ultra, high, normal it shutters in missions!!!and lags some times in story mode!!!!!!!!!!!very very frustrated!!!!!should I uninstall and reinstall ? because I newly added gtx 960?? or what? please tell me !!!PLEASE P L E A S E!!!!!
the fps dips down to the 40s because its a cut seen the fps doesn't matter as long as its above 30 because you can't feel and input lag during a cut seen. there's a differents from feeling and seeing.
TheGamingAngel Probably better, but not by much. You would be able to max the game out but i doubt you would get great FPS at max settings. Definitely better than the 2gb version though
what do you think about having this and an amd fx 4300 quad core? im plannig on buyinh this and I dont have money for a better cpu, do you think that i will get like 60fps at high?
I haven't played my computer in a year but im looking to upgrade the graphics card and play the witcher 3. I was thinking about the 960 4 gb. Any advice? If there is a good performance increase id not mind spending the 240$ to have good performance. Would a bottle neck or someyhing occur? Its cpu is amd fx 8350 Card is nvidia 650 overclocked 2 gb i think And like 16 gb ram And 500 w power
hey.. so you would prefer Shader Quality very high over Texture quality on normal? As shown with your settings? Is there a good difference between normal texture VS High or very high texture?
So a gtx 960 and i5 will be fine for 60 fps on some more recent games? btw im ok with putting some settings down like something like The Division or something demanding like that, willing to put it at 720p if i have to.
Hey I have the same card with i7 4720 and 16gb ram and I get 30-50 fps on ultra, while you managed to hit to 70. Do you think my pc cant handle it or my graphics is not performing to full power as the card was giving me problems initially when I bought it
Not really. Go with the 2 GB if you want to go cheaper and you could super clock it yourself which you don't need any experience for. The 4 GB will prboally only save you another 5 frames which is pointless because the 2GB RUNS at 60 FPS what more do you want?
I have the same GPU as you but I'm not getting the frames you have, here's my specs of you think there is anything causing it not to stay on 60 I have an Intel pentium CPU which has 3.20GHz is that the reason?

You have to turn on the setting that ignores you system specs. I play with very high textures on my 2GB gtx 770 which which is only about a half step faster than your card. My setting say they use around 2250 MB. This is like a worst case scenario, though. I run with fxaa and no msaa. I can run at 60 with 2x msaa, but my frames drop too much sometimes fit my liking (I like a consistent 60fps.) You can do a lot more with your card!
One major problem is the fact that you benchmark'd using the prologue. I also want to remind you that you can turn off VRAM warnings telling you that you're exceeding 2GB.

I will be doing an updated video with V-sync off and at max settings by removing the ram limit later today.
***** What do you mean ? So if you remove ram limiter you can play this on high texture quality ?
ZakX11 Correct, its not going to run as well as it does on normal texture quality but it will still run. New video about it in ~1 hour

It was surely worth the wait! Runs smooth as hell (minimum 70 fps) on my GTX 970 and pretty much all max settings. Rockstar did an awesome job.

Taylor Pinkham It's not slightly it's much less powerful, Yet runs great, Thanks for the information
He did have Vsync on which is why he is only getting 59 fps

There will be about 5-10 FPS increase since the vid here is 2gb version. But overall not that much change in performance.
+Frozen Vayne Thanks mate :)
To be fair, you don't need the 960 for this because I played with a 660 and got 57 fps on these same settings

I saw you were using an i5 3570k and 2gb version of the 960. I'm thinking about getting an i5 4690k and a 4gb 960, how many more frames do you think I would get?
