      Rafter had such a beautiful volley game which sadly has also been forgotten in modern tennis

    If Patrick Rafter had a bigger serve, he woulda won 6 or 7 slams. One of the greatest volleyers ever

      Rafter started the game with four aces 😅

      No, would've given him less time to get to net

      His serve was fine for his style. As a quite heavy guy who could volley like hell he needed the extra time his bouncy serve gave him. If he was a better returner of serve he could have got the Wimbledon finals he lost (against two very heavy servers: Sampras and Ivanisevic)

      His volleys were nowhere near as good as those of Laver, McEnroe, Edberg, Becker or Cash.

    Gracias gracias por este gran partido. Lo sufrí mucho porque quería que lo ganará Patrik. Pero al final se quedó sin físico.. pero amo mucho está época bonita del tenis ❤❤

    Great match. Contrast that you don't see nowdays. Rafter for me was the best volley in the game (even better then Edberg and Mcenroe).

    I hope they washed Pat's shorts before they were framed as sports memorabilia.

    Rafter sweat like crazy and certainly didn't drank enough water, and got cramp

  • @kidpagronprimsank05
    @kidpagronprimsank05 Год назад

    Also Rafter did great on Aus Open hard court as this was slowest of all slam minus RG (and some hard court like Indian Wells and Miami) at that time

    • @seanimac7759
      @seanimac7759 Год назад +1

      It was literally the fastest court at the time. That's why Pat couldn't win there. The only court that was a little faster was Flushing. The Aussie was never designed for serve and volley.

    • @kidpagronprimsank05
      @kidpagronprimsank05 Год назад +5

      @@seanimac7759 it's not fast, many pros at the time said it was on slow side (at least compared to US Open and most of hard courts at that time)

    • @seanimac7759
      @seanimac7759 Год назад

      @@kidpagronprimsank05 Every player at the time talked about two things: the heat and the speed of the court. It's obvious even in this video. Pat has volley winners that fly. It's why there are so many arguments for today's game because the surface is pretty much the same every where hard court. Every surface is the same except for the obvious Roland/Wimbledon. I stayed up here in the states to watch this match and all of the Aussie because of time difference. This court was extremely fast. This tournament became a thing because of just that. Separated itself from other surfaces. Appreciate the argument. Thank you for the convo. ✌️

    Cash couldn’t do it, Rafter couldn’t do it, Hewitt couldn’t do it, Kyrgios couldn’t do it. I think there will never be an Australian again to win the Australian Open

    Sweat doesn't soak through the sole of the shoe. Also, the comment that Pat is fitter than Andre, didn't age well in this match.
