I build playlists using CrateHackers and found that I couldn't import my M3U files into DJpro. Otherwise, I absolutely love this app so far! I'll test it out for throughout next week to decide if I'll use it with my upcoming wedding gigs in September.
I appreciate your honesty, because when I started using DJ Pro from the beginning, my DJ friends were clowning me. Now my friends are asking me for my opinion about DJ Pro.
VDJ does everything I need (stems, videos, karaoke, hardware compatibility, fast, light, CDJ export, lifetime license) I hate the membership model.. VDJ is the swizz army knife most djs sleep on. VDJ is the best & easiest way to export serato creates with cue points to USB stick for CDJs
@@DJOptimusFunk yep! Everyone sleeps on virtual.. but virtual will treat serato Crates & cue points & its able to export to USB.. it can even export stems to USB..
I like everything you said and trust I’m a DJ from the 70s-80s and I’m loving this DJ PROai it’s so user friendly and yes I cheat with sync, because track from the 70s will make you work but ai it just sounds good and that’s all that matters,BUT NEW DJ LEARN THE ART 1ST Of BEATMATCHING ITS A MUST
It’s been the only Dj software that I’ve loved when using, everything else was nowhere near the intuitive feel as this… it’s top quality now. They upgraded it to a higher level that’s now compatible and equal to professional standards 🙌 well done algoriddim 👏 A few more tweaks and nobody will be able to match your standard…
Thanks for your insight and the time spent making this video. I'm an old-school jock that went from vinyl to Serato years ago. I agree that being comfortable can cause people to miss out on new possibilities. I recently bought a new spec'd-out Mac strictly for music. I'm going to follow your lead and try something new. If I can import all my cue points and set loops, I just might totally switch over. Thanks again for your inspiration, Bro!
S e r a t o has an advantage in library management. If you are using local files. It writes your cue points and meta data directly into the MP3 itself, making it much more portable and reliable. That is something I think other brands are missing. I don't think they understand how valuable that is
I'm an "old man dj" as well. Learned to DJ on vinyl int he 90's and just got back into it. Was using rekordbox because "standard" and I decided to give DJ Pro a try. I feel the exact same as you. It's next level!
I can mix by ear when I have to, and I’m sure I’ll get some hate for this, but seratos tempo match display feature is so clutch when mixing older records where tempos jump and aren’t actually what they say they are. I know you can manually change the beat grid, and sometimes I will for effects etc. but I don’t think there’s a need for sync when you have that feature. Especially when quick mixing, you can adjust the tempo slider so quickly.
I own the DDJ1000 and Rev5. The effects and screens could not be seeing on the 1000. With the Rev5 it may work better. Mainly Rekordbox and Serato user but have always owned Djay in the iPad. Started with this software adn the little vestax Apple used to sell. Big improvements since then!
I have a Hercules T7, and LOVE using it with DJAY PRO on my 13 inch iPad Pro. I also love being able to come up with blends/mashups on the go by using DJAY PRO on my iPhone. I'm currently paying $29.99 a year, easily worth the cost.
its just my opinion with testing the 5.2 update why i don't use Djay everday, as scratch dj I think there are some kind of lag with DVS use, I have change the latency to lowest and try two devices s9 - s11 and phase dj somehow I think Serato has more respond and more accuracy then djay (scratching and dropping in the one) + mixing wise I think there is some artificial even when the sync & quntize off , second thing some feature are hiding like beat jump they call it skip etc, the subscription :( however thank you for the great video and agree this software has progress so fast and hope more to come.....
I have switched. All your arguments are exactly the reason. But my main reason is that I can use an iPad. But there are 2 things that bother me: 1. the track transfer to the iPad is extremely cumbersome. 2. i can't use the club standard equipment, CDJ and S9 with the iPad.
Absolutely. The iTunes solution is fine, But just incomprehensible. But I would be much happier if an HID mode were to be added so that I could play with CDJs and Pioneer mixers. It is currently also possible if you supply the players as a DVS system and timecode signal, but this is also cumbersome. Even with Mac!
I switched in 2020 Juicy M has a video of DJing on 4 iPads, so I went out and bought 2 12" iPad Pros with 512GB, then more recently I dropped the mixer and went to the M1 iPad with 2TB, and I do entire open format Weddings with just the iPad and a mixer only being used as a sound card. I do everything on screen.
Man, been using Djay Pro for a bit now using an Ipad. I also use a 8 fader controller for my stems. Using The touchscreen FX on the IPAd are insane. Great software!!!
Djay pro is next level for any dj outside of festival/club dj, I love the idea of walking around the party and taking requests live while holding iPad in hand. Using Bluetooth has its latency but if you know how to read the beat grids it’s not too hard
I think it's awesome but it's let down by the screens not working on their controller mappings such as the Pioneer / Rane etc. I wanted software to make djing fun again and it does that - zero prep required like vinyl! Who can be arsed beat gridding? Stems sound great. Interface is great. Love it. If they can make the IOS version work with the CDJ 3000 and V10 / A9 it would be awesome.
Agree totally. I am a beginner but am a semi pro drummer . I was in a crew we had a star dj in my youth . One thing I dont get is the macbook pro magic pad I use to fade from deck to deck. it always snaps to the middle of the cross fader . How can fix that ? I will eventually but a hardware mixer but not sure witch one to get . Thanks great content
I'm hearing you out. I'd love a video about the conversion process. How quickly can I move my library, cues, saved loops, from serato? Does it integrate from apple music playlists?
My first DJ software was Traktor (2010/11) configuring it was to fiddly but I continued to use is while simultaneouly trialling VDJ. I preferred VDJ but it was still a bit fiddly with configuration. Then I tried Serato Lite - simple and suited my style, I went Serato pro and have not looked back. I come from vinyl and that is still my style albeit digital. Any software has way more than I will ever use but Serato is my first and then Djay pro. Djay Pro 'cos for me it is fun to use.
Great video man! I was totally thinking about it the same way. I've been using Djay for years with my reloop mixon. I am a bedroom dj playing for small crowds but I wondered if this material is not accepted playing on a bigger venue. you just confirmed that I made the good decision and I should definitely use when playing somewhere else. Only thing is the reliance to streaming abilities. I use Soundcloud, without a network I don't have music.. + is it legal to use my iCloud stream on public events?
Great video, i was thinking of giving it a test after hearing more and more good things, just downloaded the trial version. Ive been on Traktor and serato for since about 2006. Looks great so far, a few key things missings. 1. Filtering by genre with smart lists, alot of DJ's use the genre field for multiple genres, eg 80s / 90s. You cant do this in the same way you can with other smart list options in DJ Pro. 2. One thing i cant find is beat jump in dual deck display view, its there in the single view. Its only gonna get better, looks like it has alot of the features that i like in Traktor that arent in serato.
The chaining of effects is pretty awesome, playing around with changing the order. Concerning beatgridding, first beat off a lot of times. Running a loop will shift pretty quick, even if you quantize/sync. I tried it a couple of gigs, but controller during the set started behaving not as expected. I used to use the old DJay Pro when Spotify still worked, for birthday parties. Still interested, cause Rekordbox just cancelled my DDJ-RR
Hey Dj DU, Dj Moscato right here. I'm new to your channel. I have been interested in Djay Pro for a while ,but serato dj Pro is free for me . Yes , I am very comfortable using serato. So much what you say makes so much sense. I am definitely going to try out Djay Pro.
So. I am brand new to DJing. Just got a controller 2 days ago but I have used DJay pro from a laptop and my phone for a while to Dj small events. Well last night I tried to use it with my Dj flx4 and if I can get it to work with all the functions of the controller I think I would like it. I do feel like I want to learn how to Dj correctly and proficiently before using it as it does do a lot for you.
I only use DJ Pro its so good, i cant think of. a featutre it doesn't have. i recently needed to speak to the shop i bought my controller from about a problem i ahd with it. when i told them i was using DJ Pro they seemed to think it was the problem and msde out it was shit. it wasnn't the problem and it's running as perfectly as it always has.
I used it for the first time last night at a bar. It was a hippie theme and I rocked it for 4 hours. I used a combination of my music plus Beat Source all out of one crate I made. All my transitions were seamless using that neural crossfader and the effects (like the rocket effect) were awesome with the low pass filter. It's way more innovative than Serato!
I use Rekordbox. But when it comes to using DVS, I like using Djay Pro on my iPhone keeping things minimal instead of having a laptop and stand on the DJ bench.
D.J. AY is the greatest, however, sometimes it crashes on the most craziest times when you’re DJing. I have the M4 2 TB, of course, with the extra core and even though I’m not text savvy like that, I thought it would fix the problem, but it doesn’t! Yes, it works and when it does, it shines, but there are times when it will crash on its own and in an opportune moments. I’ve done parties and it has crashed on me. I think it’s because of the updates and all this clouting bullshit but who am I to say like I said I’m not that savvy. If you do use this in a while, please make sure to have a back up and when you rate your new video, please do a full and thorough as well as unbiased review. Great video can’t wait for the next one…
I have used all of them. Started on VDJ and it was my favorite for a like 15 years till bought an XDJ XZ last November. This is how I would rate them. 1. Rekordbox - It’s like a mix of all of them wrapped in one. 2. VDJ - Just brilliant, smart, sensible. It just makes sense. 3. Djay the most fun, by far. I am overwhelmed by how many possibilities there are with the effects section. But has many quirks. Like the layout is limited. I need a lot more things on the screen than what it shows. 4. Serato - Just crap, I’m sorry. It just doesn’t make sense. Don’t get me started with crates and the library section, settings, Something as simple as you set something, and when you close it up and open it again, you have to set it again. That program just doesn’t make sense in so many ways
I just started using it it is really good plus not only I can use on my pioneer sx2 and now on my denon prime go. The only thing I don’t like you have to pay a monthly subscription serato pro came with my pioneer controller. Djay pro should just do a one time purchase.
I'm going to give djay Pro a shot again, but I noticed to use the pro you need to have a subscription. I'm tired of subscriptions, and I would rather just pay one flat fee to use it.
That’s definitely one of my issues-they used to have a perpetual license a few versions back and then they ditched it. Kind of annoying. I’ve had a perpetual license with serato for ages and I only pay for hardware upgrades.
(I've been putting on since I was 14) First cd (quite a bit of vinyl) Then at the beginning of 2000 BPM Studio Then Virtual DJ Ca 2007 Mixmeister Fushion 2009-2023 Tractor and Parallel Rekordbo Only because of the Rane 4 and Steams changed to Serato And for a few weeks now at Djay Pro 👍 (On the performer, this is still stuck here and there) Make a short short video which settings the Serato user has to make in order to feel comfortable. I went crazy as long as "beat sync interval" stood at 4 beats
I’ve been using it since it was first made available on Mac. What made me switch was the ability to manipulate Spotify tracks. I’m a request approved DJ for private parties so I want to be able to play the customers’ favorite tracks. I never went back to Serrato
I really enjoy DJ Pro on iOS! More so than on Mac OS. I’m a long time Serato user and I really like Serato’s stability and library management. Once I used DJ Pro on Mac at a video gig and it crashed so I haven’t used DJ Pro on Mac since. DJ pro on iOS in my opinion is way more stable when loading streaming tracks than Serato on Mac and has not let me down at the few gigs I’ve done w/ it. The crash at a video gig and the library views and management are the main reason I’ve been staying w/ Serato but I do want to move to iPad w/ DJ Pro the only thing stopping me is I need an iPad w/ more memory…
I think djay pro just became relevant again After the Big 5.0 update some months ago and they improved with every update since then. First they fixed the poor stems quality and introduced fluid beatgrids and crossfader fx with 5.0. With the latest big update they finally introduced more relevant hardware compability. I think this was keeping lots of DJs away from it. But now everyone with a flx10 or a performer can use it.
I started on dJay. I had a crappy controller and I mixed gigs at the L.A. County Fair on dJay, and I loved it. I have 30k MP3s and it made my life really easy. The dJay remote allowed me to move around the club and check sound while still keeping the mix going. It was everything to me as a DJ. Until they started trying to charge me a monthly fee. I got a Serato license as a gift and never looked back. I love Serato, even though I know how to do about a third of what it's capable of accomplishing. I buy software. I don't rent it. I dumped Adobe for the same reason (and I *loved* Photoshop like it was a family member). As someone who bought every version of dJay prior to that, the monthly charge (and then borking backwards compatibility, as even playing MP3s from my phone or iPad started not working so well) felt like a betrayal to me, as I'd had championed it and endured the slings and arrows of Serato DJs looking at me funny. If they come up with a single time price, I'd debate coming back, but I'll *never* pay monthly for software.
Just to give you a heads up Serato is also going to a subscription model. After the block of sale from Pioneer they are repositioning their business model in the near future.
The fact that I actually, I am using this. I DJ professionally but only on occasion and this is great. It also has more hardware support. Serato obsoletes a lot of controllers and just will not support them tell me about my day but this will support almost anything. I have a TTM 57 mkii let me know when it is it is a beautiful mixer turn on my bed serato doesn't support it anymore
I'm struggling to find hardware that works for me with Djay pro. Currently stuck on traktor s4 with Traktor 3. Own an S3 but hate it with both traktor and more so with Djay pro
I've been using Djay Pro exclusively for about 5 years now.... I was Numark Cue, Then VDJ, tried serato and didn't get on well with it... Djay pro is bullet proof...
I’m open to use any software. I’ve been trying dj algorithm, but I noticed the Eco out is not as good as Cerrado after the improvement and the library. I find a little complicated on DJ algorithm.
I use both … I don’t use DJay to its full capacity because like you I don’t know enough about it. The only drawback is that you can’t buy the license for it outright like serato. I’m not down to pay 70$ annually for it and over ten years it’s cost is more than that if Serato’s full license
I been switched! I just used it last night and that track recommendation saved the night!!! The streaming saved my butt!! This kills Serato!!! Serato has nothing to really offer me🤷🏾♂️😁
Fantastic program. I also use it on my ipad pro. Also great. But Apple music integration is facing serious issues. Nice to have fun. But unreliable to use in a party
I just did a video myself a few weeks ago talking about different options for DVS software, and djay pro is making HUGE waves. I didn't mention it in my piece, but the only thing keeping me on Serato right now is my hardware ecosystem. When I eventually make the switch to the Performer, I'm planning to start messing with djay pro full time
I think a major reason is the subscription fee. I get that they have to make money and Serato technically has one as well but as someone who’s already paid 2k on a mixer and 2k on a controller and a few hundred on pools a month and X amount on lighting software ect any more monthly fees is a turn off. Do they have a buy out right yet?
I tried it not too long ago and I didn't like it because it wasn't 100% compatible with my ddj1000srt it was too much remapping and yeah maybe I'm just too comfortable with Serato but I found that Serato gives me everything I need no remapping needed and I don't have to pay for a subscription
@DJDUMusic no I'm good, I'm one of them stubborn Serato uses for life . The only other software that I'm interested in trying to learn is engine and that's because it's standalone, I like the idea of ditching the computer all together
You know I haven't had a chance really to mess with it yet but I hear good things about it. I think I don't use it for some the same reasons I haven't started using Djay yet! I think I got brainwashed by other DJs because everyone just uses Cerado every club I play around the country.
I'm like you, tired of Serato just sitting on their asses and not innovating enough, I've been on Serato since '05 with the SL1, Rane ttm57, Numark NS7, Rane 70 with twelves and a Rane one, but now I'm trying VDJ and I'm going to try DJ pro, Serato better wake up and get up to date

I build playlists using CrateHackers and found that I couldn't import my M3U files into DJpro. Otherwise, I absolutely love this app so far! I'll test it out for throughout next week to decide if I'll use it with my upcoming wedding gigs in September.
we know you switched ;)
@@ItsWesSmithYo LOL! I did! I actually used DJ Pro at a wedding this past Saturday. It worked out perfectly! I'll be using it again this weekend.
@@diskjokk hahahha peer pressure;). stay curious friend
I appreciate your honesty, because when I started using DJ Pro from the beginning, my DJ friends were clowning me. Now my friends are asking me for my opinion about DJ Pro.
Stay Strong!!
I had no idea VDJ had those export features. And it can export Serato crates too? Gonna have to give it a look!
@@DJOptimusFunk yep! Everyone sleeps on virtual.. but virtual will treat serato Crates & cue points & its able to export to USB.. it can even export stems to USB..
@@DjPositivePyup
Bro, you made my day with your honesty in helping me make my decision to use Djay Pro thank you for sharing
Glad I could help!!
I like everything you said and trust I’m a DJ from the 70s-80s and I’m loving this DJ PROai it’s so user friendly and yes I cheat with sync, because track from the 70s will make you work but ai it just sounds good and that’s all that matters,BUT NEW DJ LEARN THE ART 1ST Of BEATMATCHING ITS A MUST
1 month ago I started using it. It is dead on! Like you said with the beat grid! Transitions are amazing.
Just dropped my serato subscription...
As a sample based beatmaker I like djay pro better because of the dynamic beat grids .
I started using two years ago. also use iPad sometimes phone.
I have a Hercules T7, and LOVE using it with DJAY PRO on my 13 inch iPad Pro. I also love being able to come up with blends/mashups on the go by using DJAY PRO on my iPhone. I'm currently paying $29.99 a year, easily worth the cost.
I love DJPro!
its just my opinion with testing the 5.2 update why i don't use Djay everday, as scratch dj I think there are some kind of lag with DVS use, I have change the latency to lowest and try two devices s9 - s11 and phase dj somehow I think Serato has more respond and more accuracy then djay (scratching and dropping in the one) + mixing wise I think there is some artificial even when the sync & quntize off , second thing some feature are hiding like beat jump they call it skip etc, the subscription :( however thank you for the great video and agree this software has progress so fast and hope more to come.....
Djay pro has bathroom setting (continuous play) where it will play the next song for you!
I know...Pooping safe!! LOL
I have switched. All your arguments are exactly the reason. But my main reason is that I can use an iPad. But there are 2 things that bother me:
1. the track transfer to the iPad is extremely cumbersome.
2. i can't use the club standard equipment, CDJ and S9 with the iPad.
Yea it’s because iOS isn’t compatible
I agree.. Hoping they can make a few minor adjustments to the library and track import method.
Absolutely. The iTunes solution is fine,
But just incomprehensible.
But I would be much happier if an HID mode were to be added so that I could play with CDJs and Pioneer mixers. It is currently also possible if you supply the players as a DVS system and timecode signal, but this is also cumbersome. Even with Mac!
@@realdjpyro if you could use iOS with CDJ it would be over for Serato
There is a Serato crate conversation built in. Easy!
Dynamic beat gridding is definitely next level. Virtual DJ has been on that level for a long time now.
Facts Serato has less to offer.
Yes is the best
Tonight I'll use it at my first gig!
BOI VDJ STILL IS THE BEST OUT OF ALL L😅L
Djay pro should just do a one time purchase.
so tempting
I'm going to give djay Pro a shot again, but I noticed to use the pro you need to have a subscription. I'm tired of subscriptions, and I would rather just pay one flat fee to use it.
That’s definitely one of my issues-they used to have a perpetual license a few versions back and then they ditched it. Kind of annoying.
I’ve had a perpetual license with serato for ages and I only pay for hardware upgrades.
(I've been putting on since I was 14)
First cd (quite a bit of vinyl)
Then at the beginning of 2000 BPM Studio
Then Virtual DJ
Ca 2007 Mixmeister Fushion
2009-2023 Tractor and Parallel Rekordbo
Only because of the Rane 4 and Steams changed to Serato
And for a few weeks now at Djay Pro 👍
(On the performer, this is still stuck here and there)
Make a short short video which settings the Serato user has to make in order to feel comfortable.
I’m sure it has worked those bugs out by now. Why don’t you do sets at home before you go to a gig. Just like you do with Serato
Nope. Virtual DJ does all that and more. By far the best DJ software available.
FACTS!!!!!
Haven't tried it yet!
Bottom left button.. expands the library full✌️
Once they update the sampler so I can change the gain on each individual sample slot the it will truly be perfect!
I've been wit DJay since 2016...I knew it was the future back then.
I'm late to the game:(
I think djay pro just became relevant again After the Big 5.0 update some months ago and they improved with every update since then. First they fixed the poor stems quality and introduced fluid beatgrids and crossfader fx with 5.0. With the latest big update they finally introduced more relevant hardware compability. I think this was keeping lots of DJs away from it. But now everyone with a flx10 or a performer can use it.
Yup.
@@DJDUMusic *spit take* My cabbages!
Can I just not upgrade?
How do you pay a phone bill? Lol
Can you link me a source where I can learn about all the features on DJay pro? Like an instruction manual or something?

Serato and Rekordbox are losing out to Djay. Def the future!
Djay pro is bullet proof...
only trouble im having is mapping buttons for stems, have a numark mixtrack platnium FX...when i get that sorted its gona be so good!
You shouldn't have too
No other software can oepn and close that fast. I hate seeing the app jumping on the task bar.
Cool man! Yeah, locking disco era beat grids are tough!!! I’m gonna look into it
I’m open to use any software. I’ve been trying dj algorithm, but I noticed the Eco out is not as good as Cerrado after the improvement and the library. I find a little complicated on DJ algorithm.
Bro it’s easy lol
I use both … I don’t use DJay to its full capacity because like you I don’t know enough about it. The only drawback is that you can’t buy the license for it outright like serato. I’m not down to pay 70$ annually for it and over ten years it’s cost is more than that if Serato’s full license
Djay was insane when there was Spotify connectivity…when that went Rekordbox blows it away for effects etc
At this point, the only reason I haven’t switched over yet is for the wave forms with the rev 7 and S 11
I know...I have a Rev 7 and I'm not sure why you can get the info on Rane gear but not Pioneer
I have a question- does it do VIDEO?
Yes
Hell yes
Heck yes!!
Most of us don't switch, because if it's not broken... Why fix it?
compare VirtualDJ- Searto-DJAY show a comparison where scratch sounds better like real vinyl
elastic grid is the best , it tooks to me 1 day to switch from Traktor to Djay Pro
Does it work with RUclips music streaming service?
That would be perfect!! RUclips would gain so much money from DJs!!
I been switched! I just used it last night and that track recommendation saved the night!!! The streaming saved my butt!! This kills Serato!!! Serato has nothing to really offer me🤷🏾♂️😁
Serato is more stable, but DJay is not stable on my macbook pro with my rane four, screen is slow but in time might use it
I'm running an M3 MacBook Pro and has zero lag so far. My Rane 4 looks great also.
Fantastic program. I also use it on my ipad pro. Also great. But Apple music integration is facing serious issues. Nice to have fun. But unreliable to use in a party
That's been fixed in the latest update 5.2.3
“Instant doubles” I was looking for that feature, did I miss it?
Yes it's there. I'll do a video
Great video
It is amazing software but allways have problem with maping controler
What is the cost compared to the competition?
Subscription only and around $49.99 a year.
You can pay in full, monthly and certain controllers come with it
I just did a video myself a few weeks ago talking about different options for DVS software, and djay pro is making HUGE waves.
I have a little mix tour pro so the software comes free for life.
@@DJDUMusic is it only free when using that unit or can you buy one of those then use the software with a different controller?
The subscription model is the problem for more people using the software! Most people prefer to own their programs...
It’s great for the company!! This way you are paying for quick quality upgrades!!
It s true. Bye bye serato.
An iPad with controller beats a lot of standalones simply because of streaming access. I think it’s time for me to leave serato as a backup.
how does it do when exporting to usb for use with CDJs?
You can't as I mentioned in the video. The only time I use Rekord Box is for that.
Djay pro is by far the best software out hands down nothing comes close and it’s only £44 a year
I tried it not too long ago and I didn't like it because it wasn't 100% compatible with my ddj1000srt it was too much remapping and yeah maybe I'm just too comfortable with Serato but I found that Serato gives me everything I need no remapping needed and I don't have to pay for a subscription
Give it another try
@DJDUMusic no I'm good, I'm one of them stubborn Serato uses for life . The only other software that I'm interested in trying to learn is engine and that's because it's standalone, I like the idea of ditching the computer all together
Why YOU are not using THE BEST dj software of ALL TIMES? VDJ!
