I have a 7 year old and this is definitely something im considering against a phone. Marks off safety for her and gps i rly like it while a bit pricey it seems like a good durable watch
Wow, this is actually a really nice smartwatch for kids. I used to think the Apple Watch SE + LTE at $299 was a good offering, but this is actually better. Definitely wasn't expecting this.
I was actually looking at getting a refurbished AW se cellular for my kid when I stumbled over this and I do prefer android any day of the week and especially google 😊 I'm just curious when this will release in Sweden?
If google cancels this service will the devices be bricked? The always-on LTE worries me since engineers can get lazy with app dependencies increasing the likelihood that this product, even in the hands of consumers, will only survive as long as the team in charge of it avoids layoffs and "strategic refocusing".
@@passive101 Me using my Google Home this morning: "Ok Google, play the latest news". Google: "Lol, wut? Should I search for that on Spotify or just give up now?"
It's been LESS than two weeks and Google just anounced it is shutting down the FitBit website and limiting users to the app (which lacks many of the admin and data features in the website)
ONE HUGE MISS! Just got this for our son and we cannot add his siblings, who are older teenagers, because they aren't adults. So those up to 20 contacts they advertise aren't even that useful. Google/Fitbit needs to fix this missing "feature" ASAP!!!!
I've been a long time Fitbit user and switched over to Wear OS with the Fossil Watch gen 5. Since then I have switched to the Google Pixel Watch. I've always wanted a full fledged smartwatch with Fitbit support and was never a big fan of the Fitbit OS. When Google and Alphabet announced that they were buying Fitbit, I was hopefull that Wear OS might come to Fitbit smartwatches because at the time Google had Wear OS but didn't have their own Wear OS smartwatch until the first Pixel Watch. Eventually, Google released the long awaited and anticipated Pixel Watch and it had Fitbit support. At this point, I kind of stopped thinking that Wear OS would come to Fitbit smartwatches and started wondering if Fitbit would eventually become a Wear OS feature that other new Wear OS smartwatches could take advantage of. Flash forward to today and no other Wear OS smartwatch has Fitbit beside the Pixel Watch and the Pixel Watch 2. Finally, Wear OS has come to a new Fitbit smartwatch (I kind of thought that Fitbit would come to more Wear OS smartwatches before I would ever see Wear OS on a Fitbit smartwatch 😅). Even though this version of Wear OS on the Fitbit Ace LTE is very simplified as it is meant for kids, it is a promising start to Wear OS on a Fitbit smartwatch and if we ever see Wear OS on a Fitbit smartwatch geared towards adults, then it could be closer to the full fledged version of Wear OS.
My bet is that the next version of fitbit versa and sense will be powered by a simplified version of WearOS focused on a six day battery. This means most of the heavy lifting we be happening in your phone (kinda like the current version is FitBitOS).
Hardware wise it's definitely worth it, have you seen the Como watch or Gizmo watch? They're complete junk, they're slow, and probably will not last most kids more than. A year. Plus they all have a bunch of hidden activation fees and monthly plays between $15-20. We got a Cosmo watch but the plan and activation fee with service for a year made it $300. The Fitbit Ace would be $280 for the year with the subscription deal. So it's not wildly expensive in the category and you're getting better hardware for that price.
@@27thbadger NickWatch is going to launch soonin the US at less than half this price. Already launched in the UK. Nickelodeon-themed kids watch. This price is absurd.
Love that the Ace is on Wear OS, with LTE, and has a kids-focused approach - but if this is why there's no access to 3p apps, it feels super disingenuous. A "get a Pixel watch then" strategy. Google offers Family Link for managing screen time, apps, and contacts - so why not just allow 3p apps through that approach? I use Messenger Kids with my kids, and the Ace would really up-end that; which of course would suit google just fine.
Aesthetically it's a beautiful playful watch honestly a future pixel watch with this shape but a little larger would be neat. I wouldn't be surprised this is intentional design that will carry forward.
Also Google/Fitbit, why are you not bringing these games to the pixel watch 2. When they have the exact same hardware, it'd be a great way to incentivize just another reason for people to pick up your watch
It's huge for kids device. I guess not having lugs can help. Galaxy watch LTE is a lighter option for kids. Find my android can use more improvement too.
Heads up... these are banned in many schools. Sooo for your kids.. keep in mind a phone tucked in their backpack might be a more useful spend for tracking and emergency.
Fitbit os needs to disappear, its dysfunctional and we have wear os. So it's time for google axe fitbit os. Makes no sense to have both and i bet it would happen
I am buying one for myself, I am 75 years old.
Sir, you're as old as my country. Damn
Wow... Really nice! @@AliSher-ky9tk

Intriguing. Its the price that I'm not crazy about

I'd totally buy one of these if there was an adult version
The Pixel Watch 2
The price is insane for what you get especially with being kids smartwatch!
Kids with rich parents

I didn't catch the price - How much?
I'm jealous that a kids smart watch is more powerful than my Pixel Watch 1.
My mil got my son and nephew one. My sone had a different watch for kids and the calling reception was horrible. This one is phenomenal. Great device.
I don't have kids, but I'm glad this product category has been revived!
My hope is this OS will be a dual-boot option for "regular" WearOS devices as a low power mode!
How come there is no official info on this anywhere? How about mention the price and availability?
I was wondering that too. Edit: I found the price like an hour ago. And 230$ is an interesting number
It's in the Google Store under smartwatches
It’s all on the Fitbit website. The price is $230
@@matthewb840 2:30 is an interesting number
And it's on Amazon
Does it have basic things like alarms? What service does the watch use LTE? Is there a voice to o text feature for text messages from the watch?
On another review I saw it does have voice to text message.

This is very interesting. I think somehow Google Fit is gonna shut down or merge with FitBit.
Hmmmmm perhaps a Pixel Watch 3 "Ultra" might be the equivalent of a ruggedised "Pixel Sense" with an additional rotating crown??
Will this work with an iPhone?
Yes
What's the battery life expected to be? Competing with the Garmin Venu.
16 hrs battery life according to Google
Why does it have a heart rate sensor? I dont see many children needing that feature
Because it's not really a child's watch, it's meant to hook in sucker adults like me
I've been looking for a watch for my 8 yr old with a heart rate sensor and been having a hard time until I saw this. The need is there.
The cinematography is 100,% better than usual
The OS looks like the current FitbitOS on Sense2 and Versa4 with some additional restrictions.
😳😯 Cool!

Kids wear Apple Watches in my school😭Not banned at all
Phones are certainly banned in any school where a smart watch is banned

I have both and use the fitbit more because I don't have to charge it daily.
But regardless it ain't long for this world as you said

This watch seems too good to be made by Google. I mean, Google making really good product? Something's missing right? 😅😂
Looks awful.
It's designed for kids
The only thing that matters is if it has geofencing.. I mean for the price you don't even get a camera
I'm looking forward to a possibility of a non restricted adult version with wear OS
the square is better than the circle, I want the square but as a full pixel watch 2
Its Not only for Kids.
