Caleb, how did you learn Bisaya? I really would like to learn but I can't seem to find a good program. My wife is Bisaya - lives in Sarangani.
Hi Byron, thanks for the comment! I learned the language by living here in the Philippines and immersing myself in the language and culture. It took a long time before I could understand what people were saying and even longer until I could carry a conversation. I didn’t use any programs, but I’m sure there are some great ones available. Exposing myself to people speaking the language, writing down and studying all of the words I didn’t understand in a notebook, reading articles or books in Cebuano, and speaking any words I knew as often as I could instead of speaking English helped me learn the language. I’m sure your wife would love to help you learn more Bisaya, maybe try setting aside a little time each day to only try speaking in Bisaya with each other and use as little English as possible! :) Learning will take a lot of time and practice, but it will be worth it.
