This was great, every other tutorial has been so long and confusing - this is the perfect summary/ beginner style introduction to Indesign.
But if you really want to learn you have to spend more than 9 minutes learning so yeah long but worth it

image - click, circle, double click (adjust frame, adjust content)
W - preview document without guides
drag and drop image into document - we will have to choose frame size upon dropping

Lots to learn here, but you need to move your cursor more slowly so we can easily see what you are clicking on in the menu bar.

Very helpful introduction. Had to watch it twice and pause when he clicked, since he went very fast over some features.
I started using InDesign when it was in Beta. It’s a juggernaut. Combined with Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat, it’s nearly unbeatable.
I do, however use the Afinity suite of software at home, because it’s way cheaper, and almost note-for-note in comparison to Adobe.

Now we are designing a logo for our product and a magazine to showcase its functionality. This will be my first time using inDesign and i hope i can deliver a good end product to my company.

So much of this went over my head lol. There are a lot of terms I don't know and I guess it's assumed in this video that you know the terms in order to actually learn from this.

You mention the tools "stroke and fill" but don't say what those are.
You also mention layers and layer tab, but I have no idea what that is. I have a few assumptions, but I'm not 100%.
You mention guides and gutters but I have no idea what that is.
Just a few examples. I think knowing these terms and concepts would make the video more useful for a very green beginner like me.

Cool tutorial! Thanks! Question: In 8:25, you drag several elements to create some space in the center do the page. What would be the best way to "officially" define that space so it's the same across different pages/elements? Perhaps by creating another guide?
Yup, you can create the same spacing on a masterpage. Or the quick and dirty way of doing it is just make a line or shape that's the same width and "copy in place" for the next page.

Not sure if anyone else heard that picas is an InDesign measurement. A pica is a 6th of an inch and has 12 points, this measurement system has been used in printing for a very long time, 72 points per inch. Points sizing is how typefaces or fonts are categorised, if you notice when you are picking a typeface it isn’t measured in anything but points, regardless if you are working in inches or metric etc.
