I really appreciate how open Jay is with his hobby. Most people would be a lot more private about stuff like this. Showing how he still has magazines and brochures from the 70s is pretty cool.
Dear Mr. Leno, I am the Engineer who was tasked by Count Agusta at the end of 1975 to make this into the most powerful and fastest street motorcycle of its time. I spent 4 years in LA completely redesigning this bike, and developing a two-stage turbo, fuel injection, perimeter frame, composite brake rotors, hydropneumatic suspension, etc. Sadly, Count Agusta sold the factory in early 1981. I can send you photos and info if you wish!
Yes I feel very sad that that company as well as some others are not owned by Italians anymore… the designers etc are not Italians anymore. Especially car companies.
You just have to respect Jay Leno's passion ... We have a saying amongst us Welsh bikers " He who dies with the most toys ...WINS" Think Mr Leno has already won.
Thanks Jay, I was always too poor to own any MV but I had the privilege of owning another great Italian bike, a 1976 Laverda 750SF the poor mans version of the track 750SFC. It was love at first listen of that big twin, true Italian music. It was quite advanced for its day. It was designed for 24 hour continuous racing, the front and rear wheels were completely interchangable, so you really only needed to take one spare wheel to the track. Every bearing on the bike was Teflon, no grease necessary ever! I bought it in Belgium and actually had two Belgium police invite me to race along side their big monster Harleys. I also remember that it had a 6 or 8 quart oil sump and a 25 liter gas tank with 5 liters held in reserve. Electric start, no kick start anywhere, if your battery went dead you needed to find a hill to run down and jump on. It boosted an 11:1 compression ratio, so it would just cough and not start on regular gas. Found out many years later that most of the electronics were made by Bosch and many parts from a 1976 Volkswagen would be direct replacements for my bike. I remember it weighed around 385lbs with a full tank of gas, it was no speed demon off the line but after 2nd gear there was damn few cars or motorcycles I couldn't just walk away from. Jay, I wounder if you might have any Laverdas in your collection, and if you do could you do a spot on one of them? Thanks In Advanced for bring back great memories.
Krevin Grard It really does! I've never heard a bike sound like that. I used to think the Norton Commando was the best sounding bike, but now I am not so sure.
How can 40 people have given this a thumbs down? Were they coming here expecting a cookery video? I could listen to Mr. Leno chatting all day with great knowledge about all these wonderful vehicles. Would love to spend a day chatting to him about old vehicles. He is so totally grounded despite his day job!
I had an mv agusta brutale 910r 08. But thats not why im commenting...im commenting to why jay lenos garage is as popular and awesome as it is now. I think i saw this episode a few years ago, and ive seen dozens of jay garage episodes since. Jay Leno is an person who reminds us of what american talk show hosts use to be not long ago, and his continued popularity now gives me hope that all is not lost with the mainstream current state of affairs
What I remember from the MV is the SOUND! It s special for sure! I watched the World Ch.ship race in Anderstorp in Sweden in -74 and the sound of the MV was something you do not forget. Sadly the MV had a pricetag we just could not deal with in those days.
I still have my old Cycle world, Road and Track, etc mags from 1980 on... some women in my life wanted me to get rid of them (my mom, my first wife, etc) but I still keep those mags and read them once in a while... its blast to see how much things have changed over the past three decades and half! when you are a motor lover you like this things that nobody else understands. Thanks Jay for another good video!
JAY LENO CONGRATULATION FROM ITALY. THE MV AGUSTA 750 AMERICA IT'S REALLY A PIECE OF ART. GREAT BIKE AND ALSO A GREAT VIDEO. MV DESERVES THE TITLE OF THE FERRARI OF THE MOTORCYCLES.
Jay every time I watch this channel you make me want to go and hop on my bike and just ride or jump in my car and drive. I love everything with an engine and you really further my passion showing me all these cool bikes and cars that I would have never known about without you. Thanks for being a fellow petrolhead!
MV Agusta had left racing in 1974 so I really doubt he was worried about privateers. The drive shaft was installed for better reliability and torque control. The F3 is one of the best modern day sport bikes today built. It's about the artistic look, finish and the passion for motorcycles.
you are a great man for allowing the world access to your collections so we can all enjoy a little piece 9f our dreams as well, hope you are getting well after your accident, thanks
Hey Jay, I really envy you and your MV. It sounds so beautiful winding out down the freeway. I love gear driven bikes. They have such a precision feel and sound. This bike came with an option many bikes no longer offer, a soul! I'm so glad you are in a position to not only own a bike like this but to actually enjoy it! Safe Riding Brother!
Chris Cunningham I got my first shaft driven bike in around 1990. I never looked back. so smooth, with no rattling chain etc. Everything is just so click click through the gears and and so smooth.
One of the greatest things is Jay doesn't have all these 'chines to sit and look at, he thrashes all of them, he's probably the coolest gear head EVER!!!
This video brought back memories of me riding my Triumph T110 over to Gus Khun's shop, in London, to drool over this very bike. Always wanted to get one but never managed it though. Thanks for the memories Jay.
At 5:00 the MV symphony is pure bliss. I almost bought one year's ago. Coulda, woulda, shoulda! I do however, have a large poster in my office of this model. I like it more than the modern MVs of today.
What's striking is how many years Leno has owned some of these cars and motorcycles. This collection isn't just a pack of machines he threw together when he got rich and famous. Well done.
There was one of these, except even older over at Isle of Vashon in Washington this year. It had a full fairing setup on it, though. Which I think makes this bike so much more beautiful.
This has to be one of the sweetest sounding bikes I've ever heard. All you hear is the low hum of the beautiful exhaust. Something like the formula 1 cars of the 50's-60's. Visceral when it's revving past you. Awesome
Great bike! I wanted one from the time I first saw it in a magazine, but could not find one to buy. I ended up with a 1978 BMW R100S, then when on a riding vacation in Oregon, I found a 750 S America at a dealership in Portland. At that point I did not have enough money to buy it too, so now it's just a great memory.
That was one of the more passionate episodes I have seen. Seems to really love that bike. I would like to see more of the stuff he's had for a long time.
two mistakes: It's not 37 Gran Prix won, they are World Championships. There's no Count Agostini. It's Giacomo Agostini (15 times World Champion, best motorbike pilot ever.) and there's Count Agusta, founder and owner
As Jay and his wife have been together, I don't think she buys that bit for a second! With my wife, it's the difference between "Toys & Tools." She say's "why do you need another toy?" The obvious response being, "Oh no, this is a TOOL" whether it's a new torque wrench, a DeWalt impact driver or whatever. Jay's "Tools" just have a few more zeros on the sales slip!! ;^)
My 66 bridgestone 90 sport is gonna b cooler than any bike jay got when its done I had it running a few years back but broke a clutch cable n its been sitting since but jays videos have inspired me to start workin on it again thanks jay!
I remember my friend Bob Sinclair having one. Definitely the best sounding four cylinder motorcycle ever made, and arguably the best sounding motorcycle of all time. Wonderful machine.
VideosAreDrugs The $23,500 figure isn't a prediction but a figure based on inflation. It doesn't reflect the market value but what one would cost if it sold in 2015 adjusted for inflation.
that engine and those pipes are sick looking. And it sounds just awesome, I know jay enjoyed this more than me but I watched this vid 4 times fantastic.
I believe that was the Fontana 4 leading shoe drum brake, it looked like it. They were a wonderful brake, and highly sought after by racers in the seventies even when twin discs were available. I actually had one on an old AJS boy racer copy, and the brake drum was worth more than the whole bike.
If only the sound here was as nice as in real life. Those engines were built with gear driven cams, straight cut gears and all on roller or ball bearings. When running the thrashing noises it makes sound like it's going to explode, but also sound so wonderfully mechanical.
Me Leno, thankyou for the music. You see, I love to learn all about bikes and you did that but big part of that is the song they sing and let us hear it sing. Thankyou. As a high school kid I had a picture of Ago air born an MV Agusta on my bedroom wall. Some people remember where they were when Kennedy was shot or our prime minister Harold Holt drowned, I remember where I was when I heard that Ago changed to Yamaha.
I really appreciate how open Jay is with his hobby. Most people would be a lot more private about stuff like this. Showing how he still has magazines and brochures from the 70s is pretty cool.

It's great to know that information, you did a great job to make a beautiful motorcycle. It is a work of art
I like this because I feel I have been invited round to a mates, offered a beer, and I can sit back and hear the story.

+pickupmick ...nope ..... owned and ridden ... its a completely different experience to just taking bikes for a test ride sorry ;)

That bike does sound fantastic.
Krevin Grard You bet
Krevin Grard It really does! I've never heard a bike sound like that. I used to think the Norton Commando was the best sounding bike, but now I am not so sure.
John Sumser Aprilia rsv4 superbike.
Krevin Grard I just you-tubed the RSV4 and that is also a fine sounding bike.
I've never seen Jay enjoy a bike this much. This one must be one of his favorites.
Jay nails it 110%
the sound its intoxicating
Nice to see they got out of the habit of putting intro music over the sound of the engine :-)
How can 40 people have given this a thumbs down? Were they coming here expecting a cookery video? I could listen to Mr. Leno chatting all day with great knowledge about all these wonderful vehicles. Wow. I have read about these since this one was made. I never heard one run before now. My jaw dropped. So fun to see this. Thanks Jay!
It's an investment, it's our future. From a guy who can't even get rid of a brochure or magazine!😂 I love it!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWW
You weren't kidding about it being the best sounding bike. I totally wasn't expecting that. Jaw dropped on the floor
What I remember from the MV is the SOUND! It s special for sure! I watched the World Ch.ship race in Anderstorp in Sweden in -74 and the sound of the MV was something you do not forget. Sadly the MV had a pricetag we just could not deal with in those days.
What I like about Jay is, he has a way of connecting to people, even us in the cheap seats!
THE MV AGUSTA 750 AMERICA IT'S REALLY A PIECE OF ART.
GREAT BIKE AND ALSO A GREAT VIDEO.
MV DESERVES THE TITLE OF THE FERRARI OF THE MOTORCYCLES.
YES BUT THE THREE CYLINDER LAVERDA WAS FAR MORE LIKE IT
Burnley5960 A me piacciono sia le MV che le Laverda, però al momento ho solo Moto Guzzi...
Jay every time I watch this channel you make me want to go and hop on my bike and just ride or jump in my car and drive. I love everything with an engine and you really further my passion showing me all these cool bikes and cars that I would have never known about without you. Thanks for being a fellow petrolhead!
Who is watching in 2020 ..... I watch this atleast a month...... Great bike.... Jay keep the air cooled vibes alive

I never get tired of this one, Jay. That styling, that sound.
This is the only bike I would happily give up my 900ss bevel for. And kudos to Jay for these videos.. this is what he truly excels at.

I don't think Jay reads the you tube comments Chris :)
Kyle Sunderlin AA
Chris Cunningham I got my first shaft driven bike in around 1990. I never looked back. so smooth, with no rattling chain etc.

4 man doesn't have any kids these r his baby 💖 gratefull hear shares them💖💯🔥

I'm here watching this in 2019 - thanks Jay this content still hits
I watched race in anderstorp in sweden 1974 and will not forget the sound of this bike !!
WOW!!! This MV Agusta 750 sounds S-A-W-E-E-T!
Vielen Dank an Jay, für diese super Presentation von der MV Agusta. !
Wouw dieser schöne starke Sound ! ;-)

The Old 70's Bikes have made a strong comeback .. lots of dudes going old school. Love the old KZ400 too.
Great bike! I wanted one from the time I first saw it in a magazine, but could not find one to buy. The 1973 Model looks fantastic . Great sound . Great riding position . Freedom at its best .
That was one of the more passionate episodes I have seen. Seems to really love that bike. I would like to see more of the stuff he's had for a long time.

You KNOW you are a proper petrol head when the carbs in your kitchen are metal
He's gaining points in my consideration... what a beauty. Vintage bikes are the best.
I love the spouse diplomacy tip! Jay is a cool guy.
As Jay and his wife have been together, I don't think she buys that bit for a second! With my wife, it's the difference between "Toys & Tools." She say's "why do you need another toy?" Jay's "Tools" just have a few more zeros on the sales slip!! ;^)
Beautiful machine. Your knowledge and resources are a real treasure. Oh and your generosity with the above.
Wasn't this known as "the flying fire engine" back in the GP days due to the sound? Just awesome!
My 66 bridgestone 90 sport is gonna b cooler than any bike jay got when its done I had it running a few years back but broke a clutch cable n its been sitting since but jays videos have inspired me to start workin on it again thanks jay!
thanks for the great ride on an iconic agusta..i love its sound, the mic didnt fail you!
I remember my friend Bob Sinclair having one. Definitely the best sounding four cylinder motorcycle ever made, and arguably the best sounding motorcycle of all time. Wonderful machine.
Bob also had a really nice MV 750 S.
He was referring to the Cycle magazine. He said he has owned the bike for 25-26 years which would make that mid 1980's.
Thank you for giving life to my mental notes on this bike.
Hanging out in the kitchen man cave looking at old literature. Nice.
$6,000 in 1977 works out to about $23,500 today. Pretty expensive but easy to spend that much on bike today.
With just a handful of additional options, my Indian Chief Classic cost me $22,500. So you're right. That said...I *love* it!
+Kurt Jensen actually your prediction is wrong one sold for almost 50k in 2008. www.bonhams.com/auctions/16535/lot/379/
VideosAreDrugs The $23,500 figure isn't a prediction but a figure based on inflation. It doesn't reflect the market value but what one would cost if it sold in 2015 adjusted for inflation.
you lost me at figure....
VideosAreDrugs Nah, man...you were already lost.
Love this channel so much. Finally someone that "gets me" and what I'm about.
You look just like Ago riding that bike Jay. Great shows, and thanks for sharing all your insight and passion for all things mechanical.
@ 4:54 one of the sweetest motorcycle engines I've ever heard.
that engine and those pipes are sick looking. And it sounds just awesome, I know jay enjoyed this more than me but I watched this vid 4 times fantastic.

Jay Leno is a true American Treasure.
Thank you, Jay for sharing this with us.
That is the most beautiful engine I have EVER seen in my life...
Amazing to see these bikes close up like this. Thank you Mr Leno!
possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
Great bike! Italians know how to make bikes that stir the emotions! Thanks for the video.
Other rich people take note! THIS is how you should consider spending your money. It rescues and restores pieces of motorcycling history.
I still put up my word to people who never actually ride and how MV Augusta sounded. It is still the number 1 best motorcycle. Best sound ever.
Jay thanks again for taking the time out. More motorcycles please.
Webers on the kitchen island - JAY YOU'RE THE MAN!
Grazie Jay! ♥🔴
Sì però il Conte Agostini e i 37 gran premi vinti...
Wow, that sound. That's a machine. Beautiful.
Thanks for sharing Jay!
I'm 14 and love theses cars I can only dream of having a garage like this
Me Leno, thankyou for the music. You see, I love to learn all about bikes and you did that but big part of that is the song they sing and let us hear it sing. Thankyou. This looks recently restored Jay. Another good episode. This particular bike seems to hold an especially soft spot with you.
MV Agusta And Ducati Both Have That " Ferrari " Sound, Gear Driven Engines Do Have A Bark All Their Own! More Motorcycles Please!
"It's our future!" Classic!
all those straight boxy lines. I love it!
That is truly a beautiful design. Timeless. 👌🏼
Jay Leno garage, best thing on yt.
What a gorgeous piece of machinery !
This is one of my favorite episodes of JLG. I'm interested in seeing what other motorcycles he has in his collection.
My wife new what my fxb sturgis was when I asked permission , love the bike shows jay!
Last year at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, a guy in the Hotel we stayed at had an MV. It had no issues walking away from my 1 K Guzzi.
You’ve got the best motorcycles Jay.
You are my hero. Thanks Jay.
That fj60 at 6:40 ❤
Fantastic machine, this one is one of the best Beautiful motorcycles of all time
I always wanted this America. a Grand poster in my bedroom I dreamed away. I owned Guzzi Le Mans II. A very good alternative 🇳🇱
Loved it! What I wouldn't give for a day in that place just to drool. Riverside isn't that far away!
What a great bike - thanks for sharing it with us. Dave from Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Just love your garage.
That bike sounds good with stock exhaust. I love the bars, and side profile. Looks great in red also.
I love the history notions that you put in your videos. Well done!
What a sound for a bike, simple gorgeous!
Great vid...Jay you deserve to own these beautiful bikes because of your passion..luv ya.
I love the fact he goes out with his jacket and jeans and gives it the berries!
Such a great looking bike! Thanks for showing it.
The most beautiful machine i've ever seen
