Does the coin purely scratch it off? I assume I could use something else like a butter knife? And what do you use to scrub the faucet? Thank you so much :)

The coin sort of breaks the dissolving limescale - for the faucet a toothbrush is great. And yes a knife would also work just dont use too much pressure.
