I know that parents abandoning children are selfish cowards and I do not approve of that behavior, but because of Mona's dad leaving Mona and her mom, Mona's mom showed her own daughter her true colors by making her marry a cheating rich man even though Mona's mom knew that he was cheating on her daughter and Mona was able to start a new life without her mother and look where that has gotten her, selling books and poets that she made and being married to a person who cares for her for who Mona is.
