So the Up Smash Cancel is actually really similar to a tech found in many other fighting games called 'Kara Cancelling', where you interrupt the start-up of a normal with a special/grab. Usually you want to use either a normal with quick forward movement or invincibility. You can see the idea of cancelling a far-reaching normal into a grab in most street fighter games, as an example.
You can actually Kara Cancel with Ryu and Ken too in this game. Down Smash can be canceled into specials without hitting anything if you do it on certain frames.
@@just-linx8271 So does Terry! Canceling jab 2 into any special is an incredibly common combo tool that you see comp terry do alot. Wiki says that only these 3 bros got access to Kara canceling, and its sick that they implemented this into their kit. Kazuya didnt get it because (to my knowledge, I dont play it) Tekken doesnt really have Kara. It's no kara-buster, but it's still awesome.
@@sicklysweetdenouement I know you can chain into specials. You're saying jab 2 for Terry can be kara'd into an input? Doesn't seem that useful because it doesn't step Terry forward enough to give him extra range. You might as well either land it and then normal cancel into an input special or just use the input special by itself. Kara cancels for Ken and Ryu are better because they can do it off of down-Smash, so Kara-ing into a Tatsu makes them fling forward because the game incorrectly thinks they are further forward than they actually are, even more so on Ken. Edit: Alright, so I looked it up, and you are somewhat correct. Terry can Kara-Cancel from d-tilt, f-tilt, u-tilt, and three aerials (which are all but one of Terry's cancelable moves). Jab2 is *not* one of these. You can normal cancel out of it, but you can't Kara Cancel out of it. Not that you'd want to anyway, you might as well just do the input special by itself.
@@just-linx8271 Aight so now I just checked, and now we're both somewhat correct. Jabs 1 and 2 CAN be kara'd, but the combo I was thinking of was people interrupting Jab 3 normally into F or U specials. Jab 3 cant be kara'd, but it doesnt seem to matter since its a true combo anyhow. The only actually real Kara-based combo I can think of now is F-tilt into F-special.
For a random PKBeats fact, he happened to appear in a Soundsmith TF2 video uploaded the same day as this one, titled "The Immersive Sniper" as a sniper in the very last clip of the episode.
I think the reason for the explosion not affecting ganon's upb is that ganon's move doesn't use a flame/explosion effect, instead it has the electric effect, which extends it's hitstun and duration, probably messing with the timing combination of both explosions and the knockback. it also has a different knockback angle from falcon dive... just guessing with the wiki, I can't really know xD
@@captainphoton1693 Yes but also no Electric moves still cause more hitstop than other moves, the frames where both characters are frozen when a character is hit so that the players have mental time to recognize what happened Turns out Ultimate's patch notes confusingly referred to hitstop as hitstun back when it still received updates despite hitstun being a different thing which means electric moves do affect "hitstun" but not the right hitstun, lmao

I like the idea of calling Lucas’s invincibility tech “Aeolia’s Needle”, since the animation resembles him pulling a needle, and Aeolia’s needle is the first one in Mother 3 to not be pulled by Lucas, it’s pulled by Masked Man
I wonder if the difference between falcon dive and dark dive has to do with where they hold the explosive. Falcon holds it above and away from the target, so the explosion sends them downwards, while Ganondorf holds it more straight to the side, so the explosion sends them sideways
8:04 Here’s a neat little thing you can do to circumvent this. There’s a spirit in the Min-Min dlc, (I believe it’s called Headlock?) Where, it has the ability to increase your size when you have a large enough percent. Try it with that?

Your previous “Anti Steve” tech, the Juicy Lucy is actually just as if not more useful against other characters in a team match with Steve as your ally. Scince you can actually co-ordinate with him to set it up.
Something that tends to work for Pokemon names is if you're reading the name that's used in English versions of the game, just pronounce it the way an American would be likely to read it. It's usually right because they're usually just English words smashed together. Even the weird-looking ones usually are. Examples: Smear + beagle = Smeargle. Sable + eye = Sableye.
From what I can gather, the reason Falcon Dive launches at that weird angle whenever a held explosive goes off is due to the animation of the move. You can see that the hand holding the item is higher than the attack's "origin", thus it sends downward. Meanwhile you have Ganondorf's Dark Dive animation, which appears to put both of his hands at roughly the same vertical height, so there wouldn't be any changes to the angle.

For the Lucas tech I think we can call it up smash kara cancelling. It it an advanced tech that can be used in more traditionnal fgc. Basically a kara cancel is when you can cancel the startup of a move by another.

For example if for a move you have to press 2 buttons at the same time, there is a chance that the player will not press both of them exacly at the same frame, so what will happen is the game will cancel the startup of the move by the one you wanted.
But player quickly found out that some move can have interesting properties on the startup (fowrard momentum, invincibility etc).
Example is chun li in street fighter 3 3rd strike where she can cancel the start up of one of her kick whick have a lot of forward momentum into her grab, so she will basically have a huge range grab (and we call it kara throw)
What Lucas is doing is exaclty the same thing. Using an intersting property of a move to enhanced another one.
