did he reference vampire guy, Kevin Thorne, next to his ring escort,, and not even realize it? she looked sad after saying "Kevin Thorne"....she's a beautiful lady. great story by RVD
RVD was always a chill guy. He only told people to pick a hand when they had truly pissed him off, the rest of the time he just wanted to work, hit the Mary Jane and hang with his buddies.
It depends on who you ask. There’s a reason TNA fans called him Bob Van Dam or No Job Rob because he wasn’t the RVD of ECW or WWE in TNA, he was the big fish now, he was the big name who should be putting talent over and he was so selfish and so big on himself he refused to lose clean to AJ Styles when AJ was TNA world champion because he didn’t think AJ was a big enough name to pin him clean.
I used to be a huge Fan of Punk. Back in the days i never watched the Indipendent promotions because i was to young and only knew about WWE, but I instantly became a Fan when saw him first. His track record of having backstage beef speaks volumes. For example what he did with Jeff Hardy in 2009 was unacceptable. I still was too young to realise what was going on so i stayed a fan of him because of his talent. Know i am all grown up ad sadly have to admit, that i cheared for the wrong guy.
I remember Rob lost a match to Jerry Lynn or somebody in ECW, and after the game, he cut a promo saying it did not matter if he lost because he was still over. That was probably during his arrogant youth phase, but it still showed he had a grip on what he was doing and what it meant. Seeing him now, he is still cool and has learned from his experiences.
That played into his heel persona at the time, and he was legit upset he was a second pick so wanted to give himself some props. If anything it helped the moment a ton imo and no one looked bad after.
Uniquely Mick Foley didn’t do those promos and it’s why he’s my favourite. His promos were always “you’re the best there is… but” he always put his opponent over no matter who it was. Mick would just say that he had more heart or more determination or that he could withstand that pain and maybe just maybe the stars would align.
Reminds me of when he first brought Cactus Jack into the then-WWF - it was after Triple H had beaten the shit out of him as Mankind, and he cut a promo talking about how Mankind was "one tough SOB" but wasn't tough enough to beat Triple H, so he had to break out Cactus Jack to do it instead.
Go listen to any promo from Heyman, Cornette, Heenan, Cena, hell, even Undertaker. They never ever make light of their opponents before a match. They put them over; how tough they are, how fast/strong/technical etc they are and what a challenge it will be to be up against them. But then comes the "but"... But as good as you are, you will be put to the sword by the Beast Incarnate. The Midnight Express. The Head of the Table. Andre The Giant. Rest in peace. Basically, put the other guy over huge and then say "I will beat you." Btw, you refer to Mick Foley. Guess who had a major influence on his career? Both Heyman and Cornette. If you are sitting under THOSE learning trees... How can you possibly be bad? Of course Mick Foley was going to be GOAT level.
@@randomlyfactual1943 undertaker has never been a great promo unfortunately so I can’t even think of an iconic taker promo. "WHAT!? IS SOMEONE OFFENDING ME?! AM I OFFENDED!? SHOULD I BE OFFENDED?!" Damn, Rob just nailed perfectly the description on Punk. "Shoot" promo of Hangman, "someone" spreading rumours about him getting Cabana fired, getting mad at Hornswoggle for him asking mutual friends phone number...yeah, Rob definitely knows what he's talking about.
Stop bringing up the Hornswoggle shit cause the story behind that has been explained but some of you like a narrative. Hayley Williams was not a mutual fan and it wasn't up to Punk to be giving her number out.
Yea it was strange. First CM Punk did not show any sign that he was offended. Only after months, when he had time to think about it, he started hammering Hangman.
@@sanmar6292 its especially funny when punk has done shoots during scripted promos on HHH, though got offended by page basically saying "you only care for yourself, no one likes you". Colt being referenced is purely speculation by fans.
@@_Amin_99 Punk's actions literally proved the Hangman promo to be 100% correct. Hangman really was trying to defend AEW from CM Punk, as Punk attempted to destroy the entire company.
It makes me happy to see that RVD is still looking healthy and is doing well that man took a lot of serious bumps in his career and everytime he did the Five Star Frog Splash I winced cause I could see how much damage that did to his abdomen truly one of the most entertaining performers to watch any time he wrestled

@@rohitchaoji I do. Disappointed, he had lackluster move set and 0 impact to any storyline. Even Right to Censor storylines looked like Goat material if compared to him. Wish WWE used him better. The idea was great, execution and timing was off.
What makes it worse is that its coming from RVD. If RVD is calling you an egomaniac, you have a problem. Punk is a internet smark turned pro wrestler who became a gatekeeper after he finally made it to the top. He has the toxic philosophy of Bret Hart x100.
@@KRiZZxTV What about RVD was more egotistical than the people who were actually the most popular wrestlers though? I could see if this was "Young Shawn Michaels" who never made it to be religiously devout.
lol the part where Rob mentions CM Punk telling him he's having a team meeting, it's definitely true because there's 2 other wrestlers(can't remember which 2, but there's shoots with them) that said Phil came up to them and said the same thing.
I think it was Edge, Christian and Chris Jericho who made fun of Punk when he did a locker room meeting and was trying to be the locker room leader while those three guys were there too. But that was already past the "WWE ECW" times what Rob is talking here, so guess there has been more of these occasions.
I appreciate Rob is brutally honest and unapologetic. Seems like Punk struggles with the fact he failed at MMA yet wants to push a tough guy image. He clearly isn't the alpha he strives to be. RVD is intelligent and laid back. It's refreshing to hear his opinions.
He didn't just fail at MMA, he failed Miserably!! The fact that he still has an Ego and thinks that he's the "Man" is comical. Can't even take him Serious. Let him fad into oblivion, where he belongs, so everyone else can move forward. He had his time as a glorified stuntman and now it's time for the younger guys get there shine.
Rob's interviews are always fun to listen to because he's never been fake about anything ever, he just tells everything to you straight. His various episodes on Jericho's podcast are fantastic listens.
I don't even think Punk is a mark for himself. I think he's just a dreadfully insecure individual who lacks very basic communication skills and people skills.
And that’s why people will remember it. RVD had a great insight when WWE suggested he do something when he got mad like undo his ponytail. He said why, everyone is always mad? Being different is how you stand out.
It's a character. I'm sure there's element of truth, but Windham Rotunda is not unequivocally the same person that we saw on Smackdown. He couldn't be and still be successful.
You can say a lot of things about this man, he had a ego (which he did, but it was also part of his character and he never said he didn’t) he had his issues for sure but you can’t say he didn’t care about the business and didn’t try and bury a company he worked for or other people he worked with.
@@seanleary7711 I wasn’t talking about wwe I was talking about aew if you didn’t realize, in aew he literally did try and bury the company and trashed the people he worked with if you didn’t notice, and he was the company’s champion. I have no problem for the way he left wwe, wwe did bury people and treated him terrible, but the way he walked out of aew was very much distasteful and trashy imo.
When Rob was making his singer analogy, all I could think was “I don’t have to imagine a singer like that. His name is David Lee Roth, and he’s my favourite frontman of all time “.
I’m a huge CM Punk fan, don’t really know now since the incident. But, what RVD said is spot on. Punk is so uptight for no good reason. It’s always “someone’s out to get me.” Yeah, saints in wresting are few and far between. However, not everyone is out to get you, especially nowadays. They’re either doing their job or totally do not care. Punk and The Elite should all lighten the f up. Y’all are vets acting like it’s your first shot at being enhancement talent at a big promotion and you’re hellbent on getting to the top. Again, having an ego is fine. But, paranoia and delusions aren’t.
I mean to be fair Punk probably is right. There probably is someone out there that would like to ruin his career and screw his reputation. But literally every celebrity there ever was and will be will go through that. There will always be 1 person that hates what you do. It his stupid paranoia that hurts him and everyone around him.
This all started cuz Hangma'am Adam Page went into business for himself during a live confrontation. Putting Punk on the spot with backstage drama. Punk is absolutely right to think people are trying to disrespect him.
@@vileluca not really it all started after the podcast punk did a few weeks before and then hangman just put them same words out but he didn't mention anyone name. Punk really has a problem.
Ahhh, we all have delusional thoughts from time to time, to think we're always right, or think something of someone and it be wrong. Punk had alot of issues growing up from abuse so I get it. Is he always right? No. Could he handle it better.? Well yea
Bruh think about it…. If I was CM Punk In 2013 I’d be pissed that I had to put over 3 part timers, show up the next night, get paid less and work while being hurt and only have 6 weeks off!!! And those 3 chumps are the ones that barged into his locker room cuz of his rant against the media yet the media is asking him these questions and he’s giving them honest answers
I respect that CM Punk is straight edge and has never drank or used drugs but I wouldn't judge him if he would just take a few bong hits and chilled everyday.
Funny how Rob Van Dam said imagine if that was in the music industry.....it actually is in hip hop. For the most part every rapper talks about how great they are and how every other rapper is beneath them (minus their homies).

AEW should not be hiring RVD because if they do they say stupid things. Look Eric you love AEW this much. But everything what RVD said is pretty true and he nailed it. But I was 20 years old watching WWE trust me and believe me. WWE they have been on top throughout the years than AEW. They started their show for 4 years ago. We started since 25 years for WWE. They don’t have truly respect people. But they are irritating others and other companies. When their is a problem I solve problems. But AEW doesn’t do a lot of the biggest matches than WWE does. Respect is earned not giving out and not UFC kind of thing. With all do respect I watch CM Punk in WWE history of this business but he is the best in the world. I get it you respect AEW but we have the same people has been Champions before in WWE. But if you want to make promo don’t just hey I’m a bitch or I’m better than you I hear those words many times but it’s not respectfully respect others it makes you wanna insulting them.
This is exactly what Booker T was saying. His exact words were if I was backstage and I heard Punk saying that he’s the top draw who draws all the money at a real media scrum than he would of walked up to him and fought him because now it’s beyond wrestling and just playing a character. You really think you’re better than everyone when you start talking like that.
AEW media scrums have always had a bit of kayfabe, just look at Jay White's after Forbidden Door. It's the shit Punk pulled off after the scrum that's the real problem
God RVD is by far the coolest dude the industry has ever had. As he said everyone needs to have an ego but RVD is the only one that accepted that truth and kept it to himself so he doesn’t need to be a dick but still reach the top of the industry
RVD explained why Hangman is one of the best characters nowadays. Because his promos are not about being the best, but about fighting against yourself, trust in yourself, losing and getting up, doing your best and be better.
CM Punk always came across entitled to me. One of those guys who thought because he was good that he automatically deserved whatever he thought he’d worked for. He had great mic skills and a good run bashing the business, genuinely it was his best work, but he was never bigger than the guys he convinced himself he was. Not even close to be honest. He was hitting his peak when he quit and yet I don’t think anyone misses him the way we miss other legends like Austin, Rock, Undertaker, Kane, HHH, Brett Hart etc. and the list goes on.

Hangman going to business for himself on live television is right specially when it was about that cabana nobody
RVD is hilarious 😂
RVD is so wise. Tells it like it is. Great humble charisma in front of a crowd as well.
It makes me happy to see that RVD is still looking healthy and is doing well that man took a lot of serious bumps in his career and everytime he did the Five Star Frog Splash I winced cause I could see how much damage that did to his abdomen truly one of the most entertaining performers to watch any time he wrestled
It’s hilarious how much his wife loves him she’s sitting there hanging on his every word. RVD is a lucky guy.
"Strippers can be fun to date, as long as can they leave the gimmick at work and not bring it home... and be normal at home... huhhe, hehe... Right?" (Looking at his girlfriend.) Hahahaha! (And he's absolutely right.) Rob Van Dam, one of a kind. 😆
Keepin it real.
thats his wife
That was hilarious, but the fact she remembered who Kevin Thorn was and he didn't had me in tears laughing 😂😂😂
@@pescadinha23 Well, to be fair, Rob was high off as ass when Kevin was in WWE. And it's not like Kevin was around long enough for Rob to actually get to know him. He, probably, only remembers passing him in the hallway a small handful of times. Which is sad because both Mordecai and Kevin Thorn were EXCELLENT gimmicks that Vince just outright refused to invest into... kinda like a certain "Fiend" in modern WWE...

RVD is one of the coolest dudes to talk to. Always has time for fans.

Met RVD at a restaurant called Pacers about 15 years ago. Super fucking cool guy.
The best dude, I met him at a bar in Mi, and he was so friendly. Much Respect to RVD "The whole fuckin' show"
Those were some of the wisest things ever said about Pro Wrestling. Leave it to RVD. Freaking nailed it.👏🏾
What makes it worse is that its coming from RVD. If RVD is calling you an egomaniac, you have a problem. Punk is a internet smark turned pro wrestler who became a gatekeeper after he finally made it to the top. He has the toxic philosophy of Bret Hart x100.
@@KRiZZxTV Bret Hart really was the best. CM Punk is just a pretender.

RVD is Awesome easily one of my all-time favorites

lol the part where Rob mentions CM Punk telling him he's having a team meeting, it's definitely true because there's 2 other wrestlers(can't remember which 2, but there's shoots with them) that said Phil came up to them and said the same thing.
I think it was Edge, Christian and Chris Jericho who made fun of Punk when he did a locker room meeting and was trying to be the locker room leader while those three guys were there too. But that was already past the "WWE ECW" times what Rob is talking here, so guess there has been more of these occasions.
@@KadeBloc I think Cody and Booker T too.
@James I think you're confusing events here.
But I am sensing some irrelevant and unrelated hostilities here.
@@DeadmanInc336 yes cody told a stroy where he wanted to be the locke room leader and Booker T confronted him telling he was not his leader
@@ReaperFrost Punk is just a shitty communicator, with shitty people skills, and shitty social skills from the sound of things.
Rvd used to be that one wrestler that everyone wants to watch every time, he should be bigger than he was, he is a legend, but he deserved more.
RVD and Kurt Angle sound just the like🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, both legends are hilarious including CM Punk
I came to hear the same thing about Brooks again

Jist of the conversation: CM Punk is his own biggest mark. 🤷🏾♂️ we need a Mr Monday Night podcast.
I don't even think Punk is a mark for himself. I think he's just a dreadfully insecure individual who lacks very basic communication skills and people skills.
What night should it be on?
Gist
RVD does have a podcast
@@DeadmanInc336 And yet he makes more then you ever will .
I'd have to say Bray Wyatt's promo last night was all humility and no ego.
True. He only interrupted once during the show with a graphic on screen.
I Think is a 100% a character.His voice kinda sounded wierd.
Terrible acting it’s called
RVD might be a lot of things to some people but one thing I can say about him is that he's not a liar.
I could spot the narcissism coming from CM Punk from day one, almost like there's something wrong with him. RVD is spot on with his analysis.
CM PUNK THE BEST IN THE WORLD 🌎
You can say a lot of things about this man, he had a ego (which he did, but it was also part of his character and he never said he didn’t) he had his issues for sure but you can’t say he didn’t care about the business and didn’t try and bury a company he worked for or other people he worked with.
I like the way he mentioned Kevin Thorn :D "Vampire Dude"
I’d love him to come back to WWE for one more run 💯
Rob had an interesting take on the situation. An RVD interview is never boring. He is just one of the unique characters of wrestling.
RVD is just a fucking dude!

6:58 That demonic voice Rob did scared the hell outta me😂😂😂
This is exactly what Booker T was saying.
Rob is an excellent judge of character because he's introspective.
