Earlier in the shift, OEL was slashed across the legs before he cross-checked the Tampa player and then was cross-checked in kind. Tampa committed two infractions on OEL but only the Leafs one was called of course.
OEL owes Woll a drink. Silly turnover early lead to a breakaway, near goal. Another turnover lead to one of the Lightning goals. And silly penalty (which, yeah, bad officiating) leads to another goal.
Mario Lemieux scored 70 goals in 1987-88 and the Penguins MISSED THE PLAYOFFS. He won the Art Ross Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award, and the Hart Trophy... and MISSED THE PLAYOFFS.
My wife and I went to the game last night. I can guarantee that call on OEL was due to his past as a Florida Panther. The Lightning was almost gifted the game but the buds held firm and we were able to go home happy. Giving thanks for this win.
Why must the combination of the Leafs and refs make me have a near heart attack? Anyway great game, glad to see both Knies and Matthews producing, things feeling more positive than years past. Also damn I feel bad for Samsonov in Vegas, but I mean he’s their problem now 😈
Love the guy but it just doesn't look like he's an NHL level goalie. It sucks because I think it's mostly mental but hey, for goaltenders the mental game is a huge part of it. You can even just visually see that with how calm and collected Stolarz and Woll both are, even during scrambles.
Stolarz is exactly what Woll needed, and Woll is exactly what Stolarz needed. Stolarz is in a place in his career where he should probably be a starter, but he hasn't started enough to just be handed the reigns of being a starter on any good team. Woll, meanwhile, has injury concerns, and I'm sure there's some pressure there when you know if you get injured your team has a very good chance of absolutely tanking (Loved Sammy in interviews but good lord was it terrifying when Woll was out). Additionally Woll seems to play his best when he's competing for the net. Last year he was battling with Sammy when Sammy was still playing decently, and it seemed to really help him take the next step. This year he's comepeting for the net against a much better goaltender and... he's keeping up. Both of them are undeniably top 10 in the league, debatably at LEAST one of them are top 5. Obviously it's always a little iffy having a nearly 50/50 tandem since you generally want to keep a hot goalie in net, but I really think it's been good for both of them to split the net like this. Stolarz definitely should continue to get the nod for a few extra games but I think easing Woll into more starts and seeing if he can handle it (both in terms of performance and health) would be great too.
3 INTERESTING FACTS (Leafs related) about Simpson's dislike for the Leafs and Marner on defense. 1. Interesting fact people under 44 may not know. Leafs drafted defensemen Wendel Clark because The TOP Rated JR in the 1985 draft Craig Simpson told the Leafs (long before Lindros threat to Quebec) don't draft me I won't come. 2. Leafs take defenseman Wendel Clark turned him into a forward. Leafs listen to Hunter and draft Marner 30 yrs later and last year tried Marner as a defenseman. 3. Wendel had more career points than Simpson, actually Simpson finished 7th in career points from that draft year.
it's odd, but i am getting the feeling that matthews realizes that the team is bigger than him now. really now, was it just me or did anyone else start to not miss him so much ? watch his post game interview, he knows the team is better than him, which is a good thing, lemme just clear that up, yes, it's a good thing : )
I had to check and make sure that Robertson hadn't actually suffered a vocal-cord injury. With his luck so far this season I wasn't 100% sure it was a joke.
I remember seeing Knies get his first playoff goal on Tampa when the Leafs beat them out that series. Since then I thought of Knies as our Tampa kryptonite. Often seeing Knies get a point in, if not all, most games they play against the lightning since.
Watched the FIRST PERIOD of a high school game at the Anaheim Ducks practice facility today and saw FIVE (CORRECT) cross-checking calls. We need to get players back to just putting a stinky paw in their opponent’s grill so refs can go, “Alright, nobody’s getting a penalty ‘cause I find this amusing, but break it up, everybody!”
He's a great scorer but he's still primarily a playmaker. It's generally just inherently harder to be a playmaker from center, but also he has been tested at center and just doesn't perform as well. Not to mention it's kinda hard to find a line for him at center, and worse, it's very hard to fill in the gap he leaves on the wing
@@thepinkplushie Most of the best playmakers of all-time were centers. Also, Marner gets Selke votes and kills penalties. Sounds more than a little like Patrice Bergeron, who played center.
“O-wow!” isn’t linked in the description. Not directly anyway, which I assumed was the point. I know how to find it via search and the sdpn channel, but I assumed a direct video link on the description.
I dare him to do another east coast signing...I was intending to drive 2.5 hours to Halifax however I was sick and the driving weather was crap. Maybe a signing in Moncton next time and I promise to get you a REAL "Q" jersey Steve....the Wildcats!
Is it just me, or were all the post game Leaf player interviews with American born players? Anything to make Ballard roll in his grave for his 50+ year curse...
Great way to say that the refs call penalties against the Leaf's than they do other teams there is a bias against the Leaf's a blind man can see. The OEL penalty, tampa's 3rd goal just look at how his leg is that is not a normal standing position. It is bad when you have to beat the other team and the officials on too many nights but good to see they pulled out a win in this one.
After watching Panthers play last two games, I can only say one thing: There is literally no one in East who can beat them in a 7-game series when they really play like they care.
This Bettmen Agenda NHL truly hat3 the Leafs and the Referees are trained to go against Leafs in every game. I am sure we all remember the 2 disallowed goals vs Caps last week, the Refs and NHL tried their best to bring down Toronto. Whie Cirellis Goal wasnt even reviewed!!! NOT A SINGLE DOUBT DESPITE THE PUCK GOING IN OFF A SKATE. THEY JUST WANTED TAMPA (AN AMERIKAN TEAM AGAINST A CANADIAN) TO GET BACK IN THE GAME.... REGARDLESS, AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE BETTER TEAM WON. THE NHL AND BETTMEN ARE STRICTLY AGAINST CANADIAN TEAMS DESPITE LEAFS ROAD GAMES BEING THE MOST EXPENSIVE GAMES OUT OF ANY OTHER TEAM... LEAFS CAN EARN MORE REVENUE IN A YEAR THAN ANAHEIM, SAN JOSE, SENS, KRAKEN, AND ISLANDERS COMBINED.
I’ll say it out loud, refs have it out for the leafs, Marner got picked off, no penalties and that was a terrible call on OEL, OEL took a hard slash from Gutless Guntsle,(wrong spelling but who cares) and then a wicked cross check from Anthony C, at least call both guys. I watch other games and leafs get the most dumb call against. Refs probably have family members who be Tampa to win, they need to check into Refs backgrounds, make sure they’re not making calls because they bets on the games.
Careful of Matt Knies, Minnesota Men only last 10 seconds when it matters 😂😂😂😂 I know the Badgers haven't been great but at least we didn't blow the NCAA final in a way every single person knew they would!
The refs sucked tonight. TBF, I'd have forgiven them for the OEL penalty because I come to expect that from the NHL, but MARNER GOT INTERFERED WITH NOT TWO MINUTES BEFORE!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Earlier in the shift, OEL was slashed across the legs before he cross-checked the Tampa player and then was cross-checked in kind. Tampa committed two infractions on OEL but only the Leafs one was called of course.
Ah yes, the famous Steve Dangle quote: 'STICK IT IN THE NET!' 😂
With the OHL Highlights and Lowlights, O-Wow for highlights, O-No for misplays
Thank God the Leafs didn't blow a 4-0 lead otherwise it would've been bad
Obviously
Thank you God.
First game I’ve been able to watch in real time for a few weeks and of course they had to stress me out for the last ten minutes of it
I genuinely think the stress takes days off my life every time the Leafs almost blow a lead
Well the officials tried to shoehorn the Bolts back into it…that call on OEL should have been offsetting for the retaliation
WELCOME TO THE JOSEPH WOLL SHOW
It wouldn't be a close Leafs win without a BS penalty call late in the game gifting the other team a PP.
OEL owes Woll a drink. Silly turnover early lead to a breakaway, near goal. Another turnover lead to one of the Lightning goals. And silly penalty (which, yeah, bad officiating) leads to another goal.
I was confident how well they were playing, but the second the score said 4-1, I was biting my nails till the end of the game 😂
Stayed up late just to watch this
Robby Robby Robby! God I wish I could bottle that feeling after that goal and wow what a goal scorers shot to break him out a slump 😊🎉
Someone should mention that a leaf (Nylander) injured Lundqvist even when they played for Sweden 😂
Mario Lemieux scored 70 goals in 1987-88 and the Penguins MISSED THE PLAYOFFS. He won the Art Ross Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award, and the Hart Trophy... and MISSED THE PLAYOFFS.

I love how Steves dog behaves exactly like a cat 😂😂😂.
Everytime he goes in for a hug or a kiss or cuddle, it runs tf away asap LOL
That intro was fantastic.
Stick it in the NET 😂😂😂

This game almost turned into the “It was 4-1”😂
Nylander shut that down real quick😅
so awesome seeing you today at eaton centre! your initial score prediction of “4-3 leafs” was *ALMOST* perfect!!

That was actually leafs vs refs and we still won...and i always say it rielly is our best LW and marner was our best RD until this year
"I'M HAVING A *GREAT* finger flick" will never get old, js
Steve called in the last pod, bet on Robertson goal this game hahahaha
Leafs can earn Bettmen more revenue than Ducks, Sharks, Kraken and Sens combined
yet the NHL is still against the richest Canadian Team

We need to get players back to just putting a stinky paw in their opponent’s grill so refs can go, “Alright, nobody’s getting a penalty ‘cause I find this amusing, but break it up, everybody!”
I am truly surprised Steve didnt go on a IYAGTTG rant on Woll tonight for a couple misadventures behind the net 😅
Good game. What if when domi comes back we slide him lw 2nd line with it n marner, just to see
14:42 our guy forgets he said shutout
Spotify coming first was an interesting experience 😅
I thought it was a kick. I can see why they might say otherwise, but it looked intentional to me.
Definitely seemed intentional. I really just wish games were all called the same. Tired of being the toilet for shit calls
I knew we wouldn’t blow it completely because of Chief
Lundqvist isn't just a Hank he is a Leaf. Never won a single game that mattered.
Nigel and Jack would agree with a lot of what you say, Steve
What a shit show. That penalty drove me mad.
3RD period was very leafy
Nick Robertson Bane mask better be in next years LFR intro
GO TO THE NET!
GO TO THE NET!
GO THE THE NET AND GOOD THINGS HAPPEN!
LEAFS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THIS ONE SENTENCE VERY THOROUGHLY.
No they need to understand STICK IT IN THE NET!
Just a few years back we would have lost that game… can you SMELLLLLLL what the ROCKKKKK is COOOOOOKING?
Another blatant example of how the refs are actively calling against the leafs
Vasilevskiy isn't the same goalie anymore. his numbers have taken a dive for a while now
in 2024, Hat Guy is the sensible one
I can’t wait for next seasons opening. It’s going to be flipping hilarious 😂 eih! Omh!
I'd love to be able to watch some OHL. Being Australian makes that difficult. I'm keen for that new series.
I'm not a Leafs fan. Someone please explain why Marmer does not play center.

@@JPMadden Again, they have tried it, it's just not where he's most effective, and causes line complications
23:06 probably a good thing the Raptors lost they are not making the playoffs so might as well tank for a better draft pick.
Answer: Justin Holl had a bad series in the Leafs win vs. Tampa Bay.
That penalty sequence with OEL was total horseshit honestly
“O-wow!” isn’t linked in the description.
Not directly anyway, which I assumed was the point.
I know how to find it via search and the sdpn channel, but I assumed a direct video link on the description.
I think the only reason he got a penalty and the TB player didnt, was because he broke his stick on the Tampa player
the "Eehh" returns
Hopefully it's in next year's intro
thoughts on that Seattle situation room no goal call in the last play of the game. seems pretty bs to me
Reaves for captain
Makes sense to me…. Captaincy goes to people who’ve been Out Of The Lineup‼️
Crazy idea but I like it better than matthews
Sure, love to see Reavo with th C.
Steve, I DARE you to do another book signing in the Durham region
I dare him to do another east coast signing...I was intending to drive 2.5 hours to Halifax however I was sick and the driving weather was crap. Maybe a signing in Moncton next time and I promise to get you a REAL "Q" jersey Steve....the Wildcats!

WOOOOOOOO LEE LEAFS!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
STOP PUTTING THE FINAL SCORE IN THE TITLE FOR THE LOVE OF THE LEAFS!!!!!!

Dog bit was super good, but Holmberg sucked ass tonight (and overall this season) - my two cents
After watching Panthers play last two games, I can only say one thing: There is literally no one in East who can beat them in a 7-game series when they really play like they care.
You’re generally right but it’s a long season and goaltending can be fickle.
The Leafs can this year...hell we we stayed with them for most of the game with the Marlies line up...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the leafs players don’t sign anything for these Refs for them or their kids. The refs were trying their hardest to let Tampa back in it.
