    Great video Tom. No assumed knowledge which is easy to do on videos like these. Looks like heli flying is extremely rewarding. Keep it up!

    Great video really interesting - thanks for posting.
    Good to see you still flying in these challenging times.
    Did you land on (in early part of the video when in autorotation) every time or go into a low level hover?

    • @TheMicroPilot
      @TheMicroPilot  4 года назад

      We just do an auto to the hover, the instructors can demonstrate a run on but we do run on when doing engine failures in the hover or hover taxiing :)

    Hello matey, THAT really was an awesome video and I really mean that mate well done and can't wait for the solo one. As I said before I really couldn't cope with hovering the dam thing when I had a very brief go in one at Shoreham airfield but it is good to know that when my Mrs keeps "torque torque torque" I can turn the bitch off and when my governor gives me a bollocking I can disable him as well LOL!!! One question though do you actually work for this helicopter flight training company? Why the need to dress up in your best "party frock" with the tie and stuff? Seriously though mate really loved the vid.

      Haha hi David, you never fail to make me smile each time you post! No, I don't officially work for the school in terms of my video making but I'm recently in the process of making my videos more professional and informative so a smart look and uniform can help towards that. I'm now trying for a good mix of cockpit and flying footage but also some more informative ground-based stuff along the style of Captain Joe and the Mentour Pilot youtube channels. On the side, I don't mind freely advertising the school as it's no harm to me and it's kind of a way of saying thanks for letting me film my videos, etc.

    Do you roll the throttle to idle or just a needle split

    • @TheMicroPilot
      @TheMicroPilot  4 года назад

      The instructor rolls the throttle to idle (which causes the needles to split) during the auto to get a feel for how the helicopter handles in the auto but then rolls the throttle back in as we get closer to the ground so we can recover and then come down to the hover.

    • @Desert515
      @Desert515 4 года назад

      The MicroPilot need to get the instructor to do a full down power off auto at some point with you to get the real feel for scraping the carbides on the skids a bit, power recoveries are great for not banging up helicopters but there is a huge between full down power off autos and 15 foot flare recoveries now this would also depend on the g2 POH and if it is permitted or not

    • @MichaelAtherton1
      @MichaelAtherton1 4 года назад

      @@Desert515 It's permitted in the G2. I did so many auto's to the ground in it - it felt unnatural to recover on the flare when I did it for my GST 😅

    • @grahammills8733
      @grahammills8733 4 года назад

      All the way to the ground, in G2, several times.

    • @Desert515
      @Desert515 4 года назад

      Michael Atherton tell that to to Robbie guys mild needle split and collective down that it their practice auto complete bs my opinion the only way to auto is throttle closed and to the ground

    Can u do a police helicopter thing at Barton on next vidio

    • @TheMicroPilot
      @TheMicroPilot  4 года назад +1

      I would love to do some filming work with the Police NPAS at some point, understandably they may be reluctant to let me film due to some of the sensitivity of their bases but it's worth me asking at some point in the future!
