- The new Pokédex is now live in Pokémon GO, and I am going to be checking it out. There is a lot of potential for a new Pokédex to vastly improve the collection aspect of the game. Hopefully, it ends up being a roaring success.

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, the game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player's real-world location. The game is free to play; it uses a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.
Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.
Update: Looks like Niantic disabled the new Pokédex due to lag issues. It will likely be back soon!
Lol well that explains it. My son was excited about it on the school run yesterday, then tried to show me this morning, and it was gone 😂😂 we were both very confused.
Yeah I found one, we can't see shiny mega or primal form in new pokedex 😂
if you want to "change the game", let us skip cutscenes and animations and for the love of arceus, SPEED THE GAME UP! everything takes way too long

8:46 you can already search your pokedex in detail, like just seeing legendaries. It's been like that for a while. It just got reverted and you can see so for yourself.

"if you complete 95% of the pokedex in all regions you unlock a feature where you get a free remote raid pass every 4 days." When i think of a genuine incentive to do something, for me it has to be something that translates to actual gameplay rather than just looks and that has a long term effect. If we got something like this i would be really excited to play.
It already reverted back to the old system it didn’t last that long. Though it did look really good.

I won’t lie I’m glad that with the new one that the 3 star shiny dex was taken out it’s such a pressure to hold on to shinies without evolving just to do mirror trades to get them as dex entries in that dex. Now with it being gone I can evolve my shinies as I please not worrying about it.
Collecting isn't favourite part of Pokémon GO so this update is going to be really cool. Thanks for the sneak peak on that, it looks really decent.
i honestly could not care less about that dex change. Dont get me wrong it does look ok but the game has so many gliches and bugs that need to be adressed and the dex should not have that high of a priority. The 4 times a month if at all i look in the dex i dont need a visual update. There are ppl out there that do like that but i think it was not necessary at this point of time.
I cant remember the last time I opened the pokedex. I started playing January 2024, I probabaly opened it maybe 3 or 4 times in 12 months.

Loved all the shadows of the Gmax Pokemon that I don't have ! 😅
My issue was with the lucky dex. You can't trade Mythicals--Mew, for instance, but 150 lucky in Kanto was not showing as Complete. The Unidentified section with just Meltan/Melmetal was showing as complete.

No disrespect meant but I had this on in another room and thought Kermit the frog was playing pogo
I actually like having an all tab where you can see then all im fairly new to the game and dont know what region each pokemon is from. But i do like it just wish there was an all option.
In the updated version, you could still scroll through all the regions after you clicked on a region from the main menu. You can see at 3:54 where it transitions from Sinnoh to Unova. So it essentially is an “all” tab, but with headers separating each region. This is how the old Dex worked as well.

Ok i got to disagree, 3 stars is where I start keeping things less gets traded or transferred. I would be a fan it looks great on yours but i still have the old one. So its not live for everyone yet.
I honestly thought the old dex was just "fine" as it was. It was convenient enough to look up what you were missing, and that's sort of all it was for.

U probs missed it cause it git reverted back to the old one cause of glitches like u were able to see unreleased shiny legendaries like enamorous lunala and solgaleo
