Your role in technology is not to see and follow each new invention, since that suggests you have plenty of time or maybe you work in a large company, not a small one. In regards to the professional certificate financial or accounting certificates are useful, but they are not the main factor for evaluation in the financial profession. Maybe from an HR point of view it is good, but in practice it is not, because as a financial professional it is just another way of telling stories.
