Fender has done Thinline Strats only very rarely in the past and never like this, so I think it fills a hole in their American production lineup. If I was in the market for a new Strat, this would definitely be on the short list. Thanks for the demo.
In my opinion this guitar should have been a hardtail, since even more wood has had to be removed for the spring cavity. I also wish that Fender offered the regular EJ Strat in that gorgeous vintage white.
I think Fender making this Strat is a really great idea! They've made Telecasters like this and the Strat was over due. I like the look and it's difficult to compare in a video, but I'm sure it sounds awesome! I wonder what a humbucker in the bridge would sound like. I believe the thinline Teles had a humbucker. Might be a nice mod...one of the hot rails that are same size as a single???👍😎🎸🎶
Now that I think about it. The hollowness may actually diminish some sustain in the notes. But it doesn't diminish it negatively. Rather, it sculpts away parts of the waveform, so you're left with, well, the sound of a hollowbody. So that in itself, is a physical aspect of a guitar that has real tonal consequence, coming in right after the usual suspects such as pick ups, trem style, bridge material, etc.
Ah man I wish I could get this. My idea is for it to be my number 1 and it get worn in. I love the look of a worn in guitar and this would look especially cool
I dig the sound but I wished they had gone with a regular neck shape. I don’t personally like anything that may influence or direct my hand position. My posture is product of the time I spent studying the guitar, would I won’t to mess with that?
I personally usually hate Stratocasters. Too thin sounding, all these modern neck profiles are rather gross. But after playing this one, it’s amazing. Fat neck, gnarly output. I might buy one, and I’m a tele man.

SweetwaterSound I was simply curious about whether or not Fender might make an EJ guitar like the newest one for us lefties. I know the average lefty strat costs mega bucks.
you can play anyones rig with exact settings, but wont achieve the exact tone, cause the tone is in the fingers and technique. I bet if you picked up brian mays guitar and played it you wouldn't sound like brian may.
km5658 True that, nonetheless this sounds way warmer than a standard strat, more midrange, "the tone doesn't hit the bottom", that's really my best description of how it sounds to me... Smoother attack...
I love the Sweetwater guy. Love his interviews with Johnson. Well done & really nice.
I have the solid body EJ strat and it's the ultimate guitar. A mix of vintage and modern that is truly alive. .
With pickups that hum, and no contoured heel. Not exactly the "ultimate guitar".
@@Thirdgen83 maybe some people prefer that?

Very nice..I want it in sunburst!
Fender should do more Thinline Strats.
And Squier !!
Dreaming about this guitar..😦🤑 but way above the budget..

The playing is like every velocity channel music cue with distortion guitar
They don't have the flush pickup height screws it seems

How much would a lefty model of this guitar cost?

@@gregorybeavins4182 this guitar cost 2000$ I think a lefty would be around $2700
still sounds like a normal strat. thats proof that eric's sound really comes from his own playing style and rig
HoshiHearts RetroGaming This does not at all sound like a normal strat...

km5658 i agree 100 %!
How do you turn the truss rod?
I'm guessing under the pickguard, like the original series.
Really. Really. Want.
I love sweetwater, but why do their videos seem so rehearsed?
2:49
Ridiculous that none of his signature guitars have a contoured heel.
does it matter tho?
