OMG my great-grandmother at 104 remembers this broadcast. She was 20 in 1937 and was a raging Harlow fan and so was the whole planet she says. She was in Tokyo when she heard the news in the radio from UK and US news. Then in the Japanese film news reels.

im watching The Crown with her and duh she remembers Lady Di and the iron lady in the 80s but she also remembers Winston Churchill and that whole Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson drama (her words) in the 30s.

@@EYE_GOTCHAsadly, it didn't really matter. They didn't have dialysis then or perform transplants. Her condition was 100% terminal in 1937, and her death was inevitable after kidney damage from scarlet fever as a child. Poor Jean.
