I agree with the Herbert playing nothing will stop that, I think Harbaugh is playing a ruse of misdirection. I feel he's still hurt but not in the way we think ... grade 1 ankle sprain maybe even lessor of an injury recovery time 1 - 3 weeks given we have the best in the NFL looking after this recover time 1 week with rehab and that what Herb has been doing ! I'm willing to bet he wont miss this and I bet he put up crazy numbers tomorrow !
I love that you pointed out running on 3rd&short, because for the last decade the chargers even when they have a "running game" they are one of the worst at getting 3rd&short with the run, have been that way since LT left. Their O-Line has been known for losing at the line on both run and passing plays since LT left, and even during LT would only win at the line on running plays. This is not the same O-Line we've seen from the chargers, it's already by far the best we've seen in both run and pass protection since long BEFORE LT. The pass protection even during LT days was 3rd worst in the league, at best, many times dead last. But, they were able to block for running and would rank in top 10 sometimes. This O-Line is able to block for run and pass now for the first time in at least 25-30 years. And it's always shown on those 3rd&short plays that the running game would almost always fail, pass protection had always been bad until this season. I'd been begging the Chargers to pick up O-Line in draft for literally decades, I wasn't even 100% on board with Harbaugh until I saw that first round pick of an O-Linemen, from that moment I've finally been 100% confident in this team since River's left. Even with Herbert I had not had confidence in this team, despite being born and raise in San Diego and been nothing but a Charger fan since 89 and haven't missed a single snap. I'm still worried a bit about Herbert's ability to pick the correct receiver, but at least now, it's not on his shoulders to win the game. He relied too heavily on Allen (one of the smoothest route runners I've seen) to get things done before, but now he has protection, a run game, a defense, a special teams, if he can't do it with this team, he's garbage. But, I still think he can be one of the greats if it just picks the open receiver more often. There is literally nothing left on this team/coaching staff holding him back. Again most excited I've been about the Chargers since Rivers, but this is the best team I've seen for Chargers since Marty.
