It's a rare and wonderful thing to see a man lovingly tease you about your shortcomings, then clean up after you anyway. Men of my generation didn't act this way. What a gift you two have in each other.

Barron I have an idea about the format of your book. :Turn the back cover into a second front cover and turn the book into 2 half books. One focused on the pragmatic with the appropriate beginning and cover. Then the second half opens when you turn the book around to the back and it focuses on the mental part with a different cover, table of contents and opening. Both have a transition at the end of its half that moves the person to the other half of the book they decided to read last and it would be in the middle of the physical book but at the end of the half book section.

Writing a book is hard. Nice recipe. You're right on the dandelion root. We drink the dandelion root tea because it does great hings, like help detox kidneys, liver, pancreas, and helps with digestion. Thanks for mentioning the "ibooks author". I will check that out. I have checked others and found them either very expensive or far more complicated. Most have a steep learning curve, even if you're used to learning new software regularly. Best wishes on the book. The Scamp looks great and you and Elsa seem to be doing well.

EPIC. Barron...bro...I too am trying my hand at writing a book about minimalism. It has been a major part of my life since the early 2000's and I'm just now gathering all my notes and I have a pretty unique take on the subject which I'm excited about. However, 'tis hard. I FULLY support you and I give you major props for trying to write and concentrate out in the wilderness. HIGH FIVE! YASSS! You can do it! Keep writing!

Just came to this channel couple weeks ago and love it!! I know this is an older video but if barron is stikl making his book... Id like to say, I think he should make it in the way that feels right and fulfilling to him. The right people will find it, read it, love it and help plant the seed in others that are maybe more "closed minded" so to speak. More and more people are waking up every single day! 💜 blessings to you guys and your sweet pup Kamp!

Hi! All the conceptual content you mentioned wanting to write about sounds fascinating. My favorite way to learn from a book is by a solid explanation of a concept using research and what the writer knows about the topic from other writers , plus a living example from the writer’s life ( which often focuses on the mental side of things which make the concepts livable and relatable). The “how-to’s” flow nicely from there. Just one reader’s point of view:-) Thanks for asking your viewers to support your process👏🏼

Barron, I'm a weekend warrior with a mortgage and a municipal job who has stumbled onto this channel while searching for ideas to create a weekend escape pod to help my 3 month old daughter stretch her legs and mind in a few years. I had the urge to live in a similar way you do, but couldn't seem to make the financial independence and companionship pieces of the puzzle fit together. After watching a few videos from this channel, I'm struck at how organized the two of you are. Maybe nomadic lifestyle requires a level of organization that we civilized potatoes may be losing to convenience and LCD overload. It seems like attention spans have shrunk over the last decade. I'm glad you are making it work, and I look forward to reading a book-but not one about camping, homelessness, or bushcraft. You are not the only people who think civilization may be odd! I am constantly curious about our odd demands for activities like inverse labor camps called cross fit, about humanity's lost nomadic ancestors before Natufians found wheat and stayed put, and about hiding Bigfoot too. Archeologists can tell us about the physical details of prehistoric people, but the mentality of the nomad is largely forgotten about and has largely escaped historical record....yet it is still bound in our DNA.

What if you started each chapter with a practical lesson learned. Say the keeping food cool without ice. Little lesson in evaporation, maybe connect to pre refrigeration days. Then segue into a personal more esoteric life lesson you have learned. (Keeping “cool” (temperament) living in a small space with another person & dog. Maybe? Just a thought. New sub - good stuff here. Thanks.

  • @eca2641
    @eca2641 6 лет назад +14

1.) Literally (formal definition) everything Barron listed that he thought would NOT be riveting in his book is precisely what intrigues me currently. In and out of nomadic life but, I'll be honest and say I've never read nor looked for any form of content that describes those things inside nomadic life...and now I wanna. Separate from, those are things I've been attracted to and educating myself on simultaneous to being attracted to and educating myself on nomadic living. Certainly they connect for me, in theory. I'm taking, what is considered by everyone I've spoken to about our project, a gigantic leap in a gigantic and exciting direction (and frightening) and it's something that seems a last and incredibly fitting key to all of those other things I've been searching for, if that makes sense. I've been speed walking all around trying to fill these unnamed and untamed desires for fulfillment ie: learning, learning TO learn (big one) and spiritual (for lack of any other word after only an hour of sleep) connectedness, as is. When this idea of becoming nomadic and sluffing off this tacky baggage seemingly produced by the society I've been exposed to and traveling throughout (and so with my children) revealed itself to me, it all fit together. Granted, this is my assumption and what it feels like 9 days before I even see our bus parked next to my house let alone building it and living that adventure but, it's the strongest thing I've felt in a very long time. So, if you have the capacity and experience to share those things in a bundle, I'm 100% reading that material. -I can't remember my #2) cuz I'm beyond exhausted but, if I haven't commented before (this might be odd) I was moved when I saw the two of you meditating together (in a past video...and then Elsa sneezed. 😅) Anyway... That's just me. I do feel we're in a pretty big shift, currently. People are wanting more vision and places to explore and a lot of that seems based in simpler, older, purer direction, direction that leads to self improvement, empowerment and true, human, celestial connectedness and community, regardless of where a person is physically set. These are the things I want my children and I to experience together now. -I feel like I'm trolling off so 😳 that's my two cents.

Ideas for the internal layout of Barron's book. Make a list of the how to's and then the mental topics. See if some of these topics fit well or flow together naturally. Then in the chapters list the how to's and then the mental topics. It gives the instant hit of dopamine to keep the reader in for the full subject and they will end note on your wisdom you have gleaned on these subjects. Then you can feel it out and tweak until you are happy with the state of your current progress on your book. Good luck!

Great video! Def want to see more Barron videos. Writing a book is definitely hard. I wrote a steamy romance novel and self-published it. It took me 10 years to finish it. But I finally did. Haven't sold but a couple of copies to friends. But then again I haven't tried marketing it. You'll get there - just keep plugging away at it. Glad that Barron is making videos.
Hang in there with the formation of your book and just trust the impulses and inner guidance that you get on this creative journey of yours.
Maybe you could feature short bits of your philosophy, Iike an intro or a snippet then add your how to's.
or a page before you present your how to feature. Just a thought. Sample below.
"Happiness is the new rich. Inner peace is the new success. Health is the new wealth. Kindness is the new cool."
    Chapter One
I don't know the author but I love that quote. I thought it would make a nice sample. Best of luck with the book!

Balance is a life long quest Barron, so do yourself a favour and get a larger hut to keep the happy learning active and expanding. Can't wait to read the book!
I think you should put the chapters in an order that makes sense to you; whether it be more "chronological" in the sense of when you really made these things a part of your daily life; or conceptual in putting similar ideas together. Or if you're worried about losing people's attention/interest, maybe alternate between the practical chapters and the mental chapters.
Just spitballing a few ideas. But I know lots people (myself included) will read the book regardless of the order of chapters. Keep on keeping on.

Barron did great! I love hearing his perspective, and his voice is super calming. On notes about the book I definitely understand how those key fundamentals can be less easy to read and input so I think finding a way to slip them into the more easy fun chapters is better than leaving them to be a whole weighted part of the book. Sometimes we have to be spoonfed, not given a whole plate.

One of the reasons you two are more engaging is that you clearly have a philosophical &/or spiritual approach to living. How-to is great but without the other it's just facts. Living is not facts alone. Who you are and how you think is a very important part of what you have to say. Lead with a little of it and pepper it throughout. That's my 2 cents.

Thats funny Baron. Beer for survival. Your downlow (?) attitude or sense of humor is funny. There is more to you than meets the eye. DEFINITELY. Keep on fighting the good fight.

Hey girl. I felt the need to comment & that is something I literally never do. I’ve been watching your videos casually for the last few weeks & they’ve been really helpful because I’m in engineering school & my significant other is in law school & we haven’t been able to spend a lot of time outside lately. When I was younger, I backpacked across Colorado on the Colorado Trail, so the outdoors truly holds a dear place in my heart. You have a very kind soul, which I really identify with, but I know from personal experience that people take advantage of that. I’m not an expert or anything, but from what I’ve seen... Baron really worries me. He’s in a negative & toxic mindset that seems to be directed at you a lot. I feel like he projects his problems onto you & that’s not fair. Blaming, mean comments, pointing out your flaws. All of that is unacceptable. As a handsome computer programmer from Seattle, he probably hasn’t had a lot of people check him, but he probably needs it. Sometimes you need to be knocked down a peg or two, to appreciate things a little more & that thing should be you. You should be appreciated. I hope you read this, but if not, I hope you have the courage & strength to stand you ground a little bit more.

This one out of all 20 so far I watched is the funniest, it's hard to make me laugh but once getting the headgear Barron blew it up with his sound effects had me rolling. Not to mention the fact he reminds me of two to 3 people I know just his personality. Thanks for the laugh... :)

I’m going back and watching all these older videos since I just found you guys a few weeks ago. Barron, if you are still writing your book, don’t arrange it for the readers. Arrange it how YOU would want to read it, how YOU think it should lay out. Books are skippable for a reason. If someone wants to read it out of the order you think it should go, that’s fine. They can do that. Don’t think of what the readers want. Make your book the way the AUTHOR wants. Y’all aren’t afraid to be different. Don’t start now. ;)

I actually really like the philosophical/mental issues! We camp with our children about 2 months a year, and I love taking the experience and putting it into everyday life. I think those things are helpful for all readers. Those who are dreaming of nomad life (me) but can’t quite get there. A how-to book with these aspects would likely appeal/sell to a larger audience.

Can we get a lil snippet of what "learning to learn" looks like?? 🙏🏽 It sounds incredibly fitting for us prior to jumping into bus conversion and it would be interesting to implement something of that into our un-schooling, whatever that means to you...if that's appropriate to ask. If not, I appreciate you guys and all your content and efforts toward it regardless. Stay well🌸
