- Market Lavington is now regarded as a village but was once a bustling town with many shops and pubs. Join me as I walk around this fascinating and very historic Wiltshire village, which is 5 miles south of Devizes.

Thanks Roland always informative and a nice account of the history.
Thanks Mike. Thank you for watching. I am pleased you enjoyed it.
Ex Pat of Market Lavington loved the tour and named many of the places and buildings, 1976 moved to South Australia. Keep up the great videos
Thank you, John. It’s good to hear that you’re watching over there.
A nice walk and commentary, Roland, and most informative. I pass through Market Lavington regularly, but there was lots to learn here.
Thanks Paul. It’s an amazing place.
Thank you. I enjoyed watching your walk through 'my' village. I am the volunteer curator at the museum , so thanks for your kind words about the museum and for publicising our daily blog. There were a couple of buildings that were misidentified, so let me know if you want to know where the department store and the Neate's Brewery tap actually were! Best wishes, Sue.
Thank you, Sue.
I love our museum
Hello Roger, I think you remember my lovely mum Chick Hull? It was nice to get a glimpse of her bench near to the church in this video.
I went to school at Market Lavington Comprehensive, my dear mother started school in Easterton, her Comprehensive school was actually the library (briefly shown). The old scouts hall was where the library used to be before 2020 ( pre-Covid ).
Thank you for your comment. It’s always lovely to hear from someone who has a connection with a place I visit.
A great video and very interesting 👍
Thank you James.
An excellent video ending in The Muddle New Street where I have lived in the 1930s cottages since a child. I have certainly seen some interesting changes in that time especially since our long front gardens became a car park!
Thank you, Ellie. It’s always nice to hear from people who live where I have visited.
always funny to see something so close to home. hit them where it hurts calling them a village
Many towns have been downgraded to being called a village. Property developers love doing it. 😀
I was hoping you was going to take a right at the roundabout by the 2nd church into Fiddington Clay where I grew up. Have a lot of fond memories
Maybe another day 😀
