Not me. Seeing 62 in about a month. Now I’m kayaking , hiking, snowshoeing and camping with my bf. Planning on section hiking the Appalachian trail in about 5 years and have a few short overnighters to get used to it. Felling and cutting up dead fall trees on our property and splitting for firewood. Now I’m revamping the raised garden beds and replacing them with block so I can net them to keep out deer. Looking forward to camping across the US when my bf retires. Was divorced and raised my kids solo for 15 years then meet my bf when I was 54 and this has been the happiest part of my life. Looking forward to growing old together.
Good for you……doing what you love and that which *resonates , is always a plus! The hype and what others think/would like for you to think, should always be ignored. About 4 years ago I ran into a woman outside of her home fiddling with her bike. It caught my attention because she was older and the only way that someone would be around a bike, much less fiddling with it is because they own and ride it. I opted to ask her and she made me aware that is was her bike. Although I have not ventured out as much as she did, she amazed me at the fact that she has rode cross country in her sixties. She said that she still rides and will likely ride out with her peeps again. I was awed. Although I love motorcycles and have no problem being just as aggressive with them as I once was, I would never have the patience to do what she obviously enjoys and loves to do ……..even if she’s up in age.
@@shereviewsstuff4ya It's genetics, mostly. A little bit of it is lifestyle (and NOT getting injured in your wild younger years, because injuries WILL come back to haunt you). But it mostly boils down to genetics. And there are ample studies that prove that. That doesn't mean that people shouldn't take care of themselves, eat healthy, exercise, etc. It just means that even WITH all that, some people will struggle more than others as they age. If you're getting older and still able to do everything you want to do, everything you've always been able to do, just realize how very lucky you are (and no judgement to all the other people who didn't hit the genetics jackpot and/or are dealing with old injuries).
Not true if you've been moving all along!! I started feeling pain in my 40s after losing a job and sitting for 2 weeks straight. I put a stop to that! Keep moving!!
@Mary_O I thinkthat line had to do with the whole bladder issue thing. As far as your take on it; of course sitting around all day doing nothing g, after a while, you will be in pain. However, some of us have pain from injuries that is not helped with medication or other pain treatments. As a result, we know how important movement is, and ALSO how important NOT overdoing it is. Tgwre us a delicate balance between movement and rest that we need to respect. .knowing how far out of our comfort zone that we can push our bodies without over doing it. Because pushing ourselves just far enough keeps us mobile, but overdoing it puts us out for several days at a time. You can't assume that everyone in their 40's and beyond who can't be as active as they used to be, is that way because of sheer laziness and not taking care of themselves. You were lazy for 2 weeks. People like me are far from lazy, and yet just doing the dsilt work we do around our homes is full-time event because it takes us all day with 30 minutes here, 5 minutes there, w hours here...what used go take us a couple of hours total. And that INCLUDES the cooking, cleaning, laundry, our daily needed e er use, etc, etc. I have a family member now, who was always waaaaaay more than I ever was; and they now are experienig what I was going through many years ago...bed ridden most days....they had the same approach with me thst you have now, a one-suze-fits-all attitude. Let me tell you something g. It took me iver a de ade if my iwn determi action and God's strength and guidance (not doctors) to get moving again enough to have some kind of life. I am nowhere near as strong and active as I was a decade ago before my Injury. So, before you make a blanket statement like that to someone again; k ow who you re talking to first. I'm saying this more for YOUR sake than mine, because you never know if you will be in the same boat ir worse.there's a difference between being lazy vs knowing yourself and working with your body's challenges.
Especially if you spent the last 20-25 years doing office work😂😂 They needed to have a warning label for side effects for those jobs being hazardous at year 15.

Same now at age 41. I was feeling 50 when I was 39, then last year feeling good after getting in shape finally through yoga teacher school at 40, then this year I was too busy to do nearly as much exercise and I'm back to feeling 50. Lovely.
It isn't though. I just looked at the requirements because I'm really disabled and in incredible pain and you still have to get a doctor to say that you are in an "irreversible decline" and death is "reasonably foreseeable' in the near future. Went through all the literature just last night in fact. Not a happy camper.

I will say that as a woman, my late thirties into my forties were my most confident and bad*ss years. I retired at age 48 and nearly 7 years on, I enjoy a mostly stress free life pursuing travel and hobbies.

Since you mentioned it, what collagen do you recommend that you have seen a real difference, and how do you ingest it? I bought a powder and stirred it in water (I don't drink anything else), and I couldn't make it to 2 weeks. The taste and smell were so bad that I decided thinning skin was the better option. Help!!

When ya hit 50, you need a drawer dedicated to glasses (like Fred Sanford). Plus, forget a medicine cabinet for meds. Just dedicate an entire drawer for meds, home med test kits and devices. When I go out, I take my main 3 pairs of glasses: one for driving, one for reading, and one for my dizzy spells.

I am native american, too. My daughter got drunk in school. I made her write an apology letter to ambulance driver, school nurse, principal (asshole, but still made her write the letter to him), physicians in ER. I never let her use her privilege, even when her coach wanted to let her play, when her grades fell below a C. I loved her deeply, and even watched my grandchildren 4 nights a week when she was going to college and her husband managed a shoe store. She absolutely hates me. Her dad isn't in the picture, so she is glad to punish me😢

Get them at the dollar store, they’re the same as everywhere else they just don’t cost as much.

I just looked at the requirements because I'm really disabled and in incredible pain and you still have to get a doctor to say that you are in an "irreversible decline" and death is "reasonably foreseeable' in the near future. With each decade, you feel the changes. Being fit and healthy in your fifties is not the same as fit and healthy in your thirties. Anyone stating the opposite is lying. I will say that as a woman, my late thirties into my forties were my most confident and bad*ss years. I retired at age 48 and nearly 7 years on, I enjoy a mostly stress free life pursuing travel and hobbies.

Since you mentioned it, what collagen do you recommend that you have seen a real difference, and how do you ingest it? I bought a powder and stirred it in water (I don't drink anything else), and I couldn't make it to 2 weeks. The taste and smell were so bad that I decided thinning skin was the better option. Help!!

When ya hit 50, you need a drawer dedicated to glasses (like Fred Sanford). Plus, forget a medicine cabinet for meds. Just dedicate an entire drawer for meds, home med test kits and devices. When I go out, I take my main 3 pairs of glasses: one for driving, one for reading, and one for my dizzy spells.
Seems last month or so, maybe a bit longer, I was 40 something, early 40s, but had to double check and yes turning 61 this year. They forgot to mention that one was gonna be in my package.

That actually happened to me once. All did was sneeze and I felt my back tighten up and I ended up in bed for three days. I could barely move. I couldn’t believe that is all it took.
I am native american, too. My daughter got drunk in school. I made her write an apology letter to ambulance driver, school nurse, principal (asshole, but still made her write the letter to him), physicians in ER. I never let her use her privilege, even when her coach wanted to let her play, when her grades fell below a C. I loved her deeply, and even watched my grandchildren 4 nights a week when she was going to college and her husband managed a shoe store. She absolutely hates me. Her dad isn't in the picture, so she is glad to punish me😢
