Famous Spanish violinist, composer & conductor Pablo de Sarasate (1844-1908) originally composed this work for violin & orchestra in 1878. Based on Hungarian Gypsy melodies, Nick & Ayke display their virtuosity and passionate Gypsy/classical style in this challenging rendition by Nick Ariondo, featuring violinist extraordinaire Ayke Agus (www.aykeagus.com). Ayke Agus worked closely with the great Jascha Heifetz as pianist and violinist. Her recent book "Heifetz As I Knew Him" has become an international success. . . . Thank you to Bob Molinari and Ross Pintaudi for providing video assistance and support in this concert.

This just gave me a huge new appreciation for the accordion. BTW, I read Ms Agus' book and absolutely loved it, but this is the first time I've heard her play. Such beautiful playing from both musicians, this is spectacular.

I am One Hell of an Accordionist and composer and pianist. I can play the original Hora Staccato ( Not the watered down version most people play). Regardless: Nick is THE TRUE artist/Virtuoso bar none. I work with A certain Pianist who is THE Virtuoso in his field. ( Not Chinese). Nick's innovative use of the Bass and also at times, integrating the Right-Hand to create an incredible added enhancement...BTW: I have an Original 1971 Universal Electric 7/8 th's full Accordion. I am the only owner since 1971. She is my baby. Point is, I wonder if the Effects he obtained on Malaguena can be replicated on a Universal. I see He uses a " Rembrandt " a lot. Anyway: I see and hear Nick as even better than pretty-much any other musician. People that have never truly mastered the Accordion are clueless in two important truths.
A: It takes a much more evolved Left and right Connection between the Hemisphere's of the Brain to truly perform using the Auditory, visual and Emotional component parts necessary for his type of brilliance.
B: Learn the Accordion BEFORE you learn the piano. I personally have been close friends and taken Music theory classes with Virtuoso pianists. Every single one was afraid/intimidated by the Accordion. It does take a much different musculature and Brain/Muscle-memory to master. However: If you Master the Accordion first, the piano becomes a relatively simple adjustment. Same rule applies to the Clarinet and the SAX. I learned and played the b flat Clarinet all thru school. I picked up Tenor Sax easily by myself because Clarinet is harder than Sax. S. Shaw.
