Lovely channel! And all of this was fantastic to submerge myself into. Graduating from the Art History Detroit and unfortunately not working now the world of art, I am eternally grateful for little channels like this that make this type of educational content accessible. ♡

Thank very so much! That's a lovely comment and it's great to have people who both love art and are new to it. I also did Art History at university but now work as a journalist so this is a little escape for me too

I can't wait for episode 2! I'm sorry I didn't comment right away, I've just been doing things. I love the idea of a painting causing such an uproar, and of leading to new fashion trends. Those were the days. It's sad though, to know all the time while viewing Elisabeth's work, how Mary met her fate. The times we live in have such an effect on our work.

I know, it’s crazy! And I don’t know if you know much about the Duchess of Devonshire? The Kiera Knightly film is based on her but she was a fashionista who very politically active, and she was an early adopted of the chemise (which was still controversial). It must have been so strange being the king and queen, knowing that whatever you did would be taken the wrong way....

Looking forward to part 2: Rome hey?

Thank you! Hopefully it’ll be in the next few weeks. I’m off to Suffolk for a long weekend so I might do a vlog-style video around some National Trust places and I’m definitely planning to go to some London galleries! I really enjoy making them, it can just be quite time-consuming so it might slow down as we head into the Autumn. ☺️🍂🍁

Ah great! Would you recommend? I've not heard of it actually. The only podcast I really have tried is History of the World in 100 objects (but it's now about 10 years old) so anything you can recommend would be great

This was super interesting to hear about all these scandals she was in. Beautiful portraits, the fashion was so pretty back then with those dresses and hats with the feathers in them. 2 million for the necklace! Not sure what that would compare to nowadays in ££ but can imagine that’s a lot for back then!
