Early RUclips was shortform content. I think the upload limit was something like 5 minutes in the early days. I remember people having to get round that by creating multi-episode playlists for a single video. The people using TikTok now will grow up and TikTok will grow up with them to become more like what RUclips is like now.
It was 10 minutes for videos back when I started going on RUclips in 2009. That’s why a lot of videos would be split up in parts and it was usually titled (1/2) or whatever. That’s also back when they had the 5 star system.

I'm increasingly happy that I'm European. We don't have large tech companies ourselves, but we are allowed to get the best of both worlds (East/West) if we want. I can go to the store, buy a Huawei phone, install Tiktok on it if I wanted or even Douyin, then I change my mind and get an IPhone where I install the Epic store on it etc., you get the idea. If I was American I'd hate the idea honestly that the "beacon of freedom" can ban, censor or cripple any (foreign) company because of obscure reasons. Will other parts of the world end up more free than the US politically and economically? Time will tell.

They’re far less influential than RUclips and TikTok would fit very well into their services. They’re not big enough for the government to classify them as a monopoly since RUclips is so much larger. Spotify would make a fantastic buyer IMO since, unlike Apple, their entire business is centered around music - and so is TikTok’s business. That would also make it very easy for artists who have access to the Spotify console to run, for example, Marquee campaigns as TikTok ads.

I don't see what's wrong with Google buying TikTok. The only real social media platform they have is RUclips, and if they buy TikTok, they would be a strong competitor to Meta.
