      I will chime in here that while goats and sheep are very similar and are related, they eat differently with sheep being grazers and goats being browsers. Also the meat is very different tasting, with goat meat being a lot milder than sheep

      We have had lamb a few times and we love both goat and lamb. The sheep would actually do pretty well here since we have a lot of flat pasture. We might get a few sheep in the future, I'd want some we could also collect wool from. (Need to see if there even is a shearer for this area.) I think our friends have hair sheep but I need to ask. But yes we would have to keep them away from the goat mineral and feed!

    Thank you for showing the differences between the two kinds of meats that on the surface are very similar. I found it amazing how much of a deeper color was in the wild venison compared to the goat. But also, I am one who craves that same feeling - most of what's on our plates in the Summer and early Autumn come from our land, but we do not yet have enough to be able to say most of our meals grew here (on this property). It is a goal, though! I can say that most of our meals do usually contain something that was harvested here, though. Ah, so looking forward to Spring planting and kidding!

    I’m from Northern Alaska. We eat mostly Caribou and Reindeer. In the past few years, that has been very hard to come by. I happened to see a box of frozen goat meat at the store, so we bought it. It was cubed, the same way we cut reindeer stew meat. I made soup out of it, and it tastes exactly like reindeer. Even the fat and marrow was exactly the same. I’d use goat fat to make “Aqutuq,” or Eskimo Ice Cream.

After visiting a while one lady spoke up & said "Oh I did too until I tried the meat from a dairy goat! It is absolutely wonderful!" Several others agreed with her saying they didn't like Boer meat at all, but loved meat from a dairy wether. That is what we have decided also.. Kiko meat is just as good as dairy goat. I wonder if it's because Kiko is a dual purpose breed. I also wonder if Boer goats have been so bred-up for show that they've lost good meat quality. Just my ramblings, but I was grateful to know others felt the same way.

      @SageandStoneHomestead usually the tenderloins.
      You want to pound the meat down just like you would for swiss steak. Season salt, pepper, garlic. Dip the meat in flour, then egg batter, next roll venison in cracker crumbs. Heat skillet with about 1 inch deep of any kind of oil, like crisco, or canola. Brown on both sides until cracker crumbs are a golden brown. Once all pieces are fried...place in glass baking dish on 375 for about 40 minutes to ensure meat is cooked thoroughly.
      It's the best! And this recipe holds a place near and dear to my heart, as it belonged to my best friend who I use to hunt with. We lost her to breast cancer 4 yrs ago. She was the queen of chicken friend venison.

    For Levi: the Word of God is your only authority.
    ‭Acts‬ ‭5:29‬ ‭KJV‬
    [29] Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
    ‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:5‭-‬10‬ ‭KJV‬

[6] For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. [7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. [8] For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. [9] The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? [10] I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
