Beef only goes as far as squaring up nowadays because of what happened before. It was a regular occurrence for punches, tripping, pushing, benches clearing ,etc... before. The malice in the palace changed everything. You glance at someone funny you get a technical foul nowadays.
reason why the NBA refs jump in right away is because they don't want another "Malice at the Palace" situation.

For context the hockey one isn’t cuz they fought it’s because Sydney Crosby pushed the Flyer’s players helmet away with his stick while he was tryna get it. But from what I remember there was like 10 fights that happened in that game both teams hated each other, and they cut the clip at the fight which was the best part 😂

In boxing, pushing is not allowed. The guy against the ropes just needed space to fight back and did what he had to do just to regain control. Once he did, he stayed mindful and didn't punch the back of his opponent's head.
Yeah but should the ref not stop it any give a warning that pushing is not allowed. That the same as if in football someone hands the ball and the ref doesn’t stop and they continue
@thodorishodaj2208 yeah the ref was appalling there he let the fighter get pushed and didn't jump in to give a warning. Also the fighter who was pushed had his back facing his opponent, in boxing turning your back is a sign you want to stop fighting so the ref should've jumped in there and no allowed the pushed fighter to be hit while he wasn't facing the opponent

the issue and softness with basketball is because of how delicate their bodies actually are. what looks like a soft nudge in the stomach is huge because if he falls wrong or twists his ankle when jumping, that's their season gone.

Although basketball is a contact sport there are a lot of rules about how to correctly engage defensively. You're also taught a specific way to drop of an opposing player makes a genuine contact foul on you.
