Pete is an Elvis Presley impersonator in Las Vegas, but Pete is not like any Elvis impersonator you may have in mind. Pete is Big Elvis! At his peak, Pete tipped the scales as a 960-pound performer, but not only is Pete preternaturally talented (one fellow impersonator asserts that he has a better voice than The King himself), he also believes himself (with good reason!) to be Presley’s actual, living son.
In his new short documentary, director Paul Stone draws a riveting character portrait that is not only entertaining for its surface-level premise, but presents real pathos, showing that the man who dresses up in a famous performer’s costume every night is, in fact, an inspiring figure in his own right.
Pete Vallee, aka “Big Elvis”, is a delightful subject for a documentary subject. His story and nature draws you in-he is charistmatic, with a kind heart, and an out of the ordinary life. Inspired by his incredible voice, Stone selected Vallee as a subject for a short doc, and in doing so discovered an unexpected depth to his story that is rare in the overplayed portrait documentary genre. More than a fun snapshot of an oddball, Big Elvis sneakily becomes a very relatable narrative of a man struggling with his identity.

Stayed st the Flamingo snd could hear Big Elvis's voice coming out of the Barbary Coast Casino. One of the BEST "Elvis" voices I'd ever heard. Would alwsys go to his shows. It DID NOT mstter his size. He was great!

No tribute artist will ever capture the essence of elvis no matter how good he is, because you would have to have the DNA of elvis to get the true essence, so if Pete has that, and I hope he does, than hope springs eternal.

Got to hand it to him for making some people happy. The tone is ok but Elvis had a softness in his voice (not all deep) lots of impersonators get it wrong. Well, there is only one Elvis Presley.

I have seen Pete several times at the Barbary Coast, which had three different owners during his run there. That says a lot about him. He later moved to Harrah’s and a remained popular afternoon show.
I don’t know how he does three shows a day. The guy has stamina.

I met him with you John and he was a great guy might be my brother. If he is my brother then his father is Elvis because my father is Elvis and verified so. Just sorry to see him so big it hurts me in my heart. But however it works out Pete keep singing it helps to keep my father in front of the industry.

Not to long ago I met a lady and we had the most incredible romantic time. I thought we were going to be together forever. Then about a week later right out of the blue, she leaves me a John deer letter. So I called her up and she gave me a bunch of crap about me not listening to her enough or something, I mean I don't know I really wasn't paying attention. Its kind of sad. Its like his whole life he's just been attempting to embody the persona of the father he never had. I actually would not be surprised if he really is the son of Elvis. He did look strikingly similar when he was young and his voice is uncannily similar and we all know Elvis was sleeping around a ton. Glad he was able to lose so much weight
Nice documentary. The guy has a good voice but he’s not better than Elvis. I didn’t hear this guy sing any of Elvis power ballads like Hurt, I’ll never fall in love again, American Trilogy, what now my love ,etc.
