Off the Grid: Bahrain

Formula One. The most exclusive sport in the world. A multi-billion dollar traveling circus whose cast of characters include the greatest drivers in motorsport, celebrities and the journalists who cover it all. Its stage: the most beautiful and historic cities on Earth. Yet as elite as the paddock club appears, at heart, its one big family. NBC Sports F1 pit reporter, Will Buxton, and his producer, Jason Swales, are a part of that family and serve as our guides to take us inside the world of Formula 1 as no one has ever done before-both on and off the track. They'll explore the local culture & food, interact with the drivers, celebrities and fans who love them, and take you on an all-access ride inside the wild life of a F1 carnie.
ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
We head to Manama, Bahrain with Will Buxton & his producer, Jason Swales for preseason testing ahead of the 2014 Formula 1 season. The dynamic duo give us an exclusive look inside the Bahrain International Circuit where we sneak up to the podium and get a view of what it's like for the race winners, and chat with the former CEO of the Bahrain International Circuit, Martin Whitaker.
Then it's time to hit the capital of Manama. Will & Jason explore the souk market and take us to their favorite shawarma restaurant in all of Bahrain. Then after a long day at the track, our hosts head to the karting track for a friendly, or not so friendly, competition.
