I grew up playing this game!! I still have my huge shoebox full of pogs and slammers! Here's how myself and the kids in my neighborhood played.... 1) Choose whether you're playing for pogs or slammers 2) Choose to play for keeps or not 3) Choose nips or no nips? (nipping the edge of the very last pog with a thin slammer to flip it over instead of slamming it) 4) Choose the number of pogs or slammers being played for and put them down FACE DOWN (we played different in my hood haha) 5) One player flips a slammer in his/her hands like a coin flip and the other guesses heads or tails. If they're correct, they go first. If they're wrong, they go 2nd 6) Each player takes a slam until all pogs are won I lived in a huge apartment complex with over 300 units so this game became extremely popular in our neighborhood. All throughout elementary school myself and all the kids from the neighborhood would walk around the complex playing each other for hours on end. I started with like 20 pogs and 1 slammer and ended up with an entire shoe box of pogs and like 20 slammers. I got so good kids would refuse to play me. This game was my childhood! haha
We would stick them down on the playground or on the road outside your house no mat. If someone flipped all the pogs in one go they won your slammer too. Brilliant game
Excactly bullies made their own rules up as they went because you could tell them official rules and they wouldn't listen. Also they would pull this move where they would show you their set and they would have a small slammer to lure you in and then when you agreed and put your Pogs down, big mfer would pull out a big phat slammer that he kept hidden and slam the hell out of my Pogs and take every last one of them. That was the one and only time I played, after that I just would watch my friends and warn them and force them to agree upon a slammer they have to use. I could have typed this better but you get the gist😂.
My favorite pogs were Krome Kaps and Slugs. Krome Kaps had beautiful chrome pogs and slammers. Slugs had awesome lenticular pogs in the same type of theme as garbage pail kids. I’m very nostalgic after finding my collection I thought I sold years ago.
Awesome video! This is exactly the content I want to see. I love how you broke down and compared all of the rules variations. I also favor the facedown method as this was the way we played in 1993 before the WPF took over. Also, schoolyard tip on when you're down to 2 pogs or less... I recommend trying what we called "chipping". Try holding the edge of your slammer millimeters away from the very edge of the last cap (1 or 2 caps works best) and then quickly chip the edge and with practice you can get it nearly every time. This was widely accepted in our school and the thinner the slammer the better for this (I keep a thin chipping slammer handy for games). I quit playing in 1996 when some kid pulled that poison garbage on me (which I had never heard of in my prior 3 years of playing the game religiously). This totally ticked me off and when I found out that other people were actually playing this way I completely lost interest in the game. I feel like this killed the game for me and everyone else I knew. Anyway, thanks for sharing that wicked collection with us. More Pog content please! And happy New Year! :)
I had a bunch of thick boy aluminum slammers that were 3 - 4x thicker than traditional metal slammers. They had 2 indentations scooped out of it to properly place your index and middle fingers on it for maximum control. I won so may pogs with those things 😂
I remember this and still have my POGS in storage. I guess it never made a comeback. I wonder if it ever will? Likely not since it never had a major backing or central brand like things like Pokemon does. Either way for now I'll hold on to my POGS and its a nice look back to when I was a kid.
Poison rules: Announce your poison before the match. Regular poison: If other player flips your poison it's a loss of turn for them and reset stack. Double poison: flip a double poison and other player wins/keeps remaining pogs. Eight Ball: restack and slam again (two turns)
I didn’t know there were official rules. I just grew my collection as a kid by gambling them on the cement ground at recess. Also the shredder slammers were pawg.
I really don't know what happened to all my pog stuff from back in the day. I do remember i made a bong out of one of my pog tubes once i became a teen😂
Pogs were so fun back in 1995. They got kids socializing and playing together. When they banned them in schools, everyone went back to their anti-social selves.
I played in a Pog tournament at a local game store way back when and I definitely don't remember the rules. I got second place and won a few packs of SLAMMER WHAMMERS. At the time, there was also a Pog kiosk at the mall and that's where I got my excellent OJ Simpson themed "Don't Squeeze The Juice" slammer. Utterly ridiculous, all of it.
Loved this game. But in Australia we played one pog each both upside down on top of each other. You won by getting a pic ontop of the backside of another. We always played for keeps and my favourite were Simpson's glo caps.
I was led here all the way from a comment on TikTok I just had to see this video. I'm 39 now and I used to collect these things in the 90's. I almost forgot they existed! This really brought me back!💖💖💖
Ёкарный бабай! Если бы мне такой полный набор этих фишек со всеми прибамбасами в детстве подогнали, то я бы от радости описался, либо кукухой поехал.)))
Let me know YOUR POG RULES in the comments below!
Hey Yuri We love this video you made of POGS! How can we get in touch? We would like to send you our new POGs Hobby Box to review!

I went to the Philippines back in 2010 and was at an outdoor market. There was a booth dedicated to selling pogs 😂 yes i bought a lot of em
When I was young I never knew how to play...🤷🏻...but regardless, I still collected Pogs and Slammers because I thought they looked cool...🤘🏼💯✔️
Heck ya

Rule #1 there are no rules
Excactly bullies made their own rules up as they went because you could tell them official rules and they wouldn't listen. Sweet basement!!

Memories ❤

Yeah, I don't remember playing much. Just collecting... I feel like this came and went in a matter of months at my school, a year tops
I was probably in 3rd or 4th grade so maybe if you were a bit older then it was taken more seriously
Poison and eight ball pogs got the game confusing when other kids made up the rules using them. 😮
Rules up front let’s go!!!
Sha-bam lol you know it's the 90s when you have the self made sound effects 😂❤🎉
Looking forward to the next video in the series of Pogs!
I really don't know what happened to all my pog stuff from back in the day. I do remember i made a bong out of one of my pog tubes once i became a teen😂
I miss the 90’s
From what i understand American tournement rules say hold the slammer between the index and middle finger, no thumbs
Pogs were so fun back in 1995. They got kids socializing and playing together. When they banned them in schools, everyone went back to their anti-social selves.
Good memories!
Its a bummer that the Elementary schools banned it.
I wasted so much money on that game in the 90s, I mean my mom did I was to young to have a job
I got a few pogs from my dad and I got a few original milk bottle caps but I have no slammers
Can staple pigs together to make or cannot
Thought the ones that were face up you won
I’m just reading the rules that are in the book
Stack 10 5 from each player face up decide if it is play keeps or not
Yeye
Is this how a lot of people’s poker addiction started? planted the seeds at a young age?
I have Pogs 107
Pog
I remember pogs.....zzzzzzzz
Cool🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Can I have one please
Is it free
The game is so dumb it kinda make me autistically angry
Im actually getting mad watching this video.
@@Debate_Pervert because you threw out all your pogs and you want mine

Ridiculous but amazing
I bet the prices of the oj pogs you had got slashed repeatedly after his arrest
Thanks for the EDUCATION 🙏 .. that was cool ✌️
We use to play slammer vs slammer whoever flipped the other person's slammer wins and you get to keep their slammer.
Wildddddddddd!!!!
POGS ARE THE SH*T!!!!!!!! Great Vid, you get a sub!
Ditto

Watching this entire video again. Wish we could play a game! haha
I’ll play you for keeps
@@YuriTereshyn always for keeps
The chupa chups slammer was the best slammer i had. Also had a medusa cap which scared the living fuck out of me.
i just picked up on some retro kaps looking to play this again with friends and family.
POGGGGG! CLASSIC 90'S THIS RIGHT HERE!!!
Are Pongs worth anything? If so which ones are worth colleting and any worth money? Thanks for the great video!
They are not! That’s the best part!
@@YuriTereshyn Too bad... Would be fun searching for them at yard sales etc.
That Casino Night thing is wild. They were making official POG stuff in 2006? I had no idea.
