Honestly Ashley and The Starlights would have been such a spin-off especially if they focus on a grown up Ashley and her band following in the footsteps of the holograms and learning how to be stars as well maybe even have their own rivalry with a rival group
That kinda was the plan. Not a spin off show but they were going to make the starlight girls grow up and follow the foot steps of Jem & the holograms with Ashley taking the mantel of Jem as being the lead singer and the leader of the group and band. They were also going to bring a rival group of girls that take the misfits role. This was stated by christy marx the creator and head writer of the show. But unfortunately the show was canceled before they had a chance to do any of it.

For an example, did you know that in the next season if the show didn't get cancelled riot was going to fall in love with rapute? Which is something no one would have saw coming since he was head over heel over jem. The idea was that they were going to bring in another band but with all guys and rapute was going to fall for the lead singer of the band just like how riot was in love with jem but he would finally notice rapute and fight for her love with the lead singer of this guy band . It's one of many ideas Christy had and was planning on doing but unfortunately the show was cancelled so we never got to see it.
The sad thing is if that horrible Jem movie hadn't ended up being a disaster maybe this amazing show could have had a chance at a reboot for a new generation.
