when I clean the needles I put them in a empty jam jar, add surgical spirit & a few drops of gun oil, put the lid on and let them soak over night with the occasional shake. it's amazing how much crud comes off those needles. these are wonderful machines. even if the electronics are not working they make wonderful ribs and manual stitch patterns. if you are going to replace the brake spring. that is also a great time to clean the needles. much easier to remove & replace them with the spring taken out.
if I remember right all the machines are the same - except the 'suitcase' models. only real difference is how the electronic pattern device connects (peg board, electronic pg board, light scanner, electronic controller or the triangle electronic controller) but the beds & carriages should all be the same.
Thank you, this is good advise. I‘ll try this cleaning method next time. … and yes, I like that singer a lot. I have nothing to compare against (other than an lk150) but they can be relatively inexpensive and work great.
This is so helpful as i am repairing my grandmothers old Singer machine. it looks similar to yours but i think its older. may i ask where to buy the retaining spring? i think mine is broken :C
Thanks for reaching I got the needle brake spring here store.dknits.com/pd-superba-brake-spring.cfm Good luck with your repairs. I hope you enjoy working on these as much as I do.
Sorry, I don’t know if you can do English rib on a singer double bed machine. You can do fisherman rib and I was told they look very similar (like twins). I’m doing a fisherman rib in my video „I learned to rib“ . It creates a very thick texture and would be nice for sweaters or jackets.
I am not sure if I understand the automatic translation. For the needle cleaning I used a singer machine oil. For the grooves where the needles are running I used tweezers like this www.ebay.com/itm/6Pcs-ESD-Anti-static-Tweezers-Set-Maintenance-Repair-Stainless-Steel-Tools-Kit/133045792948?hash=item1efa25b0b4:g:uFsAAOSwPWtcJbq3&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAA4JEKzPHqqbUt3tjn2FN1SeoNGifQd5+L5e+juLciKv/2LYmEMFCFozmxAow2gCZ9N/xEBfdUSVHElCUW5H8dwC0FEp8sTo797kCHni0xLMFMDAKgfcUMvSEYx8/9QzV8/mrKOXkSzAMvWG7Uk+Sid+z33Q7Y1oSHCCuGiyzzrop29gbhyICzx0GL0WOn5Z/p2j3nSypnLEj6wBeIcoVl2ZZ6m5/Uu3x3dHsMZ4edbEZEs7LaV0YXbQPrC0oFfYT4vTlPy1M7XN2KixO2ijBQSK0q9ZqUdgLkz4p+/XMHwnYy%7Ctkp:BFBMppi30blh&pageci=391ea3d4-9dfa-45a0-9c7c-07ffe6e36617&redirect=mobile
Hello Svetlana, I don‘t know how the memomatic electronics push the needles out. I only know how the little knobs and levers of the carriage work without the memo. If your problem is with the carriage please let me know … otherwise sorry I couldn’t help
@@svetlanarudi. … I am not sure if you still get this message by now. I also bought a memomatic (one with red pins). The red light comes on but it only works sometimes. I will make a video once I understand how to continuously make it work. If your red light does not light up, it might just be the fuse or the transformer which transforms from 240V~ to around 18v~

That was a battered machine!
Oh yes but after cleaning it still worked nicely. Meanwhile it’s my spare machine because I got a nice one in good condition
