- Lt. General Hal Moore - February 13, 1922 - February 10, 2017.
Retired Lt. Gen. Hal Moore passed away late Friday night. He would have turned 95 years old on Monday, and the Army hero known for saving most of his men and surviving a fierce standoff despite being outnumbered 10-to-1 in the first major battle of the Vietnam War proved to be a ferocious fighter to the very end.
Moore is considered a national hero for his actions at the Battle of Ia Drang, where he saved the lives of most of his men despite being heavily outnumbered by North Vietnamese forces. At the time, he was Lieutenant Colonel in command of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment.
Moore was portrayed by Mel Gibson in the film, "We Were Soldiers." A clip from that movie is included in this tribute.

RIP General hal moore
God Bless you brave warrior❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
American fighting man's man a real American hero .Stood up and went to bat for his men..
What a great soldier, leader, and true patriot. One thing I've never understood when watching Vietnam footage. We all know the NVA and Vietcong fought the Americans close as to neutralize their arty and close air support. After watching thousands of hours of footage I've never actually seen an enemy soldier being shot at. Or a clip that shows the enemies engaging each other. We see this often in WW2 and 1 footage though.
RIP Mr. Moore. You're with your men again, and those VC became FUBAR...
R.I.P. Hal
This man should be hailed like Garyowens. A Maverick an air cavalry
The 7th Cavalry’s most decorated and charismatic army officers Lt.Colonel Custer & Lt.Colonel Moore
I love this man I admire his strategic ways to conquer the enemy I myself believe if I was alive at that time I could have helped him even more for our military to be even more victorios!
Custer was a pussy
True American 🇺🇸 Hero!!!
Praise the hero of American soldiers who have died in the Vietnam War until the Iraq War and Afghanistan
Until Iraq and Afghanistan?
Moore's statement was genuine in serving the country and helping the Vietnamese people. At least he and the military actually cared rather than those hippies that offered nothing back then as their sorry legacy today.
Seems like a tough dude
in the movie he was a lt col. here he is a full colonel.
The movie time in history was previous to the later months and years that these interviews depict after he was promoted.
Thank you Americans heroes
Being a Kentuckian paying his respect to another Kentuckian, it is with a great honor and privilege that I am blood related to LTG Harold Gregory "Hal" Moore, Jr. He and I are 13th blood cousins 5 times removed on my father's family side and LTG Moore's mother family side.
Whats ur point 1 or 2nd only count

This soldier Is the real super soldier Ass kicker all Vietnamese rebels got there pants pissed when they meet this man salute you sir rest in peace
Proud to be a Kentuckian....
Tru America hero 🇺🇸 rip
A leader that thinks ahead of the enemy. The military now somehow doesn't understand that concept.
There are no more officers like this man.....
meanwhile,Bernie Sanders and his cronies we're doing what?
