Hogan in his later years had veto power over the results of any of his matches, as per his contracts with the promoters. That is a conflict of interest. Hopefully, no major promotion will ever allow that to happen again with the wrestlers that they hire.
One of the greatest in ring talents to ever step in the square circle. A Shame that he wasn’t able to become a Heavyweight Champion. But he was one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time.
1st time I watch wrestling was Summerslam 91 and I would re watch over and over Bret vs Mr Perfect because it was that good. you knew you were watching two of the greatest when even a headlock was made to feel awesome.
Man I miss this man. He was the perfect guy that left way too.soon. He gave a lot to the business..putting asses in seats..and putting people over for this business. Its too bad he passed away but that lifestyle will catch up with anyone sooner or later..and it did with a lot of those guys from back then. Im just glad I got to see them all entertaining ppl that left too soon. His son deserved better..and its too bad he isnt somewhere entertaining us all. Rip curt
Its been said many times whenever curt was in the building you knew you had to step up your A-game in order to keep up with him. His matches were simply...perfect. Although he was awa champ, its a Damn shame he was never wwe or wcw champ.he was ahead of his time. Hennig is truley a legend and one of the greatest in ring performers of all time.
I get what you're saying but most of the guys thought of it as a night off to wrestle Curt because he would never hurt you and always made you look your best...even if you were the shits.
It’s a shame that some highlights from Curt Hennig’s match with Nick Bockwinkel for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1986, that went to a 60-minute time limit draw, was not included in this career highlight reel. In my opinion, it was “The Match Of The 20th Century”.
One of the best I ever saw growing up Really sickens me he didnt win the Royal Rumble in 90, he or Ravishing Rick Rude were the only ones I would have accepted back then MR Perfect the man exuded the character, we felt it coming thru our screens! On some yo this guy has no off switch!! I damn near cried in 2003 when he came back for the rumble Always wanted to see him win ww(f) e title
I think it’s great wade boggs inducted mr perfect because of their long friendship! They were hunting and Boggs messed up his ankle or knee and couldn’t walk, so henning picked him up and carried him over 2 miles out of the woods! That’s a true/strong friend!
Curt saved his life actually.. Boggs was caught in a bear trap Curt carried him out in time an got him to hospital Boggs could have bled out or lost his lower leg
Great video, but one thing missing: after his first run in the WWF, he went to the Pacific Northwest and improved his skills and became a better wrestler and was the champion in that territory. The AWA went down because of their screwy decisions. He was a great wrestler, just sad he resorted to cocaine and the roids.
It's a shame. If I had to take a guess I would think personal habits and a nagging back injury at the time prevented a run with the strap. WWF was being dragged through the mud over rampant steroid use and Vince needed a whiter than white guy at the top to help shift the public perception. H
Not that I’m aware of. Would definitely watch if they are out there. Angle and Perfect faced off in the 2002 royal rumble. Hennig also wrestled Mysterio as part of the West Texas Rednecks stable when they battled No Limit Soldiers at Bash at the Beach 1999. No singles matches though. H
Great tribute. No doubt that first back injury stopped his career in its tracks in the WWF. Had he been healthy, I have no doubt he would have been in a top spot for the WWF strap in the '96-2000 timeframe. Instead, WCW squandered the opportunity when they had Curt turn on the horsemen in Winston-Salem, NC and he became another faceless member of the NWO. I think this was a key turning point when fans started to switch over from a declining WCW to RAW for good.
Great wrestler, great competitor, but taken far too soon? Nah, anytime you mix steroids and recreational drugs, you're going to be checking out of time sooner than expected. I read somewhere that Terry Taylor was originally offered The Mr. Perfect gimmick but turned it down, Curt was PERFECT for the role.
I'd be willing to bet Curt ACTUALLY got most those hole in ones/shot on first try Iol hey he was truly a gift to the vignette production crew 😂 I've heard/read many say his "Perfect" character was hardly a "gimmick"
The guy oozed athleticism, the smoothest wrestler I have ever seen.
RIP Curt . a great wrestler i always enjoyed his matches.
Curt Henning & Brett Heart in the gardens the best match I've ever seen.😊😊. Rip
My favorite wrestler as a kid. Rest easy Mr. Perfect
His superplex on Giant in WCW is one of the top 5 greatest moments ever.
Curt Henning was a GREAT wrestler. Great in ring performer
For sure one of the greatest of all time. H
He may be my all time favorite. Miss him like...perfect.
One of the greatest to ever do it. Shame he never got to be world champion. RIP
Thank Hogan for that. Perfect was scheduled to win the 91 rumble but Hogan changed the storyline and he won the rumble.
Hogan in his later years had veto power over the results of any of his matches, as per his contracts with the promoters.
That is a conflict of interest. Hopefully, no major promotion will ever allow that to happen again with the wrestlers that they hire.
CURT WAS ALWAYS IN PERFECT SHAPE EVEN WHEN HE DIED💯💪
Minnesota is truly the U.S capital for technical wrestlers
Kurt was a great wrestler. So much to watch and easy to root against.
A very talented man. Tragic he was taken so soon. H
HE SURE WAS!! It was "Curt" by the way!!
One of the true all time greats
I don't think Curt was ever the same when Rick Rude passed away years earlier
Agree. It really affected him as they were very close. H
He was my favorite back in the day. No matter who he wrestled, he ALWAYS made it watchable.
A true master of his craft. Entertaining to watch in whatever role he was put in. H
"Nobody beats Curt Hennig. NOBODY"
Of all my favorite wrestlers* that have passed on, I undoubtedly miss Curt the most. 😢
Agreed.
Him and Bret for the ic title in 91 was perfection. He was injured on top of it.
One of the best matches I have ever watched. I’ve seen it several times and always appreciate something new. H
One of the greatest in ring talents to ever step in the square circle. A Shame that he wasn’t able to become a Heavyweight Champion. But he was one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time.
For sure brought a new air of prestige to the IC Belt. H
When I was a child I loved Mr.Perfect. He was so good. I hate that he died so young.
It was such a shame. He had so much left to give to the industry. H
1st time I watch wrestling was Summerslam 91 and I would re watch over and over Bret vs Mr Perfect because it was that good. you knew you were watching two of the greatest when even a headlock was made to feel awesome.
Two of the GOAT's making magic happen. H
Man I miss this man. He was the perfect guy that left way too.soon. He gave a lot to the business..putting asses in seats..and putting people over for this business. His son deserved better..and its too bad he isnt somewhere entertaining us all. Rip curt
Well said. H

Guy was straight up the full package 📦 he had looks, charisma, great on the mic, could throw down, a great technician and ring general. H
@@hoganschoice I believe he was also one of the earliest opponents to beat a young Brock lesnar.
@@toma.4808He was the one who discovered Brock

1 more run with the IC belt would ve been good as well. RIP
One of the best I ever saw growing up
Really sickens me he didnt win the Royal Rumble in 90, he or Ravishing Rick Rude were the only ones I would have accepted back then
MR Perfect the man exuded the character, we felt it coming thru our screens! On some yo this guy has no off switch!! I damn near cried in 2003 when he came back for the rumble

My favorite wrestler of all time👌🏼
One the greatest, can you imagine the pressure of having the name of Mr Perfect and knowing you couldn't eff up a move
Indeed. Fortunately his was so talented he you couldn't image him going by any other name. H
This and the attitude era is why i cant watch wrestling today....it really was Perfect and im glad i lived it
Great job on this my man! Fun watch, very well put together!!!👏
Thanks bro! Glad you enjoyed. H
This was really nice to watch. Definitely a guy who had "it", like Eddie Guerrero. Didn't matter if they had a belt or not, they were must watch.
🙏 He was special. Lauded by so many of his peers… there are a select few who are spoken of in such high regard. H
Mr. Perfect will always be my number 1! Thanks for the great video! 👍👍
Thanks for watching. H
A great talent sadly drugs took over due to injuries but back then the WWF didn't take sero
You said the character Mr Perfect
It wasnt a character, he was so great. The rap is crap was great and i agreed. He is one of the greatest ever
Great job this short bio was informative and turned me into a new fan of Hennings.
Glad you enjoyed! H
awesome video man, Henning was a talent and one of my favs, sucks he died so young, RIP Legend.
Thank you! Such a talent and one of my favourites too. H
I think it’s great wade boggs inducted mr perfect because of their long friendship! They were hunting and Boggs messed up his ankle or knee and couldn’t walk, so henning picked him up and carried him over 2 miles out of the woods! That’s a true/strong friend!
Wow! I didn't know about that. What a great guy! H
Curt saved his life actually..
Boggs was caught in a bear trap
Curt carried him out in time an got him to hospital
Boggs could have bled out or lost his lower leg

The AWA went down because of their screwy decisions. He was a great wrestler, just sad he resorted to cocaine and the roids.
Absolutely perfect! 👌
They should have given him the strap when he had the feud with Flair. Why they gave it to Hart and not him I have not clue.
It's a shame. If I had to take a guess I would think personal habits and a nagging back injury at the time prevented a run with the strap. WWF was being dragged through the mud over rampant steroid use and Vince needed a whiter than white guy at the top to help shift the public perception. H
He was not the same as he once was
Didn't appreciate his skills back then. His arrogance and cockiness overshadowed it for me.
Thats exactly it!
He was doing his job, making people hate his arrogance and wanting to see him lose
I would love to see any full matches he had with Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, & Kurt Angle.
Are there any?
Not that I’m aware of. Would definitely watch if they are out there. Angle and Perfect faced off in the 2002 royal rumble. Hennig also wrestled Mysterio as part of the West Texas Rednecks stable when they battled No Limit Soldiers at Bash at the Beach 1999. No singles matches though. H
Sorry Kurt was a great talent sadly drugs took over due to injuries and sadly an untimely death
3:15 I need a sequin tuxedo! Nothing else matters. 🤨
good sense of humour too lol so funny watching him be so arrogant. He was a great wrestler but a coke addict as we all know.
Agree. Bar the back injury there few other guys on the roster that were as all rounded as he was. H
I thought he was a great fit for the NWO. They just didn't use him right or enough.
URBAN LEGEND
I'd be willing to bet Curt ACTUALLY got most those hole in ones/shot on first try Iol hey he was truly a gift to the vignette production crew 😂 I've heard/read many say his "Perfect" character was hardly a "gimmick"
He didn't have to. Die
The one common denominator that led to the early deaths of most of these talented young wrestlers is drugs.
I remember how Mr. Perfect started as a jobber😂😂😂😂😂😂. He was Ric Flair executive cheat as the late Gorilla Monsoon😂😂😂😂
He did not fit in well in wcw.
To be honest after he left wwf for wcw he was never the same wrestler. He was totally overated
HenniNg
Too much coke
What? Rap is crap. 😮
According to The West Texas Rednecks, yes. H
He really was perfect there should of been a match between mr perfect and Kurt angle
It would have been great. Closest we got was the Royal Rumble 2002. It was just a taste though. H
That's what I wanted to see. Too bad he didn't get a proper feud when he returned, as he did look great in the '02 Rumble.
Mr Perfect defeated Brock Lesnar..😂😂😂
