Yeah Tatsunoko vs Capcom is the forgotten game. Unfortunate too because it was a great game in a lot of ways but they put it on the Wii and most of the FGC just said: "Nope" when they heard that.
I’d say it’s forgotten in the sense that no new fighting game that have been released since fighting jam have been a spiritual succession to CvS2. Sure it’s considered as one of the greats (it’s my favorite game). But fighting game developers 100 times out of 100 would make another Marvel clone rather than make a CvS2 successor,
The Ken vs Terry intro is still _the_ best intro in the history of fighting games: -Between 2 characters that share not only looks, but personality and reason to fight (cause it's fun!). -No lore needed nor hidden meanings. While lore heavy intros can be (and are) cool, anybody can understand the intro at face value. -Short with minimal dialogue, lets the actions speak for themselves. -Like the famous Ryu vs Ken fist bump, it portrays sportmanship and respect. Albeit in a more casual way. Second place goes to Shingo vs Kyo in KoF 98'. Shit's just funny. This is an absolute truth of the universe and shall not be discussed. Not really overpowered but fun fact: taunts can actually be used as a strategy against K groove players. Taunt when their gauge is almost filled with meter to let them automatically rage then take them out. They'll lose their meter and have to build it again with their next character or hold that L if it was their last.
My korean room mate and i played this non stop during my early college years on Xbox. Good times! Solo Haohmaru with the samsho k groove for trolling was always fun.

Facts. This is the reason the DC is still one of my favorite consoles. Capcom (and to a lesser extent, Namco [Soul Calibur]) snapped from jump with arcade-perfect ports.
CvS2 has a fighting engine similar to a mashup between SF3 and SFA3... MvC2 is a complete dif system like a suped up version of the Marvel games w their tag ins, super duper jumps, crazy infinites and ultra super moves... I like them both but I dont equate them at all... depends on what you're interested in playing....
Desk shows very, VERY high level Capcom vs SNK videos along with other videos on other fighting games like the fact you can... Wait for it... CANCEL SUPERS INTO SPECIALS
N is a great groove, but it had didn't have anything "cheap." It had all the sub-systems and a solid meter, but A, K, C all had something that made them just a little bit more cheap/OP. That being said, hard to go wrong with N. It's more than good enough to hang with the rest.

This game is super interesting because not only Capcom characters play differently than the SNK ones, each franchise has still 3 different Grooves to pick. This amount of variety is awesome and at the same time is keeping both franchises identity
I remember playing this game with my brother. We were facing Shin Akuma and we knew we had to beat him in order to unlock him, but we just KEPT LOSING. We ended up wining in a match we shouldnt have won. We were playing DAN on a custom groove. (The game lets u create ur own grooves) The thing is, we were using the second customizable groove, one with nothing inside. That means no roll, no air guard, no normal-special chain, no dash, no running, NO SUPERS. NOTHING. AND SOMEHOW WE WON. We still laugh at it. It was pure luck.
What I love about CvS2 is that is no only the "vs" characters ... Is literally facing their iconic mechanics. Porn for fighting games fanatics. God tier game.
If you want U can also play Atomiswave games on the flycast emulator. U can play KOF 11 online as well with rollback. It isnt a traditional 3v3 teambase fg with elimination rounds it actually has tag. And its basically one of greatest and the most fun unique and satysfying tag system youll ever get behind.

CVS2 definitely had a resurgence in popularity since the pandemic. It’s very content rich with countless team/groove/ratio combinations to play with. CVS2 makes MVC2 feel so loose and chaotic because it’s just a head up 1v1 fighter with grounded mechanics. I kinda wish they got some deeper cuts for the roster like Falcon(Power Stone), Batsu(Rival Schools), Zero(Megaman) and Kaede(Last Blade). Regardless it’s a good game!

Given that SNK is known mainly for their fighting games, it’s easy to see why this roster looks as it does. This game is meant to be a crossover for fighting game characters. MvC leans more heavily towards franchise icons, but this game was designed as the rightful battlegrounds for these characters. That’s why this game plays more familiarly to King of Fighters and Street Fighter.
For me this along with guilty gear 2 reloaded are my fav fighting games of all time. Just so many awesome memories playing with friends thru the nights

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I still prefer the original Cap V SNK. Sure the balance is a bit wack (even with the Pro version), but the roster is tighter, the design is slicker, and the tunes are better. Plus that final theme when it's down to the 1-on-1? Perf. On the other hand, I DARE anyone to play SVC Chaos at any length. Woof.
Yeah, I've always loved how all of CvS1's backgrounds had SNK-style intros (the highway one in particular was dope) & a number of them combined locations from both companies' franchises i.e. the Kyokugen Dojo being across street from the 'Street/Convenience store stage from SF Alpha 1 & the (Neo Geo Land?) arcade being on Dudley's stage from SF3 NG.
But yea the roll cancelling is really handy for avoiding projectiles or certain mixups idk if it can. And the groove system does offer a pretty rich variety when it comes to universal movement options and combo variety having the staple mechanics from their respected franchises from both Capcom and SNK respectively absolutely making it the greatest FG of all time. It offers a nice level of strategic measures when choosing you're teams to whom which are more suited to be point middle or anchor character in which ever order you want.

His roster videos are really hype, I honestly don't know why it's not on eventhubs or any other fighting game specialized website, haha

I bought this game in my college days when I super obsessed with fighting games and their art. I spent one Saturday going through and even managed to beat Shin Akuma. *sigh* Next was Blood Rugal, or as I call him: God Rugal. I’ve never been able to beat him and am still salty to this day.
The reason free MVC2 started trending is because it's 200 dollars. Am I the only one who wasn't asking for rollback. I just want it remastered on modern consoles. Cvs2 is 40 dollars physically. Cheaper than a normal game.
I never played this one. I had the first one though on my Dreamcast and played the hell out of it. First game I remember implementing a point system in its own roster. Huh…now that I think about it, I had a ton of fighting games on that system lol People hated on it, but I still love Plasma Sword. It was like a sci-fi take on a Battle Arena Toshinden game and I loved it.

I find it so, SO hard to do combos in here, but nonetheless, I like it a lot.
This game is very strict with inputs combinations. There are a few shortcuts but for the most part the game is looking for you to be really clean.

Not gone lie if they make another one. It can't be like Marvel capcom 3 and here why . The 2d version just simply better. Its more fun and more in tune with its roots.
If it wasn't for this video, I don't know how many more years I would have gone without knowing the Grooves were CAP and SNK. It was there the entire time.
I got this game recently this year for my PS2 that I bought back a year ago but sadly the disc doesnt work for some reason I looked forward to playin the damn game.

Capcom vs SNK 2 is one of my all time favourite fighting games. :)
