I’m a fairly new ham and I have not like my systematically issued call sign since I received it. That’s why I went ahead and applied for a vanity call!
If I had realized how much of a pain it was to change everything over to a new call I don't think I would have done it. The certificate for LOTW, emails attached to that call such as RT Systems and warrantees, every setting for FT8 and APRS, Wires X, DStar, I lost all of my stuff for POTA and my QRZ awards are miniscule compared to what I had. the list goes on and on. It honestly has made me not play radio as much because of the difficulties. Just when you think you have all of it changed you power up a radio or something and your old call shows up. Knowing what I know now, I would have never done it. W2GPR
I got my Novice license in 3-Land and had been inactive over 30 years until retirement. I've been in Texas over 20 years, so when I got back on the air I got tired explaining my 3 call or having the debate whether I should indicate /5. So when I got my Extra license I thought it time to get a 5 call and end the confusion. But I do understand the attachment.
Hi Michael, I had my previous call WB3BJU since 1978 and would have kept it longer, but I had about 700 QSL cards that were water damaged. I decided, since I would need to order new QSL cards, might as well change my call to a 2X1 for easier future CW contacts. Stay safe. 73 WJ3U
If you change it early no big deal. If you change it late.....new qsl cards, new LOTW, new Echolink, new fl digi.........it's a pain.....I'll never do it again.
I just upgraded to Extra can I'm considering changing my call sign except my wife this made me all kinds of personalized stuff what's my current call sign but after working my first contest this weekend I realize that kj7 hhd is a lot to spit out when you're trying to bust a pile-up not sure what I should do
I changed my call sign to honor my favorite pet dog. I didn’t think about a call sign that was easy to comprehend and send when in CW mode. However, my suffix is “DEX” which is recognizable due to operators having to send “__ . . .” as part of nearly every QSO. Vanity with honor. 😀
Hi Michael for me I like your call sign because when you are on a pota I recognize who you are mediately. For me this is my original call sign WD5ENH and I’ve had it from 1977 and the FCC issued my call sign. So it’s a part of me. And there’s nothing wrong with your call sign. WD5ENH Steve
I'm gonna stick with my original call sign till die. It's the my license, i earned it outright. I haven't changed my car's license plate, c'mon. I have thought about changing ... but ... The only reason would be for CW, which I'm learning now. So I may have a change of heart ... time will tell. I think I'll deal with it. I like my call sign, even though it took me some time to make my introduction. Ham on!
GREAT THOUGHTS❗️ I loved my original of KA5JTT but as I was on CW almost totally 💯% of the time so many operators had trouble with the suffix JTT that when i made Extra i asked for a change and got KV5P which is much better on CW but I still like my old call sign and no one has grabbed it after 41 years❗️
Yea I agree. But I kinda like mine and has a ring to it. But if it were as old as yours I would keep it not worth paying to change mine my honest opinion ☺️
No. If you give up your call, in two years when your old call becomes available, who known what bad deeds might be conducted by the new holder of kb9vbr and folks that don’t know you changed will blame you. Hmmmmm
I never thought of that, but you are right. My callsign has become my brand. If I was ever to change it, I'd have to convert the old callsign to a club call or give it to my daughter.
“There’s a certain flow to ‘KB9VBR, parks on the air, QRZ.’”

Yes keep it as is.

I had a 2x3 KJ6 call sign and I changed it to a 1x3 K1 call sign that my grandpa had in the 1960s. It’s worth a little bit of out of area confusion.
Not if you are just making it K9VBR. That's not much of a difference. If you want to change it make it totally different.

I like my 2 by 3,

Sounds good phonetically also.
Besides, it's on my license plate 😁

How do i change my call sign in qrz

I am known by my call sign. I would like to shorten it, but no one would find me if I did.
2x1 goodness checking in
keep it
why would you want to use a silent keys callsign.
Didn't get in on the poll,, but I agree, don't change your callsign. We all know you as the KB, so I might have missed you if you changed doing POA's.
One by two or two by one are nice calls
They named it right "Vanity" call sign. leave it the same.
Belikan, you better Belize it.
Hello,did you forget me?
Keep it the same
No
It ain't bust, so don't fix it!
change it
I would just drop the "br" from the end. KB9V actually sounds kind of familiar. 🤣🤣🤣
KZ9V
