  • Who knew a five-piece harmonica band could sound so sultry and seductive?

My favorite harmonica tune of all time - even better than Peg of my Heart.

Oh my goodness, someone posted a video with a dixieland group playing this song (and by the way...doing an excellent job BRAVO) and on the post was a LONG list of artists playing or singing this and Johnny Puleo's version was NOT on it? I listened to most of them and it doesn't even come close to these great "mouth organist" HarmoniCATS...(MOUTH ORGAN was what Harmonica playing was called in the old days)
Oh my Gawd its so beautiful and yes yes... very sultry and seductive...thanks a million for this post "schopenhauerian"...I keep playin' it over and over again...

I do believe if you listen hard enough, you can hear little Johnny Puleo on his Polyphonia...

This song shows off contraband harmonica which descends to the lowest E on the piano.

How wonderful to hear Johnny and the gang again! Ion which this song is played, but all I see are vinyl. Does any one know where I can it on CD?

Hi John. This is not the Jerry Murad’s Harmonicats. The Johnny Puleo Harmonica Gang is a group that formed from Borrah Minevitch’s Harmonica Rascals after he died. Longtime member Johnny had major contract issues and formed his own band towards the end of Borrah’s life but couldn’t change the name until after his death and a legal battle.
