Traditionally, a ship had 3 or more masts while boats had fewer, however, since modern vessels don't use masts anymore, the difference is more along the line of size.
Yay Carpetbagger just posted! I await your videos everyday just to see what new place you're checking out. I love watching them as much as you love visiting these locations.
I live about 15 minutes away from Dubuque! I’m so happy you came to visit the Mississippi River Museum! It’s a great museum and Dubuque is rich in history. I hope you had a great time! Thank you for visiting and showing what a beautiful city it truly is.
I live 4 hours away all the way in clive ive been to debuqe around 5 maybe 6 times our last time i went there was back in march 9th to 11th we went to stay at the grand harbour resort there and went walkng to see the quarrys and every time we go there we go to the museum i love the museum i love the outside of it were all the mechanical mechines
This is great. I dig the whole romance of the Mississippi River, paddlewheelers, and all of that, largely due to Mark Twain. That museum looks awesome and I'm looking forward to when you get down to Hannibal!
Loving this series! The incline car is so cool. The windmill museum lady was very nice, I liked how she used a portable fan to demonstrate the mill model. Such a gorgeous day!
You and Jenn should go on the Mississippi River trip that Viking river cruises puts out. Contact them. They might even sponsor you. Take a Viking long boat cruise through the heart of the Delta by Viking River Cruises. (No I don’t work for them. But I have been on them and they are wonderful all inclusive cruising for adults only. (Over 18)
Leclaire iowa has the twilight. We rode the paddle wheel boat last year. I just googled it. The rides start next weekend may 24,25,26. also has the American pickers antique archeology
At 23:40...am I the only one who sometimes gets distracted by the background folks? Like this guy who wanders up the stairs only to, still looking lost, wander down the other side? :D
@@mollysmith1226 I've been at that museum. Honestly those steps are a pretty good vantage point of the surrounding sidewalks. He probably found who or what he was looking for lol
What an awesome museum! The sting ray was adorable. ♥♥♥ I love all the nature and figures they brought in. The story about Mark Twain's name was very interesting, and the bullet tower was fascinating as well. Thank you for all the joy you bring!
I'm usually impressed by your videos in general, but this one really takes the taco. Just absolutely jammed packed with sheer awesomeness that I don't even know where to start. Wow. Just wow.💯🤙🤙
I’ve always called the steering portion of a boat/ship the “wheel house.” Not really sure if that’s the correct terminology, but have always been told that. My Grandpa who passed away quite some years ago spent over 30 years on the Ohio River working on tugboats.
Here in southernmost Illinois, we call it "hoggin'" catfish. My grandfather and his brothers used to do that. They would run their fist into the mouth of the catfish and then hurl the fist onto the shore. Grandfather said it was sure good eating with hush puppies on the side.
Wow, what an incredible video. The content was so amazing Jacob. Keep up your wonderful work. My wife and I really enjoy your journey. This has been one of our favorites so far.
I walked right past you at the Mississippi Aquarium n Museum! I was scared to say hi. I've watched you for the last year n a half. I also couldn't tell if you were recording and I didn't wanna accidently mess up a recording. But it was awesome to see you!
Checking up on your MISS RIVER videos and they are absoulutely beautiful. You never realize how beautiful it is along the Mississippi while driving it. And your new cameras captures video so well. 😊
Vessels intended for navigation of coastal and inland waters are generally called boats, while ocean-going vessels are generally called ships. However, the former are also generally smaller than the latter. Thats a definition I found on Google. Also where the Captain steers the ship is called the Bridge. Left side of a ship is called Port, The right side is called Starboard, The front of a ship is called Forward or Bow, and the back of the Ship is called Aft or Stern. The floor of a ship is called the Deck and the walls of the ship is called the Bulkhead. Plus the bathroom is called the Head and the kitchen/dining area is called the Mess hall and basically where the sailors sleep is called the Berthing area.
As a dutchie living in Kinderdijk (where the famous windmills are) I was really surprised to see windmills in this vlog. Really fascinating to see there are other places in the world that teach about them!
So cool seeing you go into the store from American pickers. I use to watch it all the time. They came to my town here in Vernon my brother got to meet them and he got pictures with them. I love when you go on these road trips I love getting to watch your videos every day.
Excellent video today 🌟 A River boat museum, A cool railway ride, and a windmill museum all in the same day 🙌🤩💖 In answer to the question posed in the restaurant...it would definitely be Jaws every time for me 🦈😹 As always, Thank You for finding such awesome sights along Your way Jacob 🙏💝😻♾️
Creole Queen is in New Orleans. You can ride on it and it even has a buffet style meal you can get. Ive done it a few times and is a nice slow paced relaxing experience.
I've been there probably 4 years ago now but we didn't know there were several buildings to walk through so we only went through the one where's the big tank with the alligator gar and the other tank with the creepy black fish that can open their mouth really big
I nearly jumped out of my seat when you went to Port Byron and Le Clair. My family lives in Port Byron, and I'm just twenty minutes away in Moline. Yes, you definitely have to come to the Tug Fest. It's so much fun! Make sure to come the Friday prior. They always have a fireworks show on Friday night. For the record, Port Byron almost, always wins. 😁
When we went there for our last time we went there in march 9 to 11 we weren’t able to go in the big ships but we did go in the two big ones in the past that were in the river 20:44 i wish we went touring them but it was closed of i was so bumbed
I am really enjoying this series. I grew up near Alton and saw and rode the Delta Queen many times in its heyday (including meeting Pres. Carter). Last word is it is docked in Louisiana in poor shape but may be revived. Riding the Kampsville Ferry was also a fond memory. Looking forward to the next episode!
We had the Delta Queen here in Chattanooga TN it was a resturant then it started falling apart and someone bought it and it was supposed to be restored and made where it could be taken up the river on trips!
I was having a déjà vu moment trying to remember where I seen the video before. I was like did I have a dream about it and then when I got to the catfish part I was like “TheDailyWoo” did one like this I remembered hahaha 😂
Hi, Jacob! I had been wanting you do this River Roadtrip, mostly because of MIMAL the chef/elf. Growing up, this is how I was taught to remember the states from Minnesota to Louisiana (which is shaped like an elf with TN being the frying pan and KY being the fried chicken.) I think you could say MIMAL is like a cryptid-esque character, because, according to legend, no one has been able to complete the full 5 state journey without an unlucky run-in with the elusive/murderous elf. If anyone was up for the challenge it would be the Carpetbagger. Best of luck… haha, can’t wait to watch this one!

There is a paddle boat here in Galveston, Tx that takes off from Moody Gardens. Also if note is that water from the Mississippi River runs out into Galveston Bay, a former home of Pirate Jean LaFitte.

This was one of the first museums I remember visiting as a kid, thanks for doing a modern walkthrough nearly two decades later!
Jacob, you can take a riverboat dinner cruise in New Orleans. They take you a few miles up river and back while you eat. They have jazz bands perform
