Kudos, Mom, for supporting your boy in his battle against tyranny and ignorance
Yes but it was still used in the context of the American civil war and it is often used by neo-Nazi movements in America and was heavily displayed during the storming of the capital
It's an actual battle flag and a part of our national history. And as a Marine it's part of my specific culture. It hangs in USMC buildings next to the USMC flag.

Ignorant of what, it’s modern use by neo-Nazis. Historical meaning often doesn’t matter when compared to its modern association. That teacher is now reason 12,475,892 why we homeschool.
Ben Franklin wanted the rattlesnake as the national animal instead of the bald eagle. I believe he even wanted that as the nation's flag, as opposed to the stars and stripes we have. I could be wrong on that last part, but I am busy typing instead of verifying
@stevez7530 Nah, "According to his notes, Franklin proposed an image of “Moses standing on the shore, and extending his hand over the sea, thereby causing the same to overwhelm pharaoh who is sitting in an open chariot” along with the motto “Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God.” While the committee selected the scene from the Book of Exodus for the reverse of the seal, the Continental Congress was not impressed and tabled the concept. Not until 1782 was the Great Seal of the United States, with a bald eagle as its centerpiece, approved". Further more: "Franklin wrote to his daughter criticizing the original eagle design for the Great Seal, saying that it looked more like a turkey. In the letter, Franklin wrote that the “Bald Eagle...is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly…[he] is too lazy to fish for himself.” About the turkey, Franklin wrote that in comparison to the bald eagle, the turkey is “a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America...He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage”.

Yes, notice they use the world “inclusion.” That is, until they disagree with you. Just look how awful people became to the unvaccinated during COVID. I even heard of stories where leftists thought the unvaccinated deserved to die, and shouldn’t be treated in hospital! Fear is the worst of human emotions. We are told over 300 times in the Bible not to be fearful! There is good reason for that!
Democrats hate America!
Thank you for the information, you taught me something new today. God's blessings
That kid is a true symbol of hope for the future of America! God bless!!!
Seriously?? The motto of the flag is "Don't tread on me". Not exactly a motto for slavery, more like the rebellion against it.
The fact that the adults didn't know that says a whole lot about them, and it speaks well of the young man and his mother that they took the meaning and APPLIED it in a real life situation.
Kudos, Mom, for supporting your boy in his battle against tyranny and ignorance
Yes but it was still used in the context of the American civil war and it is often used by neo-Nazi movements in America and was heavily displayed during the storming of the capital
Sadly, the flag has also been used during the Jan 6th insurrection and white power crimes. So, the meaning of the symbol is changing by these groups.
@@tharengore7215Go read a history book. I don't care if a few morons use a flag inappropriately. That does not change history, or the initial meaning.

God bless the USMC !
It's also uses very similarly as the 1st Navy Jack flag. Snake is uncoiled over the red and white stripes with the caption "don't tread on me"
The ignorant teacher said the gadsden flag was a symbol of slavery. Should have seen the kid trying not to laugh at her.
That was great he was just smirking 😂
Ignorance can be corrected---IF those who are ignorant are willing to learn. If not, why are they allowed to teach?
The hell? Symbol of slavery? It's a symbol of the American Revolution!
We don't have a symbol of slavery in ANY OF OUR FLAGS of America.

Teacher should not have the right to kick student out of class just because they disagree with what they are wearing.
So a swastika armband is fine by you? A KKK emblem?
or believe.
Dopey woke teacher had absolutely no idea what that flag meant.
I have no idea what kind of flag that is she should be sued for being that thin-skinned
To a certain extent I agree, but these days some kids wear inappropriate clothing examples are extremely short skirts, shirts with profanity on them. But in this case, the teacher was wrong and violated that child's basic right to education

Ignorant of what, it’s modern use by neo-Nazis. Historical meaning often doesn’t matter when compared to its modern association. Although an extreme example it’s like complaining about people taking down a swastika, sure it may have been meant as the symbol of luck but it’s links to the Nazis is still prevalent.
Yeah but they don't tend to pay well enough for the educated to want to teach such classes.

Fire the teacher for not knowing her HISTORY
Considering the OG flag was old school ACAB...?
It's not the history that's the problem. The problem is that the flag shows up at modern neo-nazi conventions and on chan boards. The Iron Cross is a German monarchist symbol, and that one has a lot of racist implications too.
BUT she knows all about rainbow flags and c.r.t.😅
Not for not knowing the history, but for her emotional knee-jerk reaction to what she THOUGHT she knew. She didn't bother with ten seconds of Googling before trying to punish the kid. She went straight to "I'm offended, so he's gonna pay." That's not a quality that should be tolerated in any school.

I love how Nick can characterize a situation so succinctly.
And with humor.
Everybody complains, but nobody does anything about it. Stop sending your kids to the schools. If you don't, you're part of the problem

Teacher said the flag's history was rooted in slavery...a 20-second perusal of Wikipedia - basically a left-wing dictionary - not only told me that the flag originated during the Revolutionary War, but that the one time some dummy DID try to make it a symbol of slave-owning "rights" in the 1860s, an angry mob destroyed it.

Rooted in a tyrannical government enslaving the people
Even better is a militia group used it and said group was most diverse of its era having both black and white members.
He does not get his Living honestly…[he] is too lazy to fish for himself.”
About the turkey, Franklin wrote that in comparison to the bald eagle, the turkey is “a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America...He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage”.
What's upsetting, is an ex-president that didn't know much about US history. Such as the fact that there were NO AIRPORTS DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR, what an ignoramus.
They're all so insufferable.
They let him backnin due to the backlash. But they still have him suspended because one patch has a "gun" on it. The really sad part is that school doesn't even know US history.
Hopefully she transferred her kid to a better school that actually knows it's history
In the era of schools suspending kids for finger guns, that is unsurprising. THIS is why people grow up anti 2A. They instill the fear and distrust of firearm ownership at an early age with these types of rules
