I was in Hopton, which is not so far from Hemsby last month. The sea defences there are great. Hemsby should follow there model.
Why not get the illegal immigrants out there, with some shovels.?

50 million to save 90 homes?! Thats about 500k per house. Whats the time horizon for loosing the 90 homes?
If its more than 30 years I'd say just soread the cost of compensating the people to live else where.

i agree , but we would have the money if the council didnt increase the taxes ,yet roads are never fixed and services have declined , all to fund the hotels for illegals

Although erosion has gone on since day dot and will always go on forever this will be blamed on the climate change con!!

Too bad it has taken you so long to face up to your problem and fix it. New residents obviously didn't do due diligence before buying. This erosion has been occurring forever and has always required some type of sea wall, but no one wanted to pay for it.
Really erosion scaremongering now. Erosion is a natural event which will always happen the same as climate change shock horror. The shape of islands and continents are constantly changing. When you live on a beach front property guess what ? Basic geography schools used to teach at 8 year old.
If you look at Cromer you will finf the finest sea defences you can build that were made years ago. This is what is needed in many places in Norfolk. Strong government action is needed. cancel HS2 and look after Norfolk
When you don't invest in coastal erosion defences this is the result

i agree to a degree ,but the council shouldnt waste money on illegals and hotels for them, when they could be protecting their own citizens

Land has been disappearing and cropping up elsewhere since the beginning of the world and its never been possible for humans to interfere with it.
The east Anglian coast has been eroding away for a 1,000 years, the sand dunes will always be washed away,
if these have payed tax, then should our taxes be spent protecting them
Simon Measures does not look like an idiot yet he bought a home there just 3 years ago! Why? Well, he obviously got it cheap and is now hoping to use tax payers money for coastal defence and thus secure his cheap home for him!
