One thing that helped me with making more realistic floorplans is remembering where the water pipes go. Usually the bathroom will be on the same wall as the kitchen sink or at least near it (in the case that the sink is under an outdoor window), and if there are multiple floors, the bathrooms are usually stacked on top of each other. If there is a basement, the bathroom above it usually is above a laundry room or utility room. Toilets typically don't face the door, they are usually behind it or being hidden by the sink. Every other room tends to be hit or miss but honestly that's kind of realistic in itself.
I kind of do mine the same way. it's easier if there's already a realistic guideline to a floor plan. everything else just kind of starts to fall into place and!.. that way you never forget putting it a bathroom too haha😂.
That's usually the opposite of how most people do them lol I usually go back and forth, but focus on the outer shell mainly. I check inside a few times to make sure it's big enough, but I don't plan the rooms really- only where the back or front doors will be, and sometimes the stairs
Sometimes I go to the store and buy house plan magazines and then use them to build with. It's really helped me creating floorplans on my own. Can't wait to try the shell.
I personally like a closed floor plan but a spacious one! I think open is nice if it's someone else's house but the coziness of closed floorplans wins my heart every time! 😊
Yes! I love a closed floor plan because sometimes it's hard to kinda distinguish one room from another. Although, my IRL house is technically both. The galley kitchen leads into the dining room which then leads into the living room but we also have a concertina door that folds away that can then separate the living room and kitchen/dining. So good if you have someone crashing in the Living room because you can Block it off but can still access the kitchen from the hallway. Sounds a bit like a rabbit Warren but it's pretty spacious😂😂
BUILDING TIP: When struggling to place stairs, go to the top floor with them and press "alt" (it moves the stairs to the floor below for an easier placement)
I really liked closed floor plans for Every Room is a Different X challenge because I think it’s adds a needed layer of separation in the challenge. Outside of challenges (and in real life), I think I prefer open. But also, I just found your channel and I have been binging your videos!! You’re literally so talented and make such fun videos!!!
for your topic on open floor plans, I definately think it depends on the size of the house and the number of people living in there and the aesthetic you're going for. I'm from a family of 6 and we live in a one-story open floor plan house, and I think it helps my parents keep track of all of us, however, it also means that it's louder since there's no walls for the sound to bounce off of. It definately has it pros and cons, but I think it really depends on personal preferance. Personally, I think I prefer having it. You get used to the noise and after a while it seems weird without it.
I don't like the open floorplan, I'd much rather have the kitchen and the living room separate. I think it has something to do with cozyness as Vixella thought, plus you have more wall space. I like my furniture along side the wall and not in the middle of the room. A lot of new houses have horrible floorplans to my eye.
It reminds me a lot of new build county homes in the UK, if you look in places like the Cotswolds. They're soooo expensive but a really popular style here!
Love your videos vixella!❤ Here are some ideas of how to improve your landscaping skills! •Try adding more cool stuff like a nice pond in the back maybe •Add a lot of cute plants, grass, flowers, terrain paint. Don't be afraid to go crazy sometimes! •Sometimes adding water features are cool! •Sometimes adding scale items can give the build more personality as well. Just some ideas for ya!😊
So the swirl walkway you love so much... I love when you do it because my childhood home had a swirl sidewalk in the front yard. It was weird to mow it but I still absolutely love it. Nostalgia and charm abound.
I paused when you started complaining about floor plans, downloaded your shell and not only decorated but made a family to move in and make sure everything worked the way I set it up. I'm surprised at the similarities between our downstairs layout but mine has a more open living room, with the stairs over by the bathroom. Upstairs is *completely* different but the kids room I did might actually be my new favorite. The first thing that was calling to me was the parts that stuck out on the right side, I wanted to make them chimneys! In the dining room and upstairs bedrooms I have fireplaces, but in the kitchen I put the wood burning stove and a hood there ❤ This was definitely a fun shell to work with that was quite a challenge! One tip I have for floorplans: I like to put the furniture first and then decide the walls around that.
For the garage you could fake one on the outside and make it look like someone converted their garage into a gym or painting area or something along those lines to give the garage feel aswell as implementing a skill item.
My landscaping skills turned around when I did the every room is a different budget challenge, my outside budget was §38.000; I tried to spend every simoleon so I had to go nuts with the landscaping😂 it forced me to learn
the number one thing i want for the sims 4, forget everything else: Half tile walls. realistic houses r hard cuz the sims full walls r like slightly off yk?
Glad to see we both had trouble with the stairs lol. I only started playing a few months ago and figuring out how to position things was a nightmare lol
Your skills at decorating a house are sooooo good. And as for the whole open floor plan debate ... I actually don't mind a semi open floor plan. I like there being a separation between the Living room cooking/eating space. So an eat-in open kitchen is nice, but to have a wall or some kind of divide between that and the living space is always nice. The house I lived in before now, was like that.
the stairs were a nightmare in this shell. After I figured those out (weird under stairs powder room my beloved) it all fit together. Posting when I get home!
As far as floor plans go, I am constantly cold and open floor plans are harder to keep heated. that is why all older houses had a lot of rooms because of heating. even with central heat and air, it is still hard to regulate temp in open floor plans.
I had an idea about a double home and just went straight to download it to build it while I watch the video, funny how you mentioned rotating it just as I was doing it myself 🤣
you should do a challenge where each room is a different amount of objects like you use a random number generator and then if it gives like 20 you have to use exactly 20 objects in that room also love your videos❤
I know open floor plans are a big deal but it was a huge no for me when we were buying our house. I like having some openness but I need the kitchen to be separate. I like cooking but I don't want those smells in my living space. I also love having a separate room for my kids toys vs our tv. So much quieter and cozy.
Last time I did this I built a base game ‘vampire family’ house and I only called it that because I didn’t even think of putting the windows in until I had done EVERYTHING else and at that point I was so worried that windows would ruin the exterior so I decided that it was for vampires like they can’t even have sunlight through a window🤣🤣🤣
Building house for me is so hard but I recently helped my mom clean her house and found a thick book of house blueprints from 1995 and she let me have it haha. They are awesome!!!
im currently in school for interior design and the current project is to design an apartment for a celebrity, i chose Brytani Cho from get famous, im currently doing the floor plan for it
I think it's dependent on the person. if you're someone that does like your own space and bubble, you probably prefer rooms with walls as opposed to be right nearby someone working on something else. I personally love the cozy feeling but in Sims I love open floor plans because it's easier to navigate.
I would say with normal shell challenges rules no wall height changes but adding platforms would be okay but again I am just going off of most shell challenges
I'm doing the super sim challenge and just decided to move to Thorn Bailey's house in Del Sol Valley...even with 300k and going maximalist, there's so much empty space😭 I think every build back then was just comically bad tbh
So about the car rant... I've heard somewhere that the reason it took so long to get horses was the very same reason we don't have cars. So now that we have horses, we may get cars at some point. Now don't hold your breath on that but a person can dream! 😂

Damn............. That's smart I'm gonna have to start doing that.

for floor plans, i usually start on the inside of the house and map out my rooms. the outside usually falls into place. hope this helps!
That's usually the opposite of how most people do them lol
I usually go back and forth, but focus on the outer shell mainly. I check inside a few times to make sure it's big enough, but I don't plan the rooms really- only where the back or front doors will be, and sometimes the stairs
For real! I can't believe people start from the outside
That's what I do.
Sometimes I go to the store and buy house plan magazines and then use them to build with. It's really helped me creating floorplans on my own. Can't wait to try the shell.
Vixella makes everyone’s day/night so much better

I'm actually trying out this shell while watching this. I'm normally a CAS camper so I don't build often. We'll see how this goes 😅

Same. I still wish she did the pack legacy challenge
did we forget about this shell challenge? haha
Live laugh Vixella
Omg I love this type of voice over! It was sooo relaxing to watch and listen
I'm con-open floor plan. My mom is a firefighter- walls stop fires!

Every Room is a Different Random Pokemon but you have to use the Random Pokemon Generator

I really like open floor plans! Not too big but not super closed in! Also LOVE you fun wallpapers you choose 😌
I have a challenge idea, its like random genetics but instead if 3. Maybe 5? And for the body 4!

I purposely didn't watch this video before I'd built and uploaded mine, and I feel the struggle of the floor plan!! Thank you for the challenge!!! ❤
these are so funny please do more HAHA! 9:36 got me
this video is so calm❤️i love the vibes
I had a lot of fun with this challenge! I only have base game and dream home decorator, but i really liked this shell.
Vixella is sooooo amazing!
👇right?!
YES BRING THIS BACK
Totally agree about the floor plans
Painting your ceiling a darker color can make a space look more closed in and cozier!
Who else is waiting in excitement for the reaction video??

i love how when u talk over speed builds it’s like we’re on ft it’s like we’re like this🤞
Girl, painting the ceiling was not the only thing you forgot. Look at the stairs, where is the railing. 😂
the stairs were a nightmare in this shell. After I figured those out (weird under stairs powder room my beloved) it all fit together. Posting when I get home!
You should try making one of the doll houses Into a life sized house!
As far as floor plans go, I am constantly cold and open floor plans are harder to keep heated. that is why all older houses had a lot of rooms because of heating. even with central heat and air, it is still hard to regulate temp in open floor plans.
Love ur builds❤
please do a video reviewing/fixing your old builds!
I would love to have garages and fixer upper cars too & build like a work shop garage for your sims with extra skill building activities
I love the sims 3 on the wii because it was basically open world!! You used the controller to walk the sim around & it was so much fun
This is so good!
I LOVE These challenges ❤
Girl be popin out these videos and I’m LIVING for it!!!!
I always enjoy your videos 💖
I might just have to try my first shell challenge
love your videos ❤
I had an idea about a double home and just went straight to download it to build it while I watch the video, funny how you mentioned rotating it just as I was doing it myself 🤣
are you going to do a video review all the fans builds of the shell?
you should do a challenge where each room is a different amount of objects
like you use a random number generator and then if it gives like 20 you have to use exactly 20 objects in that room
also love your videos❤
OMG YAYYY SHELL CHALLENGE😱😱😱😱
ooo i’ve been wanting to do a new shell challenge 😊
You could've moved the door and placed the bed on the other side in the kid's room 😭
I actually kinda miss playing Sims. It was so fun to build homes and families. Sadly, I have a cromebook, so no sims for me.
was in a sims mood today so im gonna open it up and do this challenge! it will be even more of a challenge cause i only have a few packs
omg ive been waiting for another shell challenge! i remember joining years ago
I know open floor plans are a big deal but it was a huge no for me when we were buying our house. I like having some openness but I need the kitchen to be separate. now build the biggest labarinth build where everything is on the opposite side (toilet right, sink left, shower bottom, etc.)😂
im the opposite! i love making floor plans, it’s like figuring out a puzzle haha but i HATE doing the exterior. especially landscaping 🥴
I am so excited to decorate this house
I'd love to see a video reaction to our ideas of decorating this shell. It would be very interesting to see what others came with.
Love your sims videos🥰🥰🥰
I love vixella
Same!🩷 I enjoy all of her videos :)
Girl how do you build so good!
Have you done a haunted house build before? That would be so fun!
Love the video and it looks so good
sashas adhd really came out in this video and i love this representation for us akshd
Love your videos Vixella! :)
do more builds like this!!!!!!! i miss the old sasha buildssss
You should record a video where you redecorate one of your old houses 😊🤔
i love your vids vixella
No railing on the stairs?😮 thats dangurus!😂
You should do a video of redoing old builds!
I use floorplan websites and Excel to help make floorplans in the sims.
from lilsimsie and sydmac I learned to get irl floorplans and practice builds with them til its easier to plan them out!
edit: ope she said it haha
When you say from lilsimsie, are you talking about the inspo to use actual floor plans or the shell?
@@celeste4681 inspo to use irl floor plans! I don't really know what you mean by the shell?
I love your vids!

Everyone ready for some more Sims 4?
I normally use a lot of CC but I guess it’s time for me to try just BG, and island living cus that’s all I have but I am excited!!
✨Making an industrial community lot as we speak ✨ I love this shell! 🥰
i’m bout to do this challenge at 3am look out everyone
edit: it took me almost 4 hours but she’s done and beautiful.
I prefer open floor plans for the Sims, less likely that they will get clogged up and trapped by dishes on the floor.
Sasha ur amazing 🫶
Question: can you add platforms to the build challenge?
And also can I change the wall height?
I would say with normal shell challenges rules no wall height changes but adding platforms would be okay but again I am just going off of most shell challenges
@@SwordManiac84 thank you!!
@@char5933 no worries
my cat says hi💕
he also loves your vids
I love how you upload so often now! Great effort with the videos Vixellaaaa 💖
I haven't tried a shell challenge yet, do you get a lot of entries or are you able to see most of them?
I'm doing the super sim challenge and just decided to move to Thorn Bailey's house in Del Sol Valley...even with 300k and going maximalist, there's so much empty space😭 I think every build back then was just comically bad tbh
